I have not searched this thread to see if this has been reported. The box hung up when I tried to delete a "series" from the "priority listing". The Delete menu showed up but I would not delete or exit from that menu. I had to reset the box by pulling out the power cable. Is this a bug that can be replicated?

The last two nights my 6412 has locked up at 4:20am and 4:25am respectively.Something's up because it locked up yesterday afternoon (can't remember exactly when) and again last night at exactly 4:20am. And just now, at 4:50pm.

I never had this type of lockup until a few days ago. I recall some Comcast users reporting problems similar to this and thinking it was related to a particular commercial or other content that came on. I think it was fixed with the 9.15 firmware (Shaw is still on 9.12). And some users in the States are up to firmware 9.17 now. I hope Shaw does an upgrade soon and that it fixes my problem. Locking up twice a day is getting to be a pain.

I've had a 6412 for about a month now and have not experienced any lockups. If it is as you assume, something to do with specific program content, then you may be getting lockups by watching certain programs or channels that I don't. I do know that the 6208 and the 6412 do have different behavious for some of the digital channels with PVR operation and other problems with Playboy and Hustler. One of the problems with Playboy and Hustler was fixed on the 6412 but one other problem still remains.

the problem that I reported above about the 6412 locking while trying to delete a "series" is a bug. It happened again last night.

Alan, it locked up again at 4:20am last night even though I set both tuners to the same channel (a different channel from their usual). So now I doubt that my problem is content related. The only thing I can think of that I've done different lately is to set up a recording and then use the options to set an early start or late end. Not sure how that would cause this though.

beanagee1, I haven't had your specific problem but I have made a few postings in this thread about lockups while changing the options of a series, and I also posted that I have heard of lockup problems if your series priority numbers don't run in sequence (if a number is missing or duplicated). Maybe check yours.

I haven't made use of the series recording option yet so that may be why I haven't had any lockups yet. I'll try and remember the possibility of lockups if I do start using the series recording option. As I am mostly recording HD MC movies, I just record the individual programs from series when they are incovenient to watch live. I will probably get around to trying out the series options but not just yet.

Has anyone had problems with their swap button. Yesterday my 6412 wouldn't swap tuners, the button would bring up the program info!?!?

Anyone know how to fix this?

Andrew

Could it be that both tuners were tuned to the same channel?

No, they were recording two different channels... I just wanted to swap to watch the other... I ended up watching from the PVR List. Maybe swap is disable when both are recording?

No, I don't think swap is disabled when both tuners are recording.

But could it be that you were watching a PVR list program when you tried to swap? I find that swap is disabled when watching a pvr list program. I have to "stop" or "exit" the pvr list program before it lets you swap. Kind of annoying.

Yep - exit any on screen guide menus first... then swap.

I record Leno daily from CBS affiliate at 11:30 pm. However, there is a repeat broadcast of this Show at about 3 in the morning which is in SD. Given that the guide data does not indicate that the second showing is a repeat my PVR will record that second episode as well. I can manually go in and delete all 3 am recording every week but that is a bit of pain. I cannot find a way to manually record a show on a weekly or daily basis as it was possible on the 6208. I could choose the option of keeping more than one show on the PVR, then watch the first recording and delete the second, and that could be a work-around. I have not tried the work-around since I just thought of that option. Is there a more straightforward way of deal with this issue?

Hopefully someone here can help me.. I have a Motorola DVR DCT6412.

Woke up yesterday to a little surprise yesterday.

I press the "List" button and nothing at all happens.

So I go into "Settings", then "My Recordings" and everything I had is gone from "My Recordings"!

When I go to record something, it says "Setup Your VCR using your manufacturer's instructions and select continue".

What's wrong with my box, and how to I get my shows back!?!?!?

That message is the same one I get on my 2500 when I set up a show to 'record'. In other words, sounds like your DVR has lost DVR functionality somehow. Maybe it reverts to this if there's a problem accessing the HDD, or maybe the non-DVR version of software somehow got downloaded?

Check your software / firmware versions, and post so someone else with a 6412 can compare. Let us know where you're located, as there's no guarantee every town is running the same versions. Any other changes you can find in the program guide and menus? Also: can you hear your HDD spinning / accessing? Has your box suddenly gotten quieter / cooler?

Random ideas.... good luck!

notsohappy, also try just unplugging the 6412 from the power for a couple of minutes. I've never heard of your problem but quite a few problems have been resolved that way in the past. You do lose the guide data until it downloads again, but everything else is kept.

Thanks Technut. Found it but there is no longer a Mon-Fri option. Odd!

Thanks Technut. Found it but there is no longer a Mon-Fri option. Odd!If the initial recording is on the weekend then the Mon-Fri option is replaced with a Sat-Sun option.

I could not pause or fast forward as usual also.

Firmware 8.12
Checked Hard drive status and it says active..

Talked to tech support, they're sending a new box in the mail for tuesday.
As for my shows guess they're gone.. Unless there's some way I could dump, if anything left, on the hard drive to my computer?

Hello everyone, I've had a 6412 for about 1 month and working fine.
However, now I'm having some trouble.
When I turn on the Cable button and then turn on the Tv button
I only get the memu bar showing on the screen, no picture or sound.
However, when I press Menu and going into PVR recorded shows, my
recorded shows shows up and display and then when I press stop
my regular channels show up with Picture and sound...That's the
only way I can get regular television working. Does anyone know why
this is now happening?

Thanks,
