filper 2005-03-28, 08:43 AM Anyone else pondering the purchase of AC/DC Family Jewels coming out tomorrow ?
From what I can gather it's not really a 'concert' DVD, but it might be a nice addition to the filper headbanging collection.
eljay 2005-03-28, 11:03 AM When I read that it was a two-DVD set, I really hoped one of the discs would be the Let There Be Rock concert...but, unfortunately, that's not the case. (I sure hope they release that concert on DVD at some point!!)
I'll probably pick up Family Jewels anyway if the price is right. It looks as though it has some good archive footage.
ilovemusic 2005-03-28, 03:00 PM I'd like to see Pink Floyd "The Wall" concert , I remember seeing it on VHS at a friends home and I wonder if it has been put out on dvd yet
it would be a hoot to see the blow up doll of the pig, and the teacher on our 106" screne
johnp'in'bc 2005-03-28, 05:05 PM ilovemusic ...... I believe there have been two dvd releases of 'The Wall'. The first back in 1999, and the second, a Special Limited Edition in Nov, 2004. The first release is commonly available at stores like Wal-Mart. www.amazon.ca shows the Limited Edition to be available. I haven't seen it, but have always been tempted to get it. Cheers!

Roger Waters: The Wall: Live In Berlin
http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009VTYE/qid=1112152587/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_3_2/702-8520159-2605618
Pick it up at Wal-Mart for $15.96.
Not Pink Floyd, but still, a landmark event, and worth adding to your collection.
lukinater 2005-03-30, 01:14 PM The best band ever
PEARL JAM - LIVE AT THE GARDEN
QuickSilver 2005-03-30, 02:26 PM I agree about the Pearl Jam DVD...excellent band and great in concert. I have had the Coldplay DVD for the past few months and find it a very good DVD. Excellent sound.....
audiofool 2005-04-01, 10:46 PM Last night I picked up "Bring On The Night" which just came out in HD-transfer remastered DVD. A nice upgrade from my old Beta copy from eons ago.
After a quick scan, the PQ is great, the 5.1 mix sounds pretty good so far, and although it's not a concert dvd per se, there is a concert in the film... well a bit of one anyway.
A good record of Sting back when he was still interesting (at least IMO).... and only $12.99 at FS
RNAChemist 2005-04-14, 09:54 PM I picked up Eagles: When Hell Freezes Over DVD today. It is on sale for $16.99 at A&B sound.
Before I open it, I just bought this version: link (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007Y89ZM/qid=1113529439/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_3_2/702-1888931-0165654)
But I noticed there is this version too: link2 (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000I21X/qid=1113529439/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/702-1888931-0165654)
Can anyone confirm for sure that the version I bought has both DTS and DD sound tracks? From the description it sounds like it but it is rather vague. I wanted the DTS version and dont want to open this if it doesnt have the DTS version on it.
Thanks.
eljay 2005-04-15, 07:46 AM I'm picking up mine at Best Buy tonight for $15.99. Some versions have the DTS logo at the top of the front of the case but, whether they do or not, they're all DTS (and that's clearly indicated at the bottom of the back of the case).
What's got me puzzled is the sudden and very dramatic price drop from the fairly steady high $20 / low $30 range...

Probably due to market saturation.
I found Joe ****er Live, Across From Midnight at Wallymart for $17.93.
Nice sounding dts track and a good transfer however 4:3.
Joe seems to have put on a few miles, but the concert was most of his big works.
It's quite entertaining. Lovely setting for the show.
I picked up a couple of older ones from blockbuster of all places
real cheap last week,
Brian Adams live from sloan castle ireland- $6.99 & Mary Chapen Carpenter Live
also $ 6.99, Figured I couldn't loose much at that price, Both were pretty decent DVD's to add to the collection and niether one had a mark or scratch on them. The Brian adams one is still retailing for over $20 bucks even at wallymart
so I was happy to grab that one for $ 7 bucks.

............
Joe Who??? LOL Maybe you should have typed "Rooster"
filper 2005-04-15, 11:51 AM Ya or Joe Peniser...
berner 2005-04-15, 03:39 PM LMAO Can't believe that didn't hit the no-no word list.
eljay 2005-04-15, 07:51 PM I picked up Hell Freezes Over on the way home and gave it an introductory listen after supper. Incredible! I'd read on-line that it was more of a "live documentary" of their 1994 reunion than an out-and-out "rock concert" and, to be sure, it's fairly laid back; however, the show's lack of dynamics is more than made up for by beautiful video footage and impressive DTS audio. I loved what I saw and heard - as did my wife - and I look forward to watching the entire show.
[Note: The AR is 4:3. I watched it in 4:3 Expanded - just to fill the screen - and it looked just as fantastic.]
If you're a fan of the Eagles, this DVD is a "must buy", especially at the very low price of $15.99!
Nanuuk 2005-04-15, 07:54 PM All I can say is "Turn it Up!" Especially on the the first track. Send chills ups your spine!
eljay 2005-04-15, 07:58 PM Oh, yeah, I will!! :D
RNAChemist 2005-04-16, 04:35 PM Some versions have the DTS logo at the top of the front of the case but, whether they do or not, they're all DTS (and that's clearly indicated at the bottom of the back of the case).
I am still trying to find the answer to this.
The DTS version was released in 2002 with DTS 5.1 and PCM 2.0
The other version (no DTS label) was released in 2005. It says DD5.1 and PCM with DTS only on the last track. But, does it have both DD5.1 and DTS 5.1?
Also, the back of the package shows the logo for 5.0 not 5.1.
Can anyone who has this version confirm that it has both DD and DTS in 5.1?
eljay 2005-04-16, 06:05 PM I did a bit of surfing and it appears that, while there is a version with DTS + PCM2.0 and another with DD5.1 + PCM2.0, there does not appear to be one with both DTS and DD5.1 + PCM2.0.
Around here, the only version I've seen, with or without the DTS logo on the front of the case, is the DTS + PCM2.0 version.
