Roger Hodgson "Take The Long Way Home"... Brilliant !

I totally agree. What a great show, in all respects ! You could see he was totally enjoying performing these songs again. A great voice still ! THe sax player did a fantastic job in replicating the solos from the original recordings. Hearing "School"performed with only keyboard and 12-string guitar was a great treat.Made me very sorry I didn't catch the show when it was here in Montreal. I picked it up for $13.99 at FS. They also have it at Costco. A great buy !

This is a real treat. Tremendous production values (audio particularly). Roger and a few friends in Berlin a year after the wall came down. My version even has a DTS soundtrack which sounds incredible. The DD 5.1 is no slouch either, and I understand is what comes in the North American version.

My favourite concert video is anything by Alison Krauss and the Union Gap. I like most Bluegrass music especially if it features a five string banjo and a Dobro guitar.

Alison Kraus Live, and Dixie Chicks Live, DVD's are my two favourites.

The back of the Alison Krauss Live DVD states the concert was filmed in high-definition and some of the shots are certainly the sharpest I've seen on a regular DVD.

My taste in music is the blues. Certainly a minority genre.

However, a good mainstream blues concert dvd (2-disc) is Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985.
In 82, an unknown Stevie Ray is booed by the audience. They were expecting an acoustic performance. What they got was a very loud and powerful set. In spite of the boos, Stevie played like his life depended on it and put on a fiery performance.

Three years later Stevie was invited back to headline "Blues Night" at the festival. The now famous Stevie Ray is treated by the crowd as a conquering hero. Once again he played like his life depended on it.

Picked up U2 Live from Sydney (Zoo TV Tour). Excellent DVD. Sound is very nice and the picture quality is quite good form a 1993 transfer. My only gripe is with it being 4:3 but I can live with that. Excellent set of songs from probably their most extensive tour ever.

As someone noted the ONLY place I have found that carries these here in Wpg so far is Walmart. I picked up the Glass Tiger one and it's great!! You can also get them online at the official muchmoreretro website.

Picked this one up also and agree that it is a great DVD. I do wish it was from the first half of the ZooTV tour (pre Zooropa) but I can live with this. Wonder if U2 will release the PopMart tour on DVD?

Also Amazon.ca has a good deal on this DVD and the new U2 by U2 hardcover.

Okay, finally after aprox. 13 years, U2 have decided to release their (until now) VHS concert of Zoo TV on to DVD!

The concert has been re-mastered and it looks awesome on my Toshiba 44" DLP. Compared to Vertigo concert U2 released last year (2005), the quality is like night and day. They did a great job.

The DVD looks and sounds great, a must buy for U2 fans and those looking for great looking videos.

My latest fave is the great 2-disc DVD edition of Kraftwerk's
"Minimum Maximum". Music is always great, but the one
unexpected bonus for me was that it also became my 6-year-old's favourite DVD.(*** Warning! Spoiler!***)
Mainly because of the "Robots", a stunning version featuring 4 actual robots with near-perfect faces of the four
current band members.
PQ and sound - GREAT!
Also, Simply Red's "A Starry Night in Hamburg" from their
1992 world tour promoting their album "Stars". I remember seeing them live during that tour at the Kingswood(Canada's Wonderland) and thinking: "This is probably the most fun concert I've ever been to". THe DVD
nicely recaptures the mood and great musicianship of the band..
PQ is very good; the sound starts a little distorted but
develops into a clean, very dynamic outing. Very enjoyable.

That is a great entertaining concert. And each number is followed by an even greater one.

Played it on my Toshiba HD-A1 with the 5.1 multichannel analogs... WOW!

Just watched Cream 2005 Reunion Concert on HD-DVD. Wow! This one looks simply amazing in Hi-Def (it blew away the PBS-HD's broadcast of early 2006 IMO). Breathtaking performances and beautiful HD camera work. No wonder even the SD DVD transfer looked great. This concert HD-DVD has reference quality in my book.

Roy Orbison -- Black & White Night
Great photography (B&W 35mm!), great sound, great music, incredible backup band with Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, T-Bone Burnett, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, and others, backup vocals by k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Rait.

Ditto! And to add one of my own favorites, Santana: Supernatural Live. The Carlos guitar/piano duet with Sarah McLachlan is simply breathtaking. Too bad it is only 1.33:1.

Great Thread! I have a few hundred Music Shows on various video formats, in fact that’s all I collect on video. My favourites are Classic Rock, Blues & Psychedelic shows.

Someone mentioned the MuchMusic Big Ticket Concerts from the 80s.
They just released "Goddo - An Act of Goddo At The Church"
The first CityTV/CHUM FM simulcast, taped in March 1979 at a Toronto Church.
I just picked this up - well worth it.

I contacted "LINUS ENTERTAINMENT" the folks who make the muchmusic big ticket DVDs to see if any chance of releasing

1) BTO - Live at the maximum security prison in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan 1988

2) ALANNAH MYLES Intimate & Interactive, from the 80s at the Diamond Club

3) Colin James - Live at Halifax.

I still have those shows on SuperBeta Hi Fi taped from the original much broadcasts.:D

BTW, “STYX – CAUGHT IN THE ACT” is finally getting issued on DVD in December.

this thread should be kept alive...wow...great reading for the last half hour.

My ALL TIME FAVE concert DVD is:
Yellow Matter Custard. One Night in New York City.
Whether you are a Beatles fan or just an admirer of great musicianship and telent, this is a great show.

YMC is:
Mike Portnoy (one of the world's greatest drummers), Neal Morse (of Spock's Beard..super talented and great voice), Paul Gilbert (one of the world's greatest guitar players), and Matt Bissonette (one of the greatest bass players of all time) play 32 Beatles tunes in a 1 GIG tour in 2003.

It is a solid 9.8/10, with the video lighting quality being a bit off I can't go 10, but the audio is a 10 and the content is a gazillion/10!

Forget about PQ, AQ, or whatnot.

I want my Madonna Live in Japan (Mitsubishi Special)
all Gloria Estefan, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Kylie Minogue music videos AND concerts please!

If the master is not in High Def, that's fine, just encode everything in VC-1 and cram them onto two BD-50 !! (one BD-50 for the music videos, another for the concerts; one set per artist).
