Arrested Development S1-3
Wow! What a great show, I don't know how I missed it. Fantasticly written! In the same humour as Larry Sanders and Curb, and with no laugh track (huge bonus). This one will definitely be something I pull out every year or so and rewatch. Highly recommended!

+1 to "Arrested Development". A buddy of mine recently lent me Season 1 on DVD and I loved it! (My wife, not so much.) He's got Seasons 2 and 3 on DVD as well, so I'm hoping to borrow them in the near future.

At the Super Rock festival held in Japan in 1984, there were 4 headlining acts: Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi, all of whom have gone on to sell millions of records, except for one, Anvil.
Despite their ambition and being the inspiration for many bands that followed, the Canadian band was unable to achieve the same level of success. Instead, singer and guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow drives trucks for Children's Choice Catering, delivering food to schools and institutions. Drummer Robb Reiner works in construction.

This is a fantastic documentary about two guys who vowed to rock out together until they were old, never giving up on their dream. At times funny, pathetic, and utterly heartbreaking, this movie and its subjects draws so many parallels to the classic "mockumentary" This Is Spinal Tap. However, Anvil, The Story of Anvil is all true.

The movie features interviews with other musicians who have been influenced by the band, including Slash (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), Tom Araya (Slayer), Lemmy (Hawkwind, Motörhead), Scott Ian (Anthrax, Stormtroopers Of Death), and Lars Ulrich (Metallica).

this movie quenched my thirst (and preference) for suspense, mystery movie .etc. i particularly enjoy the acting of anthony hopkins.

Fracture: is a 2007 legal/crime suspense film from both New Line Cinema and Castle Rock Entertainment, directed by Gregory Hoblit and starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling. Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) discovers that his wife has been having an affair. He then murders her and uses the justice system to prove his innocence. However, William Beachum (Ryan Gosling) is a determined lawyer bound to prove his guilt.
I loved that film as well ... great suspense!

Goodbye Solo - An immigrant cabbie and a surly old fare form an unlikely friendship when the old man offers his driver $1000 for a one way trip to the top of a local mountain. The cabbie fears the worst and tries to show his new friend there's still plenty to live for.
A gentle, affecting little character study, sometimes tender, sometimes tragic

True story of a Mormon Church sanctioned (by Brigham Young) slaughter of a group of pioneers. Absolutely chilling, talk about escaping justice.

A couple of TV series to supplement the dreck on the networks.

Spiral, an excellent French cop show. The French title is Engrenages. French with English subtitles.

Outrageous Fortune, kiwi craziness about a small-time Auckland crime family who are trying to go straight but can't quite figure out how to do so. Serious New Zealand accents.

A multi-region DVD player and multi-system TV are handy for stuff like this.

Recieved the Blu-ray trilogy Wrath of Khan,Search for Spock , and The Vogage Home as a Christmas gift. Only had time to watch W of K so far.
The movie has been re-mastered.Looks great on BD.There a few blurry backgrounds , but general PQ and SQ is good.Hard to believe this movie is 28 years old ! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie.I still shiver when Khan drops that bug in Chekov's ear !
Can't wait to watch the other two movies very soon !

For the first time in recent memory laughed myself into choking fits. A little more polish and this would have been an iconic movie, if it is not already. 4.999 Stars

1999 Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub

For four years, the crew of the NSEA Protector donned their uniforms and set off on thrilling and often dangerous missions in space--then their series was canceled. Twenty years later, the five...
A group of aliens who have mistaken intercepted television transmissions for "historical documents" arrive at a convention and whisk "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" (Tim Allen) and his crew into space to help them in their all-too-real war against a deadly adversary. With no script, no director, and no clue about real interstellar travel, the make-believe crew of the Protector has to turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the aliens believe them to be.
DreamWorks' science fiction action-comedy Galaxy Quest thus brings a new twist to the time-honored predicament of the fish out of water.

Very clever movie, highly underrated, kid friendly, if you have not seen it enjoy.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - Tim, a whiny nerd living on a tiny Atlantic fishing island, aspires to be an inventor, but his creations always fail spectacularly. When he accidentally launches into the clouds a machine that turns water into food, the resulting showers of tasty comestibles make him a hero to the townspeople...until the machine malfunctions and threatens to destroy the island with supersized snackables.

If it weren't for Mr. T and Steve the monkey, this lame, non-Pixar animated flick would have been a complete write-off.

+1 for Arrested Development. Borrowed all three seasons on DVD over the holidays and am half way through the first season. Abosultely hilarious - we're loving it. And I usually don't go for "network" TV shows (usually stick to HBO/Showtime series) but this one is more intelligently written and a little edgier than most

The disc was sitting at the library so I took what I could get.

I have never seen Battle star Galactia in HD or on a moderately large screen (37")
It looks beautiful, the quality of stories and acting put it up there with the best series ever created.

I join those who thought the series finale was less than satisfying, the rest of the trip was FRACKING EXCELLENT.

Michael Jackson's This Is It - Michael Jackson and his massive entourage rehearse in preparation for an aborted (due to his death) fifty-concert run at London's O2 Arena in 2009-2010.

This "behind the scenes" movie is worth watching for the insight it provides into the monumental levels of effort and co-ordination that go into preparing a spectacle worthy of the "King of Pop". There are catchy songs (which, thanks to excellent AQ of the DVD, really sound great), solid musicianship, some interesting choreography and slick props.

Beyond that, it's also a chance to gaze upon Michael Jackson, the developmentally-arrested man-child who - stripped of his back-up singers and dancers, musicians, choreographers, directors, production crew and sets - is a performer of unquestionable but over-hyped talent.

The Boys Are Back - Clive Owen plays a sportswriter who has to learn how to be a father to his son when his wife succumbs to cancer in this heartwarming Australian family melodrama that offers a few laughs and many sad moments along the way.

Perhaps the last real DiNiro movie, it was directed by the legendary John Frankenhiemer. Action sequences that make you wince and enough bent metal to keep Maco on overtime for a year. A group of mercs sign up for some wet work in France, carnage and betrayal ensue.

Best known for making Audi's a must have. I thought the line was "need a car with some push" when actually it was "need a car with some shove"

Michael Douglas plays a multi-millionaire that receives a gift certificate from his rebellious younger brother (Sean Penn) for a mysterious "game" which alters Douglas' life with sinister overtones. Excellent movie/horrible transfer. In serious need of an update as it comes as a 4:3 on one side and 1:2.35 on the other. AQ is okay PQ is brutal.

A modern version of the Screwball Comedy. A Mike Judge product. Not a barnburner but a perfect little movie. The owner of a company making Vanilla Extract faces troubles at home and work. A few belly laughs, lots of snickers and smiles. A wonderful cameo by Gene Simmons as a ambulance chasing lawyer.

For its genre 4 out of 5 stars.
