Click - With his personal relationships unravelling because of pressures at work, Michael, a struggling architect, wishes he could take control of his life - a wish that is soon granted when he is presented with a remote control that will literally let him do just that. Joy turns to horror as the remote "learns" Michael's preferences and begins to automatically fast-forward him too quickly into his own future. As he approaches his death, Michael finally understands the lessons he should have learned long ago...but is it too late to undo the damage already done?

Not a great movie, but another moderately entertaining Sandler flick.

The Lost Room Nifty miniseries that aired last winter on the SciFi channel. A hotel room that does not exist contains everyday objects that in the real world are indestructible and each possesses an unique power. A police officer must track down these objects in an attempt to recover his lost daughter. Entertaining and unique concept that solves the main mystery but leaves many others dangling after 6 episodes.

I quite enjoyed it and hope that future installments are eventually green lit.

Trois Couleurs: Rouge (the final instalment in director Krzysztof Kieslowski's acclaimed trilogy) - A lonely young fashion model who accidentally runs over a dog discovers that its owner, a retired judge and cynical recluse, likes to eavesdrop on his neighbours' telephone conversations. Despite her initial disgust at his peccadillo, a bond develops between them...and the movie drags on.

The clumsy and suffocating layers of "artsiness" that marred "Bleu" managed also to turn this film and its simple story into dull, overwrought and overly-red drudgery.

Stranger Than Fiction - IRS agent Harold Crick is jolted out of his dull but comfortable life by a disembodied voice apparently narrating a story that comprises his life and, quite disturbingly, foretells of his death. As he frantically searches for the narrator, hoping to prevent her from reaching the story's grim conclusion, he finds love and a new purpose that desperately make him want to live. Will his ending be the tragedy the story demands, or will he find the author of his demise in time to save the hero?

To say that this is Will Ferrell's "Punch-Drunk Love" is, in my opinion, compliment enough (given that I've never been a fan of his), but I'll add that it's a great little movie with an interesting and enjoyable story and some fine performances from the entire cast. I recommend it.

(As a side note, while the film's actual ending is fine, the "original ending" would have been much more powerful and would, quite frankly, have done a good European film proud.)

I'm sorry but I can't disagree more. This(along with the other 2 parts of the tricolore tryptych) is in my all-time Top 10 movies , and it has both thoughtfulness and cinematic vision truly uncommon in modern cinema(only films by Peter Greenaway come close in their visual glory). First of all - all three movies are to exemplify the ideals behind the three colours of the French flag: liberty, equality and fraternity. One has to ask himself: if I were to write and then direct a movie about fraternity(or brotherhood of man) in the modern world, in a relevant and visually arresting way - what would I do?
Especially if you're a foreigner(or an outsider) in a strange land trying to speak to the ideals of a country that is in the process of merging into a united Europe. Director Kieslowski succeeds admirably by creating a story of a young woman who stumbles into the life of a retired, curmudgeonly old judge who happens to snoop on other people's telephone conversations. At first repulsed - she gradually befriends(or if you will - fraternizes with) the man, in the process learning of another young lawyer whose experiences seem to mimic the judge's unhappy life. All this takes place in Switzerland(the country with a largely red national flag), and incorporates uncounted red accents(a phone here, a red traffic light there, a red car there), elements that are both naturally occurring in our lives but when skillfully inserted into the film - remind us of the subject at stake without looking contrived. The film also explores the subjects of ethics, fate and chance - themes that are rarely considered in our everyday lives. And lastly - in its last scenes it skillfully binds the lives of characters in all 3 of the Three Colours movies in a thought-provoking and hopeful way.
Even if the previous reviewer didn't like the film(and that is his right) - please do yourself a favour and watch the Three Colour Trilogy for yourself to make your own mind about it.
And if my recommendation is not enough - please check the reviews by virtually any film critic(Ebert, Berardinelli, DVD Verdict["Kieslowski's trio of masterpieces constitutes that rarest of cinematic creations. These are art films for the people"], DVD Times etc. etc.).

The Illusionist - Pretty Good! Norton is awesome.

Sopronos Season 1. Not bad. Cant really get into it like 24. When my wife and I bought 24 last year, we were instantly hooked. Sopronos not so much.

Only 4 episodes in, well give it a shot.

Happy Feet - Mumble the Penguin can't sing, but he sure can dance! Unfortunately, that doesn't sit well with the other members of his colony, so he cast out. After hooking up with some stereotypically "zany Hispanic" penguins and a Barry White-wannabe oracle, he sets out to find the "aliens" who are stealing all the fish, so he can ask them to please stop. A little adventure, a whole lotta dancing and - tippety-tap - everything's sunny again.

Copious amounts of singing and tap-dancing fail to drown out the thin story and lame dialogue. I didn't have high expectations for this film, but I was disappointed nonetheless. My wife, on the other hand, thought it was cute, especially for kids.

Driving Lessons - Rupert Grint steps away from his Harry Potter support character in this odd, sometimes unsettling, coming-of-age story about a young man trying to break free of the oppressive cloak thrown over his life by his very religious mother by taking on a part-time job as a driver for an aging, eccentric actress. Grint is appropriately sullen and conflicted as he tries to spread his wings and Julie Walters is zany as the actress who sparks his fight for independence, but the underlying tone of creepiness keeps this movie from finding its heart as a quirky British comedy.

This movie has probably been mentioned but I'm not going to read 90 pages to find out. The Prestige. I ignored this movie on the shelf ever since it was released. It just didn't look like a movie I would like.
I LOVED this movie. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

Astronaut Farmer - Didn't do it for me, would be ok for the kids. The sound was not very good.

Black Snake Moan - Fairly weird but i found it ok. Christina Ricci, simply put is wow!

BREACH - I was surprised to see Nanuuk's review [post #1336] of this movie as my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Some of the suspense is lost in a movie like this that is based on a true story because you already know the ending.
I think Chris Cooper was great as Robert Hanssan and enjoyed Ryan Phillippe's role as well.
This is one of the better movies I have seen lately, a nice surprise.

Black Snake Moan - I think the studio may have missed the boat on the advertising and promotion for this movie.
I saw Samuel Jackson and Christina interviewed about this movie and that changed my mind about renting it.
The cover and title made me think it was a sleazy torture exploitation movie, [not that there is anything wrong with those ;)], but the interview gave me a much differetn/better slant on it.
Here is the plot synopsis from IMDB.
Plot Outline:

A God-fearing bluesman (Jackson) takes to a wild young woman (Ricci) who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it.

I am always willing to rent a movie with Samuel L. Jackson in it, so I hope
I'm right on this one.

The Tiger and the Snow - Roberto Begnini's latest fanciful love story is set against the war in Baghdad; when his estranged wife, and the love of his life, is injured by an explosion, he travels to Iraq to help her recovery and possibly win back her heart. This got absolutely skewered by the critics (17% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes); while the comedic moments are a little uneven, and no doubt Begnini is an acquired taste, I thought the film quite charming and Begnini's indominatable optimism in the face of tall odds kinda uplifting.

The Last King of Scotland - A young Scottish doctor on assignment to a rural Ugandan medical facility is befriended by Idi Amin shortly after Amin's rise to power in 1971 and bestowed the (dubious) honour of becoming his personal physician. Over the next few years, as Amin's behaviour becomes more erratic, the relationship alternates between that of close confidant and despised foreigner. Events come to a head during the 1976 airline hostage crisis, at which time the doctor...

...well, you'll just have to watch the movie to find out. :p It's an intriguing film with an interesting story and an excellent - if, at times, downright creepy - performance by Forest Whitaker. Strong performances by some of the other cast members, too. Well worth a viewing.

Titanic - Special Collector's Edition -- I'm still quite amazed that I actually bought and watched this .... after so many years from its initial release, my very first-viewing of this movie!! At less than 15 bucks in a Wal-Mart bin, and a lady-friend truly wanting to watch it, what could I do, I succumbed to these new pressures, and went for it!!

After 3hrs & 17min's of viewing last evening, I guess I would sum it up as being not all as bad I had thought it would be ... a large part was ... but for the most part, it was quite entertaining and worth the view. Will check out the Disc 3 "extra stuff" this eve -- too tired for any more last eve!!

Will admit it sure looked good on our plasma!!

Not a fan of Titanic. It's basically The Young and The Restless meets the Loveboat.

This movie could have been so good. The real voyage featured some of the worlds richest and most famous people. Instead of featuring these real people you make some up?

A Night to Remember is the best movie of this subject matter but it's not cheap.

Titanic did feature some good sets and costumes though.
