I think the only good thing about "The Brothers Grimm" DVD is the "Trailer Park Boys Movie" trailer. I'm not a TPB fan, but I had a good chuckle form it. :)

Into the West - 12-TV-hour (6 episodes) Mini-Series presented by TNT and Dreamworks TV, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. We never saw this one when it was originally broadcast on tv. Watched episode one last evening and it sure looks good (including some great Alberta scenary!). Lots more to watch, including a disc of 'extras'.

The Great Raid

Excellent WW2 movie about a little known ambitious and dangerous rescue mission at the turn of the Pacific war. There aren't a lot of WW2 movies about the Pacific theatre so this was a nice change. It doesn't have the big fireworks and hollywood feel of Saving Private Ryan or Blackhawk Down, but it's very realistic right down to how plans and tactics are made. As with pretty much all other movies out there, there is a romance sub-plot, but it's not overdone and does not overshadow the real story. This is the best Pacific WW2 movie I've seen in a while...

After watching Rome on TMN-HD, it rekindled my interest in watching this great PBS mini-series from the 70s.

I'm also watching Battlestar Galactica Season 1 (I can't wait for Season 2 to resume in the states so that I can *cough*download*cough* it again instead of waiting for Space to play catch-up) and Shogun.

My friend is trying to get me into 24 by lending me the DVDs of all 4 seasons.

And thanks to my girlfriend, I'm now watching The O.C. Season 1 & 2 on DVD. Kill me.

I saw Serenity in the theatre and liked it alot. I admit I had watched some Firefly episodes beforehand but still I was impressed with what Joss Whedon did with his first full-length motion picture on a, relatively small, 40-million dollar budget. Very good.

I saw SERENITY in the theater, as well, and was blown away by the translation to the big screen. JW really added some shockers to the Firefly universe. I hope there is a sequel. I suspect my daughter is getting me the DVD for Xmas.

Gina Torres is incredibly hot.

Hitch - Funny movie. Liked this one and laughed a ton. Kevin James is great. If you don't watch King of Queens, then you probably won't like this movie.
Watched it on MCHD. PQ was very good, maybe a little fuzzy though. Not like some other HD movies. Good scenery of NY though overshadows any picture problems. It was given a 4/10 for picture on IGN DVD. It was OAR, 5.1 as well. In a comedy, there is not alot of surround action. Music was good, as it is featured predominantly in the movie. 5.1 was clean.

The Brothers Grimm - Matt Damon and Heath Ledger star as travelling con-artist brothers who encounter a genuine fairy-tale curse that their usual trickery won't resolve.

This piece of cr@p wasn't particularly clever or funny or even well-written - I'm surprised we sat through the entire mess!

With any luck, tonight's viewing of The Exorcism of Emily Rose will be more enjoyable...

The Exorcism of Emily Rose - Laura Linney stars as a lawyer hired to defend a priest (Tom Wilkinson) charged with the negligent homicide of a girl upon whom he was performing an exorcism.

The movie started off quite well - interesting story and characters, good pacing - but it really lost steam in the last half hour and the ending was dismally weak. Too bad.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin - Freaking hilarious! I laughed throughout the entire movie. Carell is great. I see why this movie made $109M. DVD was a little soft, but Audio was very good.

The Football Factory -- A gritty, low-budget film about the culture of soccer hooligans in London, sort of the anti-Notting Hill ;)

March Of The Penguins - Everything about this movie screams for an HD treatment. And I will surely watch it again in HD because we really enjoyed it. The scenery is stunning! Excellent family movie with very touching moments. However, there are some parts where I wished Morgan Freeman would explain why some things are happening like when that predator duck is rounding up the chicks to choose his victim while the mothers are just standing around watching. But the whole process of marching to create one single new life is more than amazing, it's humbling. I don't know which format this movie will go for (HD-DVD/BluRay), but I want it in HD...
