: What are you watching on DVD these days?
RNAChemist 2005-11-02, 08:01 PM I watched Exorcist:the version you've never seen Halloween night. It was good movie, not nearly as scary as I remember but worth the two hours. Funnily enough, it was on "space" that night but the PQ difference between the two was striking (no doubt).
Hey JesseJ, read the opening lines of the movie. Talk about poor grammer. I think hands get cut off because they are the easiest appendage to replace.
JesseJ 2005-11-02, 08:49 PM How is the Big Lebowski DVD?
I wanted to buy it, I just heard about the remastered version.
I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm too busy to throw it in tonight.
eljay 2005-11-04, 10:48 PM Batman Begins -While it was mercifully free of the goofiness that marred previous Batman movies, it wasn't entirely satisfying. But it was enjoyable enough, and Christian Bale makes a good "Caped Crusader".
ilovemusic 2005-11-05, 05:55 AM Star Wars 3
Was totally awsome on our 106 in screne, projector.... The quality of the audio and video was superb, and the story was better than all the other star wars, my daughter was right, she said it was the best movie she has watched in quite some time!!
MarcP 2005-11-05, 06:42 AM I must have a different version because it only has 1 disk and the packaging lists no extra features. I got ripped off.
If you bought it at Rogers Video, you got ripped off. My neighbor's pretty upset about it.
bembol 2005-11-05, 08:21 AM Cheers Seasn 6 DVD
Wasn't a fan of it until they introduced Rebecca...!!!
JesseJ 2005-11-06, 12:33 PM Fever Pitch - It's kinda hard asking a baseball fan to give an honest opinion about a baseball movie. I loved this movie. If you liked Fallon from SNL, you would like him in this movie. Plus, it's all about the Sox winning the Series last year (not Chicago).
johnp'in'bc 2005-11-06, 04:18 PM Ouch!! sprung for the 'Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection' this morning!! Couldn't resist any longer. We watched a little of 'Shadow of a Doubt' on the tube last evening and found ourselves hooked. We plan to watch the whole movie this eve -- it'll be our first taste from the set (of 14 movies).
Lots of great viewing ahead, to compensate for the many evenings of dark, damp, and dreary weather!! Hope you're enjoying your set james99!!
james99 2005-11-06, 04:49 PM Shadow of a Doubt was supposed to be Hitchcock's favourite movie.
I have the set but I haven't really watched it since I picked up all 14 movies during the spring. All these movies were previously released as 2 seperate boxsets a few years ago and I never knew about this boxset.
This is a great set and if you don't have the other boxset (which came out about a year ago) then pick it up as well.
Let me know what you think of the other movies and you might want to watch them in order.
johnp'in'bc 2005-11-06, 05:40 PM "Let me know what you think of the other movies and you might want to watch them in order."
Will do. And agree re: watching them 'in order', and had planned to do so. Just wanted to catch this one now, as we would like to see it from start to finish while it's a bit fresh in our minds, etc. Then we'll drop back one, and start the rest in their proper time sequence.
We're still into the Hitchcock tv series stuff as well, but progressing slowly -- too much to watch, and not enough time to watch, at times!!
Thumper_ehhhhh 2005-11-06, 07:00 PM Call me silly but this morning about 9 am we put in star wars 1 then 2,3,4 and am now watching 5 then we will watch the last one before bed. My wife and I have been waiting for years to do this. Unfortunatlly the kids arent as inthused. They have watched parts but are watching other movies in there room.

Last week Book TV started showing season 1. They just finished the last season and have started over. I have season 1 on DVD so I might stop watching it on tv. It's on daily, several times a day. Great series.
eljay 2005-11-13, 10:34 AM Having previously enjoyed The Transporter (a couple of years ago), I recently picked up the DVD and watched it last night with my wife. It's hardly a great film, but it is a fun action flick...and my wife actually enjoyed it, too! :o
The PQ is great and the DTS audio track is sweet.
RNAChemist 2005-11-14, 02:22 AM I watched Halloween this afternoon. Good flick. Not scary or gory at all. Typical John Carpenter type direction. I can see why Jamie Lee Curtis became a star; she was fantastic in her first movie role.
ilovemusic 2005-11-14, 05:49 AM I just watched (studio) "54" on IFC , it was a pretty good movie , and considering I come from the whole disco era , I found the music in the movie pretty good
eljay 2005-11-18, 10:07 PM Madagascar -The "special features" short, The Madagascar Penguins In 'A Christmas Caper' was far more enjoyable than the feature presentation, which was irritating and unamusing.
(By comparison, Robots is a work of genius.)
eljay 2005-11-19, 09:04 PM Lemony Snicket's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' - A very curious and surprisingly dark movie about three orphaned children and their devious guardian. It was...interesting.
MikeH 2005-11-21, 04:08 PM Decided to add my most recent movies:
Anchorman (Will Ferrel, Christia Applegate) - Everyone kept telling me this was hilarious. It was funny but there was no way it was ever going to live up to the hype I was being fed.
Secret Window (Johnny Depp, John Turturro) - I liked this more than I thought I would. Suprised I didn't figure out the story sooner. Depp was good, story was so so.
Crash (Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon) - Fantastic cast. At first I thought I wasn't going to like this movie but it was great. Yet another movie that intertwines stories & characters but as a whole was too powerful to be considered a criticism. The kind of movie that eats at your brain even though the show is over. And for the rest of my male pig brethern - naked Jennifer Esposito :) . Without question the most recommended of the three.
Mike
eljay 2005-11-26, 10:40 PM A nostalgic impulse (will I ever learn?!) spurred me to rent Predator and watch Ahhnold kick extraterrestrial @ss in the jungle.
And, so, another old favourite bites the biscuit... :(
MarcP 2005-11-26, 10:54 PM War Of The Worlds
I really don't like Tom Cruise, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's got some intense scenes and a DTS soundtrack that matches. There were a couple of inconsistencies with some electronic stuff working and some not, but I tried not to let that bother me.
