I really like Fight Club too! The sound track is amazing!

I watched Resident Evil (Superbit) last night for the first time, and I must say it was a cool movie. I think it is close to being as good as Fifth Element for superbit quality.

Gattaca is an excellent and underrated film. One of the better Sci Fi films that's been released in the past 10 years.

The Beverly Hillbillies - Ultimate Collection, Volume 1 -- "Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed" .... and all that fun stuff & such!! Some comic relief from, and inbetween all the serious viewings we have on the go. It's a just-released box set, with new transfers of the originally-broadcast episodes (and finally, not the "in the junk bin" stuff that was only available previously), and lots of extras, etc. If a fan, it looks like a fun ride!!

Yeah I have seen it and I do own the superbit version. (It was my second superbit).

I agree it is an awesome movie. Very realistic view of the ethics of genetic engineering and the potential consequences.

There is a nice scene where the Jude Law character (the superior genetic being, also a cripple from an accident) is crawling toward the spiral staircase which resembles from the camera shot that of a DNA double helix. The character then tries very painfully to climb up the staircase. I thought this was a neat pay on the irony of being a genetically engineered person and ascending what appears to be a symbolic representation of the geneitc code. Deep!

High Tension DVD

I watched this horror film from writter/director Alexandre Aja a few night ago. It was different than what I was expecting from a horror movie made by a director from France. It was an apt title because the story was full of tension and had me on the edge of my seat until the end. The ending left me feeling cheated but after reflecting on it for a while I don't hate it as much. If you like horror movies and can stomache a few really gory scenes I would recomend watching this movie. It's about a serial killer who kidnaps a young woman and her best friend tries and save her. The dialog is half in french and half in english. I watched the subtitled vesion but there is also a dubbed version on the DVD. If anyone else sees it let me know what you think of the ending.

The Longest Yard (2005) - Great remake. I was skeptical as the original is freaking great. This was a great movie, with excellent football action. If you're a sports fan, I reccommend this flick. PQ was very good. SQ was excellent, with deep bass for the hits, and a great soundtrack.

Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat:

Nominated for three Academy Awards, Alfred Hitchcock's "absorbing brilliantly executed" (Hollywood Reporter) World War II drama, is a remarkable story of human survival.

After their ship is sunk in the Atlantic by Germans, eight people are stranded in a lifeboat, among them a glamorous journalist (Tallulah Bankhead), a tough seaman (John Hodiak), a nurse (Mary Anderson) and an injured sailor (William Bendix). Their problems are further compounded when they pick up a ninth passenger - the Nazi captain from the U-boat that torpedoed them. With its powerful interplay of suspense and emotion, this legendary classic is a microcosm of humanity, revealing the subtleties of man's strengths and frailties under extraordinary duress.

Considering Batman Begins earned over $200 million at the box office and is one of the biggest hits of 2005 chances are high that there will be a sequel.

I also, think Batman Begins is a great movie. IMO Batman Begins is the best Batman film yet.

The Mark of Zorro - Special Edition (10/18):

Regarded by many as the finest telling of the Zorro legend, the Mark Of Zorro was nominated for a 1940 Oscar for Best Music.

Tyrone Power stars as 19th Century nobleman Don Diego de Vega, whose father, the mayor of Los Angeles, is removed from office by the sinister Captain Pasquale (Basil Rathbone), and a now corrupt "alcalde".

By day, the crooked politicians rob the citizenry at every turn, and at night, Don Diego wearing a mask, defies their laws and avenges the innocents. As he leaves his trademark - the letter "Z"- wherever he goes, he also leaves an impression on the mayor's niece, (Linda Darnell), who can't help but love the hero in disguise.

Brad, you should know better. I watched the B&W version :D Both are supposed to be restored versions.

It's a flipper disc, which I'm not a fan of. I believe the previous version of this DVD is one of the "Fox Classics". This one was a little more $$ so I picked this one up instead.

Yeah I'll just stick with what I've got (Studio Classics #12). Same extras.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - I approached this movie with an open mind, aware that it would likely not measure up to the books (which I had recently re-read) but fully prepared to cut it some slack in light of the many positive reviews and comments it has received.

Nevertheless, I found it to be a disappointing piece of cr@p that begs the question "What the hell was Douglas Adams thinking?!" The only remotely positive aspect was the casting of Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox.

Read the books or rent the original BBC series, but avoid this film.

Also saw Batman Begins on DVD. Great movie, IMHO the best Batman movie yet. However, I was a little disappointed by the PQ as I could see some shimmering on faces on non action scened. Sharpness was also not that good on these scenes. I suspect the studio decided not to release the DVD with super PQ as this will probably be one of the films they will re-release on HD DVD or Blu-Ray.

Sound was great though with lots of sub 20 hz rumble to exercise the sub.

I watched Amityville 2005 last night. Not too bad. A bit cheesy and over the top for a based on real life movie. I cant remember the first version but from what I have read they are very similar.

I think Sahara and BAtman Begins both of which got really good reviews are my next rentals.
