We are at the cottage, 4100 SD receiver, direct connected to 91 LNB. No problems at all
9141 HD connected to 91 LNB and 82 LNB with SW21 (No problems on 91)
Just can't get 82.
We have tried everything we can think of based on this thread

It worked before
check the cabling going to the lnbf.

are you on a rental or purchase? I hope on rental....

I think you lost your skue with 82. this can happen with strong wind that will move very slightly the dish. a tech will realign it...

in order to have the tech you need to call.. remember if you are on purchase the tech`s visit will cost you 75$ (if you did not have any offers recently they may be able to refund you that amount.. it depends on your account) .. since you will be calling, go again through all the troubleshoot with them to be sure.. they will make you do all the checkswitch all over again.... a trick i did and it worked sometimes, is to performe a checkswitch several time (max 4) and press view tv from the remote.. the tech may have you move the receiver to another location if permitted to find out if it is the receiver the prob or not... many questions needs to be asked in here to isolate the issue..

hope this helps.

post the outcome

Own the receiver, Cabling is fine from switch to 6141
We changed the switch
91 is best we have ever had (91%)
I am thinking a receiver issue ?

i dont think a receiver issue, otherwise you will not be able to get 91 either.

Ok, if not the receiver, then what ?

We had HD (sat 82/91) at the same location 2months ago

We have spent all day cutting trees, running checkswitch, rebooting receiver, changing the SW21, repointing dish, nothing works

The SAT 91 signal is better than ever

Why not try to go directly from the 82 LNBF and see what you get.

Where's the cottage? New 82 Sat launched in Sept. has different footprint - the further south you go, the less likely you'll get a signal from it.

swich the cable to go directly to 82, if nothing then the realignment is the reason.. you can try changing the cabling going to 82 also.

We are in Beaver Valley (Flesherton) , near Collingwood (1/2hour)
We have replaced everything including the cables, SW21, LNB's ect
We have taken the switch out and tried direct to both 91 and 82 separately
91 always works and 82 never works no matter how we point, elevate or skew
We have done more switch tests than you can imaging
Have Sat 91 at 86%
Going home now, will keep watching this thread if anyone has any further ideas

take the receiver with you and test it at home, if it does the same then you know it`s your receiver, if it works fine at home, you know it`s your allignment.

It really does sound like an alignment issue. Is the 91 signal comming in from the LNBF at the 91 location on the "Y" yolk.?

he said yes... he overpassed the sw to have direct lines going, therefor we know that hte sw is not deffective. the cabling to be swapped from 82 to 91 to see if it`s the cabling has been done... i suggested that he try the receiver somewhere else and see if it follows. the troubleshoots that the tech will do are following:
check lnbf y, check cabling, check switch and realign... unless he has been using the wrong rg (which i doubt)...

82 never works no matter how we point, elevate or skew

That sounds like 91 is coming in on the 82 LNBF to me.

yes.. then he needs to change the location of the cables

NO. He needs to re-point the Dish.

Back home now. Did not see the post about bringing the receiver home until too late.
The receiver works perfectly on SD channels, is it possible for a receiver malfunction tpo czuse this problrm ? I have not seen any posts about that.

We were definately on 91 with the 91 LNB (we covered them up to confir)

I am thinking either the receiver or pointing.issues,

I guess it is time for an onsite installer.

I'm new, so please be gentle.....

I'm having much the same, if opposite issues. I can dial in sat 82 no problem, but can never seem to find sat 91. it stays locked into sat 82 and says wrong sat. I've checked all the cables, connections, etc. Currently the switch test says port 1b missing, if I flip the cables at the SW44, it will return a port 2b missing statement. And yes, I've replaced that section of cable, with no change in results. Help!

I had the exact same issue (strong 91, nada 82) and ran through all the tests - cables/switches/LNBs, etc. - and my issue turned out to be dish location - dish was set up with a blockage (wall) to the left (when standing behind the dish) that was preventing signal from 82. Since 82 is also "lower" than 92 (again, when standing behind the dish), you might also be blocked to 82 if the dish is aiming over a roof.

If you've tried everything else and still can't get anything on 82, try relocating the dish (although I note from your previous post you used to get 82 at the present dish location).

Your reference to switches suggests you haven't followed the standard protocol when you are having trouble getting both 91 and 82 - see post 91. You should NOT have switch installed when you're first trying to get signal.
