I have an adapter hooked to the 91 lnb for 82.
Doesn't look prety but it worked.
Is it extremely dificult to find a Sat. with an 18" dish?
Or is just me?

I would like to say just you but I have been aiming Dish's for years.....lol

Take a TV out near the Dish, rotate, left to right, then go up slightly and repeat.

On a 20" Dish, it should be around 38/40 degrees of declination. If the Mast is Vertical....

Looks like the only conection I didn't check was a faulty one.
The cable going up the arm to the LNB was not grounded.
As soon as I replaced it, I have found the 2 birds.

I did use your suggestion and had a mini dvd player as a tv.
It works great, just need very long red, white and yellow cord.

Thanks for your help!
Great web site.

Hi guys Bell is no help with this
Have a dual tuner receiver when I run the switch test I have no sat 91
on either tuner (1 or 2). When I check the transponders on 91 I only
have a signal on the odd ones. I’m using a SW44 and I have another
receiver (5100) when I do the switch test its ok both sats come in
fine it’s on the first port of the sw44. It’s not the receiver I
moved another dual tuner receiver to this location and it does the
same thing but works fine at its original location
What would cause this. Only thing I can think of is the switch but
one port on it is ok can the other 3 ports be defective not letting
signal of even transponders through

Someone in this forum suggested not using the insertor out to the receiver to use another port. I tried that and no difference. I even replaced the transformer and insertor and still cant get sat 91 during the switch test. I dont understand how another sat receiver on this sw44 works fine.
Could it be the switch or maybe the LNB

Cable or connector issue.

Would you agree that because one other receiver works on the switch that it would not be an issue with the cable or the connectors coming from the dish it would only be the cable or connectors going to that one receiver

it would only be the cable or connectors going to that one receiver

Correct.

Hi all. I'm trying to set up a dish for 91 (I have a standard Def PVR) and all I can find is 82. I was reading through the forums and tried moving west about 9 degrees and a little lower and I found... 82 again?? Tried check switch and that didn't help. Still saying 82 Wrong Sat. it is a dual LNB 20" dish but I only have the LNB installed on the 91 side. I'm in Ottawa and started with the recommended settings for skew, angle etc. I've set up two others in the past without any issue. I got 100% signal on the first dish and 87 through trees at a cottage on the second so I'd like to think this shouldn't be too bad. However I am also at a loss for now on what I may be doing wrong. I have access to 2 different SAT finders. however they dont identify the Sat unless we can program a frequency for the 91 Sat. does anyone have a frequency that I'd need to input on the Sat finder? Any thoughts why i find the same Sat 9 degrees apart?

Thanks

I have been reading the forum for quite a while now and have found a lot of useful information that has got me this far, so I thank you for that. However, I have not seen anything related to my issue. I have had satellite for a long time and finally decided to make the jump to HD. I had an old Digiwav elliptical dish with two DGL-900D LNBs at home and decided to set it up. With the help of this forum I had success.

I have since added a second 6131 receiver and for the time hooked it up to my original SW21. I hooked the first 6131 up to my original dish since I still wanted it to work, but wanted HD on the new system (I need to get another SW21 and two more leads from the dish). Regardless I did a check switch on the new 6131 and it worked for a day, then the next day I had some issues with signal so I ran another check switch and I lost one bird. I checked the original 6131 and had the same result. I have reaimed my dish following all the instructions, and only been able to get 70% on 91 and 62% on 82, and when I hook the SW21 back in, run a check switch, I loose the 82. I am from between Kitchener and London and I know I should get close to 100%, so I moved my dish higher and still no improvement. I have switched LNBs with no luck. There is 25' of RG6 between each LNB and the SW21 and 100' up to the 6131. All of it brand new. I'm thinking its either a bad SW21 or my dish is wrong and cannot possibly get a better signal. My other dish is getting 70% on the 91 bird. Both dishes have a clear line of site.

I would suggest the following steps;

Set Skew for your location and do not change it again.
Ensure the Mast is vertical.
Run a line from 91 LNBF directly to Receiver (NO SWITCH).
Peak Signal.
Add in 82 LNBF and whatever switch's you are using.
Connect to Receiver.
Run Check Switch.
Watch TV.

Past few days my sig strength on 91 has dropped and the channels cut out occasionally (under heavier clouds). Below is my strength under clearer skies. Perhaps the skew is off a touch?

S91: T1 & T32 (57%)
S82: T1 & T32 (99%)

Bell mounted this dish last year. I have holes all over the side of the house from various mounting locations. The 'tech' barely spoke English, and he had to call another 'tech' for help (who did not speak English - only Spanish), etc. Was a complete joke all around.

EDIT: I have a feeling it might be the huge tree a few houses down. It is more to the right (west) and prob 50ft high at least.

first of all, sorry for my english, im a french canadian! I know that there is a french section, but there is a lot more people here so i hope a faster answer.

Ok, so i have a bell 9241 receiver and i get 97%signal for the nimiq 91% but nothing on the 82. when i run a check switch, it tells me that i have 91 ok on both channel, but no mention of the 82. So my question is, do i have to get signal on 82 to get a green ok on check swicth or do i have to get an green ok on 82 to get signal on 82?

Another reason why im asking this question is because i run a check switch without any cable plug in and it keeps telling me a green ok for 91.

thanks for answer

Is the cabling for the 9241 correct.? Check the drawings on this Forum for how it should be connected.

Do you say "yes" at the end of a Check Switch.? If not, then it will never change.

While in the Point dish Screen, MENU, 6, 1, 1, do you get signal levels on all transponders of 91 & 82, on both Tuner Inputs.

If I were to guess I would say the 82 LNBF is getting 91 signals, so your Dish would require re-pointing.
