Hate to bring this topic up again but I'm at my wits end. Being a former electronics tech, I don't believe I'm missing the obvious. To make a long story short, I have tried numerous methods to bring in 82 to no avail. I have tried on an 18" dish with two lnbs, with a huge signal on 91, skewing all angles to pull in 82, even adjusted elevation and azmith slightly as well. Now I'm trying with 2 satellite dishes. I'm bringing in 91 on the old 18" dish (just slightly skewed off 90 degs) with 90+ signal strength. BTW, this small 18" dish has a Y bracket with its lnb in the 91 position. My larger dish does not have a y bracket so I have been aiming with 0 skew all over the sky, and can't find 82 anywhere. I've talked to so many BEV agents (most giving different info) but basically, they all say I should find 82 very close to 91. The store that the HD installation upgrade was purchased from indicated that a larger dish was necessary but they didn't include a y bracket with it. The one on my original 18" won't fit the larger one. My location is about 90 kms north west of Campbell River, BC on the coast. Any help would be hugely appreciated. PS. I've tried with and without the switch. Tks

I found 91, moved up a couple degrees and off to the right (standing behind the dish) and found 82.

Well kato999, I would say keep it simple, DO NOT use an SW21 or SW44 for aiming.

As far as i know, Bell have NEVER supplied an 18" Dish with a "Y" Yolk, same goes for a 24" Dish, they are ONLY on the 20" Dish.

Set Skew for your location.
Use 1 LNBF in the 91 slot of the "Y" Yolk.
Connect directly from LNBF to Receiver.
Peak Signal.
Add second LNBF & SW21.
Run Check Switch.

I think the most common reason for people getting 91 but not 82 is trees/buildings/mountains preventing you from aiming at 82. 82 is lower in the sky than 91, so if you can't find it on the west coast, it could be because there's trees or mountains that aren't tall enough to block 91, but are tall enough to block 82. Try a different location for the dish(es).

I am currently using a 20" Dish with DP Twin and I am getting a consistently high reading on TP21 on all my receivers.

I am in the process of switching to a 20" Dish with a DPP twin LNB and I am wondering if anyone can suggest a better TP to use for aiming this new dish.

What about the other transponders.?

I do not see that much difference these days.

After making the switch to the DPP Twin using the same 2 wires, I find that you, Sir, are correct! Perhaps while switching I cleaned up some poor connections at the LNB?

Anyway, I now have a low of 75% on TP31 and a high of 100% on TP05 on 91W and most of the TP's on 82 are 100% but I never did have a problem with 82.

I am now ready for Winter in Winterpeg as I now have the dish positioned closer to where I can use my leaf blower to blow snow off the dish if necessary

is there any difference between the new dishes and older dishes? (does the new ones are better to capt signals?).

The major difference is that the early bell Dish only needed to capture signal from one orbital location, the 20" Dish as used by Bell TV (Exactly that same as the Dish 500, from dishnetwork) is the only one supplied by Bell for residential customers than captures signals from two orbital slots.

ok thanks I thougth the newer dish were better for capting signal.

Would one be able to use Dish Network Dish 1000.2 dish with the DPP twin LNB mounted instead of the DPP triple LNB? The dish looks to be bigger (I don't know the exact dimensions) so it should capture more signal.

hi...having a little trouble setting up my IRD for sats 82 and 91...I'm using a 622 modded to Bev and using just 1 TV.......I'm also using same sat set up as I did with my 6000 IRD.....a Dish 500 dish with dual lnb's....1 cable out from 82 lnb and 1 cable out from 91 and into sw21 switch...this is where I need some help....do I need to use the separator into back of 622 and when do I do a check switch test....thanx,

The seperator is ONLY when you are using a DPP LNBF or DPP Switch.

You need 2 x SW21's.

Also, as stated before, do all the aiming WITHOUT any kind of switch in the cable feed.

so....the 82 cable goes into 1 sw21 and 91 cable into other sw21...and then each sw21 outlet cable goes into sat 1 input and sat 2 input ?...sorry,if I seem confused...

After an entire afternoon and evening pouring over these forums I have not found my answer. I have a 2700 and a 6131 with a dish pro quad LNB. I have strong 91 and I can detect 82 on TP 1 and 15 "only" but it says wrong satellite and 91 as well...I did a check switch shows as xx for 82 and picks up the quad...and both my 2700 and the 6131 have my normal programming with the 91 sat.

Can I be locked on the 82 by accident...and still have programming? the 6131 has DP on the back so I don't need an adapter. We have never been able to get any stronger on the 82 and only on those 2 tps...as well.

Secondly for some reason the only cables that give me signal are from the left (91) side...although i know it has a built in 44 switch so that shouldn't make a difference....and I did switch the cables around to confirm.

Thirdly...we had picked up wrong satellites for echostar on both channels earlier so I know at least we can receive...

admittedly when I was doing my search I was only hooked up to the 2700 would that have made a difference?

Any help would be appreciated.
