With our 24" we get 100% on many transponders, so just a little tweaking of the dish should improve the signal.

I have a Belus HI Def rcvr in our house we take camping, I have my old Bell dish on a portable stand but I cannot get sat 91 at all.
When I hook the 91 LNB directly to the receiver I find 82 but not 91 no matter what I try. (it says wrong satellite)
Is it possible the LNB for 91 is bad, would that explain finding 82 but not 91?
The LNB's are mounted correctly and I've quadruple checked what coax goes where.

82 comes in great, 93% etc but when I hook the LNB's to the switch and check it I only get 82, any ideas?
Thanks
Will

Do you have the Skew set correctly.?

If you do, the using a line from the 82 LNBF, directly to the Receiver (No Switch), peak the signal, then attach the Switch and the line from 91 LNBF, you should now have BOTH birds.

If you really consider the LNBF to be bad, simply swap it over with the one at the 82 slot.

Thanks for your help.
If I'm reading the skew thing on the back of the dish properly I think it's set right.

I tried hooking 82 to the rcvr and peaking it, hook up the switch and both LNBF's and still only get 82, spent hours scewing with it on our last trip.

Are the LNBF's interchangeable? I know nothing about sat tv (as you can tell) but I thought the LNBF's would be different for the 2 satellites?

(is this the proper one for sat 91?

The LNBF's are the same, they are NOT position specific.

What kind of Switch.?

So the 91 LNBF is the same as the 82? So no reason for getting 82 with the 91 LNBF other than alignment?

SW21, but even without the switch I can't find 91.

I carry the dish in the back of my truck, if the arm holding the LNBF's where to get knocked it could get bent throwing everything off I'm guessing? They're only made outa thin metal, I'm guessing that might be why.

From a search I've learned 91 is up and to the right of 82, right?

When stood behind the Dish yes. Maybe 1/4" rotation of the Dish.

Okay, when I turn it that little all I get is a weaker siganl for 82, this is trickier than I thought.

Also, I bought an el cheapo sat signal strength meter from Ebay, it worked the first time I tried it in the back yard (I think I got both birds then too), now it does nothing. Should it work with 82 and 91?

So all my asuptions in my post above are correct Pinza?

If you can hit 82, then your LNBF is working, so therefore, moving it as ytou say, Right and Up, should find 91. Do you ever get to see 110.? I just do not think you are moving far enough.

Run a Check Switch with no cables on the receiver, to get it back to default, then try again.

Is it possible, there is a Line Of Sight issue here.?

This problem of getting a strong signal on 82 and little/no signal on 91 arose a year or so ago when Bell boosted the signal strength of 82 to the point where many people get 100% signal strength. What I would do is remove 82 from the equation completely, i.e. set the skew of your dish for your location, put your "82" LNB (which you know is working) in the 91 slot, connect that LNB directly to your receiver (i.e. no switch) and try to get a signal on 91. Be patient - it is quite common to continue to get a signal from 82 while you are trying to find 91 because the two sats are relatively close and the 82 signal is much stronger than the 91 signal, but if you carefully and methodically search for 91 with the elevation & azimuth settings for your location, you should eventually get a 91 signal. At that point, lock everything down, add the second LNB & switch, run "check switch" and you should be good to go.

Title says it all... but I went i go into point dish I get 87- 89 signal strength on both the 91 and the 82...

Because of this I'm missing some channels, and hd is not there.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're not getting 91 which (I think) is the HD sat? Try a new switch maybe?

I got some new parts for the dish, will try it again this weekeknd and let you know how it goes.

when I run a switch check the 91 shows ok on both. it's the 82 that shows reception error.

Can someone tell me where I have to connect the cable coming from the power box sattelite in 1 or 2?

Depending on the switch, SW21 I use 1 for 91, and 2 for 82.
SW44 1a 1b for 91 lnb, and 2a 2b for 82 lnb.

If you are meaning the Power Inserter, that is feeding the SW44, then it does NOT matter if it is on Input 1 or 2.

A quick update, put a new arm on and a new LNBF, again I found 82 right way so I gave it another 2 degrees up and turned it a little to the right and I managed to get 80% on 91. Hooked up the switch and all was well.
Thanks for your help Pinza, hopefully I'll be able to find 91 up at the lake too! :D

I am having the same type of problems... though i can only catch 91 (but only catch standard def channels).

I think i tried almost everything.. replacing everything except the dish and receiver itself.

Background: I had my dish for a year... one big windy day came and went... and now i only have standard def channels......

when i do a switch check, for my sw21: 91 is good and now i can't see 82. I will try to run each cable sepatetly tonight.

please help

Try connecting 82 directly to the receiver, bypass the switch, run a check switch and see if you can find 82. If you can maybe the switch is bad?

From what I've learned though you should connect 91 right to you receiver, once you find it connect them both to the switch and you should be good if your skew is set right, at least that's what worked for me.

first time poster.........great forum.
Just one simple question, what is the proper skew angle for the montreal area.

I've read most of this thread, and links are provided for this info, but I can't seem to find the answer to my question.

Please............what is the proper skew angle.
Thanks.
