cooper83 2012-05-15, 12:01 PM Google "iPhone 5 release date" and the first three results say June, October, and September, respectively.
tatr09 2012-05-15, 12:03 PM I was told that CTV had a little blurb on the news this morning but I cannot find anything.
TorontoColin 2012-05-15, 12:21 PM Nothing announced today, or any time soon. September is when Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone.
snafu79213 2012-05-15, 02:06 PM don't worry... when there's something of substance to announce you'll be hard pressed to find anything to read other than news about apple.
nic78 2012-05-15, 05:53 PM It 's won't be called the iPhone 5 either. It will most likely be called iPhone 6 to go along with the release of iOS 6 later this year (the 4S was the 5th iPhone). Either that or they will call it the "new iPhone". :)
BGY11 2012-05-15, 07:46 PM They won't go and skip a number like that as it would lead to a lot of confusion. iPhone naming doesn't necessarily match that of the iOS version that it runs (a good example being the iPhone 4S).
I could see them just start calling it iPhone though, as it would match what they do with their computers & the iPad.
they went 3 to 3gs to 4 to 4s...5 is more likely.
ChannelMaster 2012-05-15, 07:56 PM They're sure to call it Iphone 5 4GLTE 16|32|64GB running IOS6
A lot of digits to keep track of!!! :-)
Arthur Dent 2012-05-16, 02:32 PM I could see them just start calling it iPhone though, as it would match what they do with their computers & the iPad.
And for the first few months it will have the unofficial name "The new iPhone". :)
james99 2012-05-16, 02:57 PM If they dropped the numbering system for the Ipad I doubt they will keep it for their phones.
jshel101 2012-05-16, 02:59 PM I also agree. It doesn't make sense to keep going up in version numbers for the iPhone.
nic78 2012-05-16, 03:52 PM they went 3 to 3gs to 4 to 4s...5 is more likely.
There was a iPhone 3G not a iPhone 3, and it was the second iPhone, the 3GS was the third. So the next iPhone will be the 6th version, so following Apple's history of naming devices it will be a iPhone 6, although now it will more than likely be called new iPhone. It will not be called a iPhone 5.
BGY11 2012-05-16, 04:22 PM ...then how do you justify them calling the current phone iPhone 4S?
nic78 2012-05-16, 04:33 PM 4S = 4 Speed
It is the 5th iPhone, but having little to truly different it from the 4 they call it the 4S. It fills a space in Apple's tic tok release cycle.
TorontoColin 2012-05-16, 05:27 PM I can see their carrier partners not being too happy with all iPhones being called "the iPhone". The numbering/naming system makes it easier for them to differentiate and advertise without having to quote device specs.
However, they could also potentially call it the iPhone HD, iPhone 4G, or iPhone LTE.
TKG26 2012-05-16, 08:46 PM iPhone X is how they should keep it goin... iPhone 5 is what people expect so go with it.
I dont think many want to say i have an iPhone 5 HD LTE
cooper83 2012-05-16, 09:12 PM It will not be called a iPhone 5.
I love when "experts" have absolute proof about Apple rumours.
jshel101 2012-05-17, 09:26 AM I love when "experts" have absolute proof about Apple rumours.
lol, it is an ongoing problem. All of these "experts" saying what the new Apple product is going to be. And most of the time they are not right. All they do is drive up the expectations of consumers. So when the actual product is released, people are dissapointed.
BGY11 2012-05-17, 03:13 PM That's exactly what happened when the iPhone 4S was announced.
The rumors are circulating now that the next iPhone will have a 4" display. I think now would be a great time to do this as 4" is still a comfortable size, and it will still be easy to use with one hand.
