: Portals keep restarting themselves

So I got the arris gateway yesterday, and so far I've had a bit of trouble with it. Both Home Portals keep randomly restarting. It seems to occur as if the firmware was crashing. If I turn the home portal on, I can watch a channel all night long without issues. As soon as I start flipping through channels, it'll get to the point where the video (not the menu, just the channel being watched) will freeze. At this point, the home portal just restarts itself.

I talked to a customer chat service tech last night who tried to push an update to the Home Portals. It started to take the update, at which point he lost connection and it started claiming the portal was 'unavailable'

Anyway, I've seen a few other people mention an issue along these lines after the thursday firmware, but since I just got the gateway yesterday, I have not the ability to compare it to prior.

Also the signal levels are fine, rx -1.8 tx 40 with a downstream SNR of 42-43 and an upstream SNR of 34.8-35

Worth mentioning is that the gateway is not losing signal. I recorded game of thrones last night without issue while the home portal was crashing and the lights on the gateway never went out or blinked

Hi SpongeGuard, is this a new installation?
It does take a bit for the gateway and portals to learn each other, typicaly the more you use it, (changing channels, seting up recordings ect) the faster it will learn..
It swaps around the MOCA channels some, if it fails then it tries another MoCa channel..until it gets it figured out.

Yes, it was installed yesterday.
I had a technician in today and he did not see any problems. Everything here is brand new as well. All splitters and the drop are within 3 months old, as well as the area having been upgraded in the last 6 months.

Signal levels are 100% perfect, the gateway is not losing signal. The home portals aren't even rebooting, there's no splash screen.
I wonder if it's my TV.

Check this post and look at your Software revision numbers: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=1336644&postcount=246

My guess is you don't have the new code yet and should see a change in the next day or two. The system is sometimes unstable in the beginning but your case does sound excessive.

Yeah, I was looking around there and could see text stating that a software update was available, but that everything else was up to date. Couldn't find an update software button, so I just left it.
