Since the update, there's definitely been a noticeable improvement on my end, jumping around in a recording, which was an issue for me, works flawlessly now.

I did have a random portal reboot last night so we'll see how things go over the next while.

Other than that, been pretty happy so far! Can't wait for new features to start appearing in future updates now :) *fingers crossed* of course.

I like the slow motion forward feature....missed that!

Question though...I've searched for about 20 minutes and cannot find how to do the "installer trick" to get to the diagnostic screen. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

The slow-mo has been there since the last update. It only runs forward for now but they will add reverse in the future.

I am positive I've tried fwd slow-mo (as the wife is my witness just the other day during a playoff game was trying to review a missed offside call) and it was not there!

Thanks for the link..appreciate it.

My Gateway and Portals continue to work just fine, I think it might be a little faster now... I really have no problems and was one of the first to get it... I don't understand why some have complications and others do not. I wonder if the problem is at the head end for some of the subscribers. I am just waiting for the DNU and I will be a happier camper...

i have had two random Gateway (not Portal) reboots in the last 2 days.

I've also had numerous "Cannot communicate with the Gateway - 5102" errors on each of the Portals.

All 4 of my Portals and the gateway are at 7.0.1b.17

Still some bugs.

I wasn't certain at first but since it has happened more than once now, it seems there are still some issues with the 'trick modes'. When viewing a recording and skipping the commercials, if I go too far and then skip back (the measly 7 seconds at a time) repeatedly, it will sometimes skip back, then forward, then back again. This is all with just pressing the 'skip back' button.

It doesn't happen every time but it still happens. I don't know if this is a new problem or if it is a leftover from previous issues but it does appear there is still some work to do on the transport functions.

Generally though, for me anyway, the transport functions are improved over the previous code and things are certainly moving in the right direction. Keep the updates/upgrades coming Shaw/ARRIS. We are desperate to explore all this system has to offer.

Note: I asked our moderator to add a link to the Installer Menu instructions and I see he has done so in the 'Gateway:Read this first' thread. It is now safe to access this menu so the warnings that have been previously emphasized are no longer a concern. I would actually encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with this menu and how to get to it as it has many useful features to it now.

If problems persist please let me know via pm, there may be a signal issue that's causing your Gateway grief.

Any clues on why the TLC HD icon would have been removed?

It happens. Shaw knows about it and are trying to correct it.

ever since the update I've had several portal reboots. It just spontaneously reboots without warning, I'm glad its not the gateway as no recordings or anything is lost, but prior to this I was having no problems with the system so this seems like a bit of a bummer. I'm happy with the overall better responsiveness of the skip and back functions now, but the rebooting every few days while you're watching something kinda sucks.

I have had the Gateway system since October and have had communication errors, freezing when skipping, ff, or rw, sluggish VOD and menus. These were all constant problems except for within a few hours of a power cycle.

Since the updates I have had no occurrences of any of the problems above. I am currently a happy camper but a little uneasy as I read that the update hasn't been as successful of a fix for all.

Hopefully the week of problem free Gateway operation continues. It took more than 6 months but it's very nice to finally have the system that I thought I was buying.

Cheers!

I had a strange occurrance yesterday, I paused a program I was watching while I went to the bank. The ride took a little longer than planned (motorcycles tend to do that :D)and when I came back the program was playing once again (I believe pause works for :30 minutes). Anyway, I hit the rewind and the bar show all yellow but the time did not move back (as I am used to seeing), it stayed stuck at the current time, but the screen showed I was rewinding through the current program . Oh, and the back 15 and back 30 seconds didn't work either.

I have noticed that since the update, if you pause a show for a significant time (whether the show is live or recorded), when you press play to resume watching, the show will start from the beginning.

I had read in a previous post that the Shaw screen saver would be set to a 12 hour delay, but it is still coming on much sooner than that.
Does anyone know if there is any configuration that I need to change to get this reset?
Also, like a few others, we have experienced several communication errors and a reboot or two.

As far as I can tell there has been no change to this, I still get the no activity prompt after two hours, very annoying (Shaw are you listening?)

@Reboot - yes i'm definitely listening, if you guys want to report any bugs/problems with your Gateways please send them to shawfeedback[at]sjrb.ca and put - ATT:Sean - Gateway Example - in the subject line.

I'm monitoring this thread and collecting examples to take to our Gateway teams.

Cheers.

@ShawSean, thanks, that was a little tongue in cheek, I know you guys are here, we have been complaining about the inactivity timeout since day one but with no apparent action ;). I will do as you request .

Thanks Sean, I will send an email as well. My hubby likes to wake up to the TV and this 'functionality' has prevented it.
