I have just been informed that I am not going to lose anything with the modification to the 'guide position' change. Here's the explanation I was given:

When you are in the grid guide, you scroll to another channel and hit zoom.
When you hit zoom again, you're back at where you left off.
If you hit menu in that view, it goes back to current channel.
Also, now if you hit guide, it will always reference the channel you are on which makes sense.

People before where using zoom then hitting guide and wanting it to be at the current channel but it was at the last place they had left it. You just need to adapt to use zoom/zoom rather than zoom/guide when wanting to be at the last place.

So, I guess there hasn't been a 'mistake', as I have called it, but rather a true 'enhancement'. If this is indeed how it works then I will be extremely happy. All I need now is the patience to get me through the wait until my boxes, which were some of the first to be installed in Calgary by the way, to be updated. I wonder what ever happened to my 'early code delivery' courtesy that I got that one time? I digress.

Has the issue of missing blocks of channels with the grid guide been addressed?

The 'fix' for that is to not block any channels in the channel list.:rolleyes: I could be wrong but I believe that will be addressed in the 'next' code update along with MANY other issues. This code was a 'special' release to address the most commonly complained about issues and, as such, is somewhat limited in what it contains.

As I have said in the previous code thread, updates are supposed to be coming more 'regularly' and should be about 6 weeks apart for at least the next 2 or possibly 3 updates.

As far as I can tell the missing guide is corrected. Only my portals have been updated at this point but I went in and eliminated all the extra channels that I had to show in order to get the ones I really wanted. Everything appears as it should.

On the negative side my guide is not a fast as it was before. There is a noticeable 2 or 3 second lag now that was not there before.

I have noticed no difference for the trick keys but then I wasn't having problems with them previously.

Maybe the Gateway update will alter things but for now, with the exception of the slower guide, things seem to have improved. But as I said, I was one of those that was experiencing few problems.

If you have not been upgraded to the April 2012 firmware, please continue to use the previous Gateway thread.

was just pushed the b.17 software to one of my portals in Edmonton (not to the gateway yet)


looking good so far, i can't upset the portal by skipping/replaying quickly (5-10 times in succession), where it used to lose connection and freeze the gateway system for 5 seconds

got the update, now if i can only get the DNU in my area to be completed sometime this year maybe i can stop hating on shaw so much.

I got the portal updates overnight but it seems like I can't see the gateway in the dashboard or at least I didn't have enough time to wait before leaving for work. When I try to use the arrow to switch to the gateway screen it just sits there searching for the gateway. I'll try again after work and see if it shows up.

Both my Portals and my Gateway were updated here in Winnipeg at 6.06AM this morning.
Did some quick checks before leaving for work . All appeared fine.

@ 6:49 my portal rebooted while watching CTV Morning Live, no message or warning the screen just went blank and the portal rebooted. I opened the CP and a green status screen appeared displaying the new update status with the time and date, funny it said no reboot required ???.

Wish we knew what actual changes were made so we could make constructive criticisms of the update.

24 hours later and I still only have 1 updated portal. The other 2 and the gateway are still not updated.

I don't imagine there is any way to force them to update? I don't know how the rollout works, but if it has skipped me by why would I expect it to happen again?

I checked my gateway and 6 portals this morning before I go to work and I'm happy to see that they are all updated to the new firmware (7.0.1b.17) including the media gateway. I still have to check it later to see what's improved and what's still not fixed.

I checked mine last night, no update. But since others are starting to see the push in Calgary, I would suspect it will not be long now.

All portals and gateway updated and working nicely... DNU was supposed to begin this month in Surrey/Cloverdale - that would be great!

It did indeed take a bit of time to go through the "...searching..." scan on mine the second time I used it. The first time I sat on the first screen long enough (about 2 minutes as I got distracted by something else.) that it loaded in the background. The second, I switched almost immediately upon entering the installer tool.

Still nothing here. Waiting patiently.
