I had an icon in the bottom left of the screen when viewing the guide. I use the guide under the menu settings not the grid guide.

Whats up with the equipment failing after one of the updates my gateway failed and SHAW had to come out and replace it. Yesterday my portal stopped had stopped communicating to the gateway ( no controls at all channel selecting receiving signal) so no they have to come out and replace the portal. I wonder if this is going to be a reacurring theme for SHAW dont they know people need to work and make money so the can pay for there system that doesnt seem to work:confused:

I really wish they would replace the remotes with the gateway system.

These remotes are horrible. Take note that the remotes with the Bell Sat system are really good.

Why don't they have UHF on them?

Really sucks IMO.

There is supposed to be a new remote coming, any time now, from UEM. It was announced late last year/early this year and should have been out by now but I guess there are still some issues as it hasn't materialized in public yet. I doubt it will have UHF though as that would require UHF in the box or an adapter of some kind.

We might get lucky and have UHF remotes with the next gen boxes but I wouldn't hold out too much hope on that one either.

..Why don't they have UHF on them?
...

Do you mean wireless (2.4MHz or 5MHz)?

I may be wrong. I have not seen any consumer electronics which generates signal using UHF frequency.

My portal froze and rebooted for the first time while watching a recording. Hopefully this doesn't keep happening. No issues before the update.

My portal froze and re-booted too this monring while watching a recorded
show. It's the only real issue I have seen so far.

I have not seen Connection to Gateway... message.

The communication problem between the gateway and portal is still there. Instead of clearing the screen and display the error message, the new firmware keeps the last available image on screen.

With regard to 'wireless', the old(more than 10 years ago now, probably closer to 20 now that I think about it. *man, am I getting old*) Dish Network/ExpressVu receivers used to have wireless remotes that were described as 'UHF' in the literature. Whether they were actually in that band or not, they were a high frequency RF system that worked well anywhere in the house.

Turned on the TV, no communication with Gateway message, I did a warm boot of the portal from the installers menu and access was restored. Didn't have to leave my warm spot on the couch :D.

Aren't couch reboots great? This is one really handy improvement. If they can give us this, just think of the possibilities in the future!

Yes, it sure simplifies troubleshooting and as I've said I hate "pulling the plug" to restore service as it can cause havoc with spinning hard drives

Just had my main Portal 'lose communication' while watching 'live' TV. It stayed that way until I changed the channel, about 5 minutes later. I figured I'd give it a few minutes to see what might happen but the screen eventually just went black and that was when I changed the channel as 'Live TV' or 'Zoom' didn't bring it back.

Aren't couch reboots great?

Why yes, yes they are!

I absolutely hated yanking the power cord on my Pace box. It was just awkward to get to. I'd always seem to wiggle the eSATA cable just enough no matter how careful, locking the system up and needing yet another cord yank.

I rebooted both Gateway and Portal twice today from within, and smiled while doing so.

Now bring on many other improvements please.

P.S.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I have not had the communication issues since the update like others seem to be having. (Wanna bet as soon as I go watch something, it will happen in short order now that I have mentioned it? /facetiousness.)

I am getting the "5102 There was an error during playback" crash 5 or 6 times a day since the update. It has happened 3 times in the past hour alone.

I had very few (maybe once every couple days) before the update.

Very unhappy.

I have to agree, my system has become unstable since the latest update, it had been rock solid for months prior

Mine too! Since the updates I've had several random reboots on the portal to the main TV, all during live TV, and constant audio dropouts. Got po'd enough tonite to swap the bad portal with the one from the MBR, which is seldom used. We will see what happens now. Not impressed. Cheers.
