For what its worth, the CBC fine for me in OS X using both Firefox 11 and Safari 5.1.15. Its likely a local issue for you.

Weird. Tried it again and it's working alright.

I'll keep my fingers crossed tomorrow.

And after all that hating on the CBC ... CHEX Durham/Oshawa (digital channel 129) will indeed be showing tonight's Wash/Boston game (as long as the IPG is correct).

Yes, because people in Toronto can see it, that means everyone else can, right?

I have to watch the stream. It's not even webcam quality.

That's funny. It looks fine on my PC.

I have the Ott-NYR stream running on one computer and it has been the standard CBC blur-o-vision I have come to know and hate. The Wash-Bos feed on the other computer was waaay better (still not remotely close to how good a NHL gamecenter feed looks), or was until the dreaded 'Restart' message came up on the stream in the 2nd intermission. Ever since then it is has been bllur-o-vision on that feed too. So I guess I can agree with both of your comments on the quality of the stream.

How large is your monitor and what resolution are you using? That can have an effect on the PQ.

Regardless of PQ I still think its great that CBC streams al their broadcasts at no cost. There were Sat. when I could only watch on a PC. Having this option has been much appreciated.

I don't disagree, but to gonkster's point, I already have an NHLGCL feed. Why do I need to watch on CBC's servers that appear to be overloaded compared to the NHLGCL server that can consistently provide me with a good bit-rate.

Ya I am well aware of screen size/resolution and their effects. I appreciate that they offer streams too but wish they were a bit better quality but alas there is no money in their budget anymore for that kind of stuff. I watch MLB TV and NHL Gamecenter on these computers and you would think you were watching HD with their feeds. So I guess thats part of the problem is that I am spoiled because I know what it could look like. Anyhow now that the Sens game is over it doesn't matter cause now the HD feed for the caps-bruins is on the TV.

CBC streams, even on TV, are not always great. It was obvious during Preds/Wings game between CBC and RDS2 (who had the NBC Sports feed). It was like night and day... Much more colors and sharpness on the NBC feed.

But during the Canucks/Kings game, twe two feeds were pretty similar in quality. We'll see tonight...

As alebowgm said, the issues with CBCs streaming PQ are likely related to server load. RDS likely has fewer viewers and thus has a lower load on its server. Similarly it is quite possible that due to the start time of the games, the server load on the Vancouver game was lower than it was during the Preds/Wings game. The normal 10:00pm EST start (10:15pm puck drop) is late enough, but push it out an extra half hour (like it was on Wed) and many won't even try to watch the first period. I suspect more will watch tonight's game, given the earlier start and that it is a Friday night.

I kind of like the way they have 2:30 between game starts on the same network. Ya the first game will be longer than that, but it will most likely end before puck drop of the second game. If it does go to overtime, they can start showing the second game right away and then flip back and forth as the intermissions will be staggered.

I was talking of the TV broadcast, not the Web stream. CBC PQ was better last night IMO.

I am not sure if game 1 of the wings/press was in hd on CBC. I didn't notice the hd graphic at the start of the periods. Lately the CBC has been renting trucks for games played in the US so equipment quality could be an issue.

I see game 3 of Caps-Bruins listed in HD in the Rogers guide on channel 495. Hope it's true.

I see that too. It's also on the NBC Sports Network, in HD, which I'll be Slinging over.

The NBC production has been great on NBC Sports Network and CNBC, as the full NBC graphics and theme package is used.

I wonder if 495 will be the NBC feed or the CBC feed in HD, since CHEX doesn't air in HD outside of Peterborough and Oshawa.
