Not sure if this will help anyone but it saved me a few bucks so I thought I would pass it along.
I rent a 4100 and a 9241 pvr on the rental choice program. When I signed up for it a year or so ago the cost was $5 per month for the 4100 and $20 a month for the pvr.
When I was looking around Bell's website I clicked on the order equipment option and noticed that you could rent a 4100 for $2.95 a month and a pvr for $13.86 a month.
I called them up to see why they are charging me the $5 and $20 and not the reduced price. They ended up giving me the reduced price so I saved $8.19 a month on my bill.
Not a lot of money but every bit helps.

When the RCP was first being launched there was talk of migrating existing customers onto this new plan, then I heard no more about it.
Glad they did it for you but do you know if you now start the 3 year contract again, or is time spent on the old Rental Scheme still counted towards the RCP stipulations.?

To cle 12000,
If you have 2 other services with Bell (Internet + phone line)you might be able to get the PVR free for 3 years and then own it after that.

Pinza, as far as I know standard practice is to start on a new 36 month term for the receivers, with no time being credited for months on the old rental plan. At least thats how it was explained in the documents we received from Bell when they introduced the RCP. Keep in mind though, you're not locked into a contract for 36 months, it's just 36 months before the receiver is yours. You can get out of it at any time.

Yes that is my understanding too, a new 3 year term starts again.

That's not to say that there aren't severe cases that they will credit some people somehow, but I doubt that it happens very often, if at all.

I specifically asked the rep if I have to start over on a 3 yr contract. She told me no, they will not start me over and everything will continue the way it is. I kept the case number where she told me if they do infact switch me to another 3 yr contract which I'm not sure if that would help anything anyways.
Also, to start over a contract or start a new contract would I no have to sign something? Can they just start people on 3 yr contracts?

You might want to call back and speak to a different CSR, because everything I've seen and been told says that when switching to RCP no credit will be given for any previous months rented. Everything starts fresh at 36 months, which isn't exactly the end of the world, because just look at it this way. If they hadn't switched you to RCP and just kept everything the way it was you wouldn't be saving the $8.19/month and the receivers would never be yours. At least now you're saving some money and you know that after 36 months they will eventually be yours.

I am thinking of dropping Bell internet for another provider I was wondering if this will effect my rental receiver plan? I currently have 3 services an am not paying for my 9241 which will become mine after 3 years. If I drop to only having 2 services will they start charging me the $13.86 every month until 3 years is up?

Nope, you should be safe. But you might want to call Bell just to make sure.
