Back when the pizza dish business started, the sales pitch was "Ditch the cable - more choice, more channels for less"
Well leave it to Brad Shaw etal to turn this on it's head.
Shaw Direct HD subs "Pay More for Less" vs Shaw Cable HD subs
Less HD channel choice, pay higher rates for the available
As this link shows, for $25.95/month Shaw Cable subs even get the TSN + Sportnet channels in HD
www.shaw.ca/Television/
So SD subs are stuck not only with Canada's most inferior hardware; they are also fortunate enough to pay more.

I second your post. Shaw Direct has got to be the worst provider in Canada. Out of date hardware, out of touch pricing, horrible HD line-up (to the point, it's not even funny anymore).
I enjoy looking at their twitter feed and everyday they say more channels coming in late 2012 when G1 launches. What about now? I don't want to wait another 10+ months to get more HD channels. On the surface, I may sound impatient but I've been waiting for years for Shaw Direct to have a decent HD lineup. All other providers are finding a way to move forward and add channels. Shaw Direct should be doing the same. They have had MPEG-4 capible receivers for almost 18 months. What have we gotten that's MPEG-4...more SD channels. Well thats just awsome SD!

Not only do SD HD subs pay more for less each month:
Loyal SD subs get to pay TWICE what Shaw Cable subs pay for HDPVR
(Unless you are new SD sub who has paid $0 to Shaw, then you can get it for less than $100)
Loyal SD subs get to pay 33% more for HD receiver
This has become a joke.
The only reason that Shaw Cable lowered the pricing + upped the HD was to slow the bleeding to Telus. It's time for SD subs to exit. Sub count is the only number that the Shaw family looks at other than the $30+ million they take out of the company each year for themselves.

I already voted with my wallet and left SD. Their 630 is such a piece of junk I can't believe people put up with it.
