: What toys did Santa bring you this year?
The only toy of note on my end was a Blueant S4 Hands-free Voice Controlled Car Speakerphone. I was tempted to pick up an android tablet but resisted. :o
Those Boxing Week Flyers are calling out to me. :D

scrooloose 2011-12-28, 12:53 PM It's a Christmas present to myself, but I'm getting a 16Gb Playbook tonight. A friend of mine works at RIM and I was able to get it for $166 (all in).

BGY11 2011-12-28, 01:02 PM Samsung BD-D5100 Bluray player. Now I can finally watch Netflix on my TV. :)
eljay 2011-12-28, 01:07 PM santa eljay just bought me a Polk AM1055-A (a.k.a. PSW10) subwoofer. He knew that I've been waiting for a deal on an inexpensive sub to pair with my ChaseHT WAF-3s in a modest two-channel set-up, and when he saw today's F.S. flyer, he sprang into action! :)
JohnnyCanuck 2011-12-28, 01:14 PM For the apple hater in me, my wife got me an iPod Touch ... actually, it integrates into my car audio much better than anything else, so it was a welcome gift.
pharsyde 2011-12-28, 02:12 PM Yayyy .. a thread dedicated toward the cause ! thanks Jake !

magnet 2011-12-28, 05:40 PM A $200 Kindle Fire under my tree...
Very impressed by the battery life and once I found instructions of Facebook on how to get Apps for it from north of the 49th - it is even better.
Long ago we decided not to get caught up in the Christmas hype. We have no kids and purchase what we need during the year. If there's something we want/need around the end of the year, we wait for the boxing day sales. There is a "no parking" sign on our roof to preclude reindeer damage. ;)
We did some online shopping and in-person shopping of the boxing day sales and got a wine aerator, an immersion blender (great for soups which we make often) and some chocolate. All items were 1/2 price or less. We are happy and enjoy the Solstice.
cooper83 2011-12-28, 06:17 PM 57, did you get the Vinturi aerator? If so, let me know what you think of it. I got one for my gf and we look forward to a taste test.
Nothing too techy on my list this year, surprisingly. Ordered a Jabra Bluetooth car visor speaker on "Boxing Day" (I love how December 24th is now Boxing Day according to the Internets).
Tezster 2011-12-28, 06:27 PM 90% of the time, I'm my own Santa. This year, I bought myself a new-to-me Denon AVR-790 on Boxing Day :)
coooper83, I got the Trudeau Aroma one that attaches to the bottle and acts like a spout. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but I have tried others (various makes/models - mostly requiring a second hand to hold) at friends and they seem to work for younger red wines. The Vinturi requires two hands (or a tower) and was expensive, so I gave it a pass. The base will not be used and will be stored with the box elsewhere, while the aerator will be kept with my wine opener until both are needed.

redzone 2011-12-28, 07:37 PM Vinturi Aerator
We got one for our friends and it seems to work wonders on a just opened bottle. If you have time to use a normal airator container then there not that usefull. but are great for that second bottle when you dont want to wait.
and for christmas i got myself an SSD and a new video card to make my HTPC a real HTPC!!
although i still have to fix stuiped windows 7 transfer rates. (cant get over 2 mb/s transfers!!)
ChannelMaster 2011-12-28, 11:53 PM Well this year I treated myself to a Bose Sound Dock 10 on Boxing day as well as a pair of Wouxun KV-UVD1P 5-watt walkie talkies! I now have tangible proof that China can manufacture some good stuff.
Francois Caron 2011-12-29, 01:25 AM Amazon Kindle 4, but it's mainly for work i.e. a video review of the product.
Also a 16 GB MicroSD card for my Nokia N900 phone, just so I can load even more audio/video crap that I'll probably never listen/watch. ;)
(I now have 48 GB of unformatted storage on that phone! Yikes!)
mr weather 2011-12-29, 07:26 AM After almost two months our kitchen reno was finally completed so that was our Christmas present to ourselves this year. :)
BGY11 2011-12-29, 08:55 AM My basement renovation was completed earlier this month as well - I guess that was my other main Christmas gift.
