I'm quite surprised there isn't a thread on this yet.
Somehow, around maybe 7 or 8am local time, Max has just stopped working province-wide. All SaskTel has given are generic "we know what's going on and we're trying to fix it, move along" communications.
How could this system have such a major break point in it?

I hear that the service is back on for at least some customers. Unconfirmed though.
Regardless, this is a pretty major failure.

About 90,000 SaskTel Max TV customers are having problems - no other SaskTel services are affected.
In a news release sent out mid-morning Tuesday, SaskTel said the outage is provincewide, adding that, “at this time, Max customers can only watch the channel they were tuned into yesterday, and cannot watch any recorded programs. If a reboot is done, customers will not be able to view any channels.” (http://www.leaderpost.com/SaskTel+service/5887495/story.html#ixzz1h6HVQNVq)
It added SaskTel is “working to restore service as quickly as possible.”

On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at approximately 12:45 pm, we began to restore Max services. Customers may notice intermittent service with Max, including Video on Demand and Digital TV Recorder, as we continue to work diligently to restore full service for all Max customers.
We anticipate Max to be fully be restored by early evening. SaskTel thanks all customers for their patience.
Apparently the outage was province wide
