The save one option is very handy for recording the news everyday.

re: save option
...but you can have save 1 & save till I delete on the option menu at the same time, what happens then.
I'm going to set it to tape a show mon-fri so the save option comes up. I'm going to pick save 1 and then keep the save till I delete on at the same time to see what happens.
Anyone else test this?

It will continue to save the last recorded episode and the previous episode will be deleted. This was a feature that I had always wished the BEV PVR's had. It saves you having to go and peridically delete older recordings.
cheers

"I tried that save one option as discussed on the previous page. Except that the next day, (today) the show didn't tape at all. I have it set for mon-friday, save one, plus save till I delete.
It recorded monday, but not tuesday.
Anyone knows how this whole save option works?"
Roger Corman 2004-09-30, 11:19 AM I had Lost set up for weekly taping, but it did not tape for me last night. (it is a good thing that they are rerunning the pilot this weekend or I'd be very mad) When I went and checked my recording settings, it was set for Weekly, Save 1 and Save until I delete. I still had last weeks episode on my HDD, so it is possible that the DCT did not record because of my settings.

Sorry for the delay in responding Kramdens. I just checked my setting and have my recordings set to until "space is needed" not "until I delete". I would have thought it would still work the same way? Anyways this allows me to record the news everday and to always keep the most recent episode. I will try and change it to "until I delete" and see what happens.

kramdens 2004-10-01, 01:14 AM Thanks pjpete, I look forward to you testing this. thanks.
pjpete 2004-10-01, 09:32 AM I just checked the tonight show which I changed to "until I delete" and "save one" and last nights episode recorded and the previous night was deleted as I planned. I do remember when I first set things up about a month ago when I first purchased the 6208 the first couple of times I was having problems with it recording the most current episode and keeping an older recording. However, it has worked flawlessly since then. Now only if it didn't take minutes to change High Definition channels....
Cheers

kramdens 2004-10-01, 09:38 AM Thanks, I'm going to try again. Luckily I don't have the problem with HD. Mine changes instantly between channels including HD channels. Different cities, different problems maybe?

I would be interested in knowing where you are located and which cable service you have.
kramdens 2004-10-02, 01:55 AM pjpete- well, I tried again. It recorded the first show, yesterday, but not todays. I'm not sure how to fix this. I'm sure Shaw won't be any help.
Alan Bealby- I'm in Winnipeg, and I have Shaw.

Strange you don't have the slow changes to HD channels. Mine take a minimum of 3 to 4 seconds and can take quite a bit longer since the change early this month.
kramdens 2004-10-02, 02:17 PM I just checked. It takes about 2 seconds max, which I still find annoying.
My pvr won't record any shows that are set for more than one day. It's getting annoying. Basically if I want to record a show everyday. Each day, I have to set it to record, and then repeat the process the following week!!
This thing might be going back for the second time!
Icemann 2004-10-02, 03:32 PM I'm going to have to hook up my DCT 2000 to my plasma because I swear the analog channels looked better on my TV with that box than they do with the 6208. If that is the case, and if I can't expect the DVI to make a significant difference on those channels, I think I will grab an extra DCT 2500 box from the store.pcouture, a DCT 2500 will look better on SD channels on your plasma compared to the 6208. Its hard to believe how bad the SD channels look coming out of the 6208.
When there are SD programs on the HD channels it looks great but otherwise it looks awful.
Hairball 2004-10-02, 05:30 PM I use my tv's tuner for SD because the 6208's SD is so bad. My 2000 definately looked a lot better.
Mach3 2004-10-02, 06:18 PM Hey Guys, I was just wondering if anyone in the vancouver area had their 6208 box reset on them around 2:30 today. I was watching a show that I recorded the night before & it just shut itself off then about 15 seconds later it came back on. I tried to plug the box directly in to the wall like shaw recommonds, but same thing still happens. This is getting annoying cause this is the 4 time it's reset in two weeks, plus other recent problems with the recording timer setup. I liked the box at the start even with all the problems but no it's starting to piss me off. I really hope they get a fix from motorola to fix some of problems.

I'm in Victoria and channel changes take on average about two to three minutes on HD channels. I have had instances when watching a recorded HD program where it can take about seven minutes to start playing and then I have to rewind it back to the start. When are they going to fix this??!!!

PokerChip 2004-10-03, 12:45 AM I wish my box would reset itself if it meant Shaw is updating the firmware on it so this UNBELIEVABLY ANNOYING LAG ON HD becomes a thing of the past.
Unfortunately, it did not here in Edmonton and pjpete, last time I talekd to a supervisor at Shaw about 10 days ago, he told me 2 months!!!! I can't stand it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Guys, I was just wondering if anyone in the vancouver area had their 6208 box reset on them around 2:30 today.
I did. Really annoying because I was showing my dad for the first time how cool HDTV is, and my box resets in the middle of my demo.
Alan Bealby 2004-10-03, 04:46 PM My 6208 reset itself about 8 PM last Friday. It was just at the end of recording an hour program. When it powered back up, there were two corrupt programs in the recorded list. One of about the expected hour duration and one of a few minutes. The hour one would only play back a few minutes before giving the end of recording message. I ended up erasing the two files.
The next day I looked for a movie I had scheduled for recording at 5 AM. Instead it listed a 30 minute program with a different name. This program wouldn't erase and said to call Shaw and give them the error message. I did and the CSR said he would download a file to my 6208 and to then wait 10 to 15 minutes before trying to use it. After I powered back up, I could erase the corrupted file.
The reset on Friday is the first I have had while I had the power on. I am not sure what caused the problem on the 5 Am recording, the previous night's reset or the fact that the schedule changed for the program.
BigRed2 2004-10-04, 08:34 PM I've had my 6208 for about 3 weeks. HD reception on my Samsung is incredible - both recorded and "live". However, any SD broadcasts or recordings are subject to one or two vertical red / purple bars that distort the color slightly in an area about 2-3 inches wide. The bar can be in the middle or down both sides. I don't believe it is the TV because if I change the input to cable from the component input, there is no issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it the 6208?
Icemann 2004-10-05, 10:35 AM My second 6208 has now reset itself for the third time last night at 7:47pm PDT. Anybody else experience this?
faston 2004-10-05, 12:49 PM Mine reset at about 11:30 pm
