Windsor,Chatham,Sarnia rock fans listening to Detroit radio gain a new rock format to the dial..............
Fri nov4 at 10am WDTW FM 106.7 detroit flips from CHR The BEAT to the Next Gen of Classic Rock as the "D" 106.7.
Rumour has it that legendary rock jock Arthur Penhallow will join the "D" for aft.drive the same shift he was at for 37 yrs at heritage rocker 101WRIF the Riff before leaving WRIF over contract problems over a year ago.
The new "D" is playing 10,000 songs in a row ,at the end of the 10,000 will give a lucky listener $10,000 to kick off the new format at 106.7.

Interesting piece of news. Many people here listened to 'The Riff' in the 1970s when it was on cable. 106.7 was known as W4 (call letters WWWW) and also played rock. Detroit itself had at least 3 rock stations and there were more in the area, including Windsor. I listened to Arthur Penhallow on many occasions. They all converted to other formats years ago. It's nice to see one return to the same format.
BTW, the internet station is blocked to non-US listeners.

Sad that Geo Blocking has now become so prevalent. I now have issues trying to listen to syndicated shows on US online stations that were freely available for so many years...whatever happened to the WORLD WIDE WEB?
If american stations want to restrict access, then they should get off the WWW and set up an internal VPN within their own country that nobody else has to look at it.

Please don't turn this into another geoblocking thread. It's about WDTW FM 106.7 Detroit.

That 3rd rock station from the 70's your talking about scarybob is 99WABX, then Detroit went to 4 album rockers in 1980 when 98.7 WLLZ Detroit's Wheels came on the dial. That then forced WWWW W4 to flip to country.
Didnt know people in London on cable got Riff & W4 back then. Some cool info.
And Clear Channel in the last year or so blocks out of country IP's from listening.I used to listen to WMMS Cleveland and got blocked awhile back.
101 the Riff is still on the net for a listen at www.wrif.com
