I have this stand from costo - P3N1C - Portland 3-IN-1 Console. Supports up to 60" Flat panel TV's.
It'll hold 60" 165 lbs on the swing floater (arm mount) and 60" 165lbs on the base.

I currently have my 50" plasma mounted on it and want to replace it with my new TV Panasonic 65" TCP65ST30

Any chance this will fit my 65" Plasma? I was hoping not buy a new stand.

The weight of the 65" is 97.1lbs and the stand says it supports upto 165lbs... My old 50" TV weighted about 84lbs and it was very stable. I'd like to mount on the swing arm like my last one.

Anyone have any comments or opinions? I can't wait until I get the TV on Wednesday :)

Since the stand is able to hold the weight, I would assume you'd be OK. The 60" "limit" may have more to do with the mount - how far it can spread out - than the stand itself. I would think that if the mount fits your 65", then you'd be fine. If it doesn't perhaps you could simply get another mount that's large enough, but still use the stand. If you don't need/use the swiveling bracket, perhaps you can remove it since that would lessen the forces on the stand?

If you don't need the top shelf for other equipment, you could place the TV on it using the TV's stand - load there is also 165 lb.

That's what I was thinking. It's not the weight so much as the dimensions.

If you do mount, then you may consider tying the upright portion of the stand to the wall with a safety line to guard against tipping.

I have the same stand and have a 60" LG plasma mounted the same way and the TV is 104lbs. It's very stable attached to the pole.

The only issue you would have is aesthetics. Your TV will be slightly wider than the stand itself.. That's about it !!!

One other thought - make sure that the larger TV has enough room above the top shelf to make the top shelf useful for what you want to put there - doesn't interfere with the bottom of the screen or IR "eye".

I don't think it'll fit the pole mount, as it might be too spread out, as my 50" plasma is already pretty close to the edges. Again, another great point about the aesthetics....
