: CLOSED — Shaw Gateway: Code update to iS2 & iS2+ (See final post)
Jetranger 2012-04-21, 07:52 PM Which hopefully will start improving next week. This has been a long time coming so it better be good. That's all I've got left to say about it at this point other than it really hasn't been a surprise that it hasn't happened when it was suggested it would. I'm still hopeful there will be those 'regular' updates to follow, at about 6 week intervals but, as always, I'm not holding my breath.
TechGuy8 2012-04-21, 08:53 PM At this point, I will be happy if next week update will fix the frequent reboot, faster response on those basic PVR functions - change channel, forward/rewind etc.
aborro 2012-04-22, 02:30 AM Since the minor update on Thursday morning, I am now receiving a "This channel is not currently being broadcast, or there is a problem with receiving a signal..." on random channels. I have contacted Shaw twice, Gateway and Portals have been reset multiple times without any resolution. I have verified that all cable connections to the Gateway are secure. They are sending out a Technician on May 8. This is my first major issue with the Gateway since purchasing it.
RobBob 2012-04-22, 02:23 PM Lately, the Gateway has been "forgetting" to record programs in a series even though the show is not a repeat. Other times I seem to get only the last half hour of a scheduled recording.
macuis 2012-04-22, 02:34 PM Noticed the guide was off by 2 hours this morning. Showed the Penguins vs Flyer's game was to start at 1 pm instead of 11 am...
Cio-Pao 2012-04-22, 03:27 PM On thursday morning (I think after the minor update) all my 6 portals were showing "no gateway found" but it all came back after power cycling the whole system. I have no problem power cycling the system once a while but I had to do it again on Friday and today...this is the first time I experience this issue for few days. My gateway has been stable since July when it was first installed. It looks like the said minor update last thursday made my system unstable. I'm really hoping to get the new update (7.0.1b.17) this coming thursday.
Jetranger 2012-04-22, 08:04 PM The system clearly has been made more unstable by whatever the 'updates' have been. I'm trying to watch 'live' tv and it keeps freezing, requiring me to press 'pause' then play again to get the program to resume. This has happened 3 times in the last hour and a half. Very odd.
Gord Lacey 2012-04-22, 08:57 PM Will this be the week? Cross your fingers... (and wait for Jetranger's inside info post :D )
Reboot 2012-04-22, 10:36 PM I've been getting pixilation that I haven't seen in months as well as screen freezing noted by Jetranger!
JasonB 2012-04-22, 10:55 PM Anyone seeing a problem where MC on demand is not showing up on the portals (even though it works on the 3400)?
Jetranger 2012-04-22, 11:06 PM I just had another 'glitch' happen and I have now noticed they are all happening at the top of the hour. It's like there is something glitching the system each time the hour changes. This time it was a '5102' error message and kicked me out of a recording I was watching and into the 'PVR List' with the live preview window. Man I hope this stops with the next code later this week. I hope even more that the update happens!
PaulB 2012-04-23, 01:52 AM In the last couple of days, some recordings (Private Practice, Harry's Law) have been intermittently displaying a time stamp during playback. It appears in the lower third of the screen and tracks the current position in the timeline you see when you push the pause, fast forward, etc. buttons.
Has anyone else encountered this?
Cudtz 2012-04-23, 05:17 AM Hello Again,
I went into the service menu a few moment ago just to see if there were any updates that I didn't see. No updates yet, portals and gateway still show Dec 13, 2011 as the last update but something seemed off. Location shows where I'm located Calgary, but the channel map says Drumheller. Still 104 but I could have sworn it said Calgary All Digital before.
I exited without saving. Figured that was the safest thing to do as nothing was changed anyway. More puzzled than concerned.
Still hoping that we see the beginning of the latest roll-out of updates this week. Again, thanks Jetranger for the updates.
sailorickm 2012-04-23, 10:44 AM Mine says Calgary All Digital - 101.
Reboot 2012-04-23, 11:52 AM Woke up this morning and once AGAIN 30% of my recorded programs have vanished, there should be a simple refresh option provided to rebuild the list, having to reboot the Gateway is not the way to handle this ongoing issue
GWNorth 2012-04-23, 12:03 PM @PaulB - Yes, we have seen that a few times now too. A bit annoying.
Cudtz 2012-04-23, 06:38 PM Now, it's back to normal. :o
Jetranger 2012-04-23, 10:35 PM OK, here we go again. The word is; we should start seeing the 'update' starting sometime tomorrow and through the rest of the week. Also, the naming convention has been changed from 'iS' to just the software release number, in this case it should be 7.0.1b.17 . I'd start a new thread for it now but I don't want to 'jump the gun' in case there is another delay for some reason or another.
There will probably be additional numbers after the above but the actual code releases will be referred to by this first number/letter combination.
Gord Lacey 2012-04-23, 11:21 PM Woohoo, thanks for the update Jetranger!
Reboot 2012-04-23, 11:39 PM I'll hold off on rebooting the Gateway to rebuld my missing recordings, I hate booting it any more than I have to...thanks Jetranger ;)
