Hey guys.

I lost all of my recorded shows after the update to iS2. Did anyone else notice this?

I have also noticed that in the guide I am missing the channel network logos. Is it just me or is this normal?

Otherwise, things seem to be working well.

Channel grid guide still doesn't work properly. After reselecting ALL channels, the grid worked by displaying all channels. Re-selected my preferred channels, and the lowest channel number (2) doesn't show.

Recordings are starting about 1 minute late

Suggestions:

GUIDE

Shaw knows what channels we subscribe to - how bout a 1-button choice to display subscribed channels only??

How bout a 1-button choice to display ALL channels?

How bout an option to copy the settings from another portal instead of individually selecting channels for every portal!!

FOLDERS

In addition to the multiple sort parameters already mentioned by others:

How bout folders by type?? In particular: MOVIES folder !!

Or store non-series recordings by channel?? Ie. HBO, HGTV

There's a good chance you don't have a 'channel 2' on your channel map. I don't. I recall it was one of the ways to determine if you were on an 'all digital' channel map or still on one with the analog channels. My guess would be this is the first time you may have noticed this or is there a specific channel on channel 2 in your area and it really should be in the list?

I really like your suggestions for the menu options. I vote yes to all of them.

I a still missing several channel icons

So am I after a month; I think there are channels that don't have icons and thus the generic icon is displayed. It seems a number of the HD channels don't have icons, and for some reason they don't just use the SD icon for that channel. If I remember, nothing was displayed at first; and then once the icons loaded I then had generic ones on some channels. Are you getting none at all, or the generic one?

Here's a new one, I just noticed today with a recording done last night. You'll be watching a recorded show, the screen will go black and the sound will cut out for a split second and you'll lose whatever frames were in the blanked out section, if you rewind the blankout is still in the same spot.

On Vampire Diaries last night, it happened probably a dozen+ times during the show.

What's even more interesting, I found the same behaviour on an older recording of Alpha's from early August.

So it looks like an ongoing bug affecting both is1 and is2. Anyone else seeing this?

is there a specific channel on channel 2 in your area and it really should be in the list?Certainly there is: CBWT CBC Winnipeg. It is the only network station in Winnipeg without an HD option.

My desired channel grid is simple:

* HD Plus minus all sports channels
* HD Movie Central/HBO
* CBC ch2

I want:
No SD channels except CBC ch 2
No sports channels
No 'Galaxy' channels
No VOD/PPV channels
No foreign/specialty channels
No garbage/promo channels

PS As a retired broadcast engineer and subsciber to the same cable company for 40+ years, I think I am pretty familiar with the channel map.

Sorry for trying to suggest a solution. "Location: Geographic Centre of North America" doesn't tell me or anyone else where you are and since you are an engineer, one might think you would have the answers to these issues or at least know someone who does?

You pretty well described the same channels I only have on my guide, takes a fair bit of time to set it up... Other than that mysterious channel 2. :-)

I do not have channel logos for CTV HD 1 or 2

Ditto for channels 216/217/210, and it seems some time recently, maybe when the CTVHD(?) channel was added, the YTVHD (226) logo disappeared, it was there in the channel listing a month or so back, but now it's the default logo as well.

I agree with Jetranger. Being able to sort recordings by date would be handy. (I don't have a lot of recordings....yet, but once they start adding up with the new seasons, having to scroll through everything could get tedious.) just a thought...... have the pvr screen mirror the main screen. ie: sort by category or title and date; not just have everything in one loooong loooong single list. again, it's not an issue for me yet, but I can see it becoming one in a few weeks and many recordings later.

re: menu option, add my vote to that as well: the portals "Talk" to the gateway, why can't they talk to each other. I'd add one more button.... an option to clone the portal settings from an existing one or to have it set independently in regards to things like subscribed channels and favorites. ((if similar things can be done with a cordless phone, is it that difficult to have a similar feature on these portals?))

if I'm repeating anything from these previous posts. ok.

just curious if the cable drop into our house should still be filtered or if it makes a difference. it's basic hd/digital with tier 3 plus internet. all of the tv's going through an mp2000 (home portal). pretty sure i saw a filter when i ran new rg6 in a couple years ago. (to replace rg59). i just left that filter, was only trying to improve the cable throughout the house. if removing the filter would help internet and tv, and not cause problems with shaw....i'd happily remove it. :). back then all the tv's were analog, now they're all hd. (which makes me think the filter is possibly obsolete and just forgotten)

i'm sure many of you know, however an official answer would be appreciated.(shaw employee).

I just received my gateway today and am getting frustrated with how slow the menu is. At first I thought my remote wasn't pointing at the machine so I adjusted that and still it is painfully slow. So I went to another portal and it was working fine. The only difference between the two is that I hid a bunch of channels on the first machine. Could that have something to do with it? I have also powered it on and off. Is it a faulty machine?

After the Code update, the system seemed a little snappier and more stable.

After waiting 2.5 weeks for a service call to exchange a defective portal, the tech arrived on Saturday morning. He was fresh out of training and had not done any Gateway Experience installs before. Never the less, he managed to get replacement portal up and running with the help of his phone support in about 15 minutes.

Saturday, broadcasts were full of video and audio jitters, but Sunday the system (live TV + PVR) worked flawlessly as it should. This morning, All 3 TVs start up with the message that I no longer subscribe to ANY channels. Power cycling the portals did nothing. Power cycling the Gateway restored service. However, the video and audio jitters are back and local Global HD is frozen.

This is nuts. TV should just work. My family will not be pleased to have be continually pulling the plug on components in the hope that "it might work this time."

I have two Apple TVs hooked up in the house and they stream content just fine. In 1.5 years and on 2 units you can count on a few fingers the number of glitches we have had with them.

The Shaw "Gateway Experience" is being misleadingly advertised and sold as proven technology, but it is still at best a beta technology. Add to this the lack of customer support availability (and yes, being on hold for hours is unacceptable). Unfortunately, Shaw has me over a barrel as they are the only game available in my area for non-satelite TV.

TV should just work.

Since iS2 the Gateway has been flawless for me. The only problem I have had is the HDMI would show "no signal" on my Viewsonic TV (worked fine before the iS2update). The LG and Samsung TV's are fine on HDMI. Had to change to component video on the Viewsonic.

Other than that, the Gateway has become very stable with no unplugging required. I am really enjoying the better picture, recording 6 shows at the same time, and flawless operation.

I switched over from Bell Satellite after 10 years. Bell picture quality has been watered down trying to provide too many local HD channels in both English and French. Bell provides only 720p while Shaw is 1080i and I have noticed an improved picture since coming over to Shaw.

I experienced my first "not subscribed" message on the portals today. I went down to the gateway and it looked like it lost the connection.

I power cycled the gateway and then the portals and it all came up.

I remember someone mentioning that there is a "restart system"option somewhere in the settings, but I haven't been able to find it. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Sure, go to settings, Local Network Settings, and either refresh (1st), if that doen's work, try reconnect.

Thanks to all those who are posting solutions and problems here. I've been reading for months before taking the plunge and switching fromm Bell TV (after 13 years) to Shaw Gateway.

I got mine installed Friday evening (10th install in Lethbridge - or so I was told) and it has worked ok. I'm assuming I got the new code right off the bat so I can't compare the two. The picture quality and sound quality over Bell is a huge + for me. I can't believe BellTV called theirs HD - it is a night and day difference in how much more clear the Shaw picture is.

I've only had to 'reboot' the entire system once, Saturday morning. All my golf/football games recorded and it all worked great.

My main issue is #1 Food network channel states it has no signal or no signal is being broadcast - that is odd, maybe thought I'm missing frequency, but all other channels work - I called Shaw and I'm getting a tech out later this week - but wondering if anyone else had that issue.

#2 (more annoying then problem) is the speed of changing channels, going to/from guide, etc. - if there is any + that Bell has over Shaw is that their PVR was simple and remote driven (not menu driven as the Gateway is)

Thanks again to everyone here!
