A couple of nights ago, I switched over to TSN HD to watch a hockey game. Instead of seeing the game, I saw Homer attempting to jump over Springfield Gorge on a skateboard. Odd. I clicked Info to see if I was on the right channel. It stated TSN. (Please, Gateway gods, let's have the option to display the channel number on the front of the Portal.)

Unless TSN has decided to go in a new direction, I knew this was just another gremlin infesting the Gateway. I looked through the Guide to see which channel was supposed to be showing the Simpsons. It was Omni. I figured a switcheroo had occurred and TSN HD was now occupying Omni HD's usual slot. As it turned out, Omni was on Omni. So I was getting two Omni HDs for the price of one and TSN HD was nowhere in sight. I checked the other Portals to see if they had the same problem. Nope. It was just the one Portal.

I thought rebooting the Portal might resurrect TSN, but decided to play around instead. I randomly switched channels and watched recordings for a few seconds and every now and then jumped back to TSN's usual slot. Can't really explain why I did that (except for being insane), but after about five minutes, TSN came back from network purgatory. Perhaps TSN would have come back on its own without my doing all of that, but at least I was keeping myself entertained.

I'm quite sure I've read about others experiencing something similar to this. Anyway, it seems like a one-off and all's good again (relatively speaking, of course, because we are talking about the Gateway).

I'm really starting to get fed up with waiting FOREVER for these bugs to be worked out. I'm pretty patient, but it's been WAAAAAYYYY too long!!!!

There is actually supposed to be a 'bug fix' code release coming on the 7th of this month, so only 3 more days. It will basically be an iS2"+" version of the code we have now and is supposed to include several fixes for the more common problems.

The next full code drop won't come until the early new year as it has some issues that still need fixing. So much for the early Xmas present:confused:. At least we should see an improvement this week, or at least I'm hoping we will.

Also, it needs to be remembered that there were some big bugs when it first came out, and those were fixed. Now we're talking about cleaning up a bunch of little bugs, while at the same time people want new features. Basically, after a code release the have a couple of weeks to identify new issues, a couple to write new code and send it out to the beta testers (employees), and then a few weeks to identify issues created by the new code and fix them before committing to a release to us. All this has to be done without breaking the current code (causing new issues). That's actually an insane schedule. When I worked for HP, if we identified a single major issue, getting code out to fix it would take longer than that.

I was on another forum and found a Shaw Gateway survey. It's a customer generated survey looking to collect user opinions about the Gateway, and it even let's you offer an opinion as to what you'd like to see as a priority for the code fixes and feature updates. Just do a Google search for "Shaw Gateway survey" and look for a result on SurveyMonkey; it was the 4th one down for me. The results will be shared afterward.

The iS2 '+' code is supposed to drop tonight. I'll be checking in the morning to see if there is any change to the info on my Gateway and then hoping to see some improvements right away. Here's to hoping there are no new introduced issues.

Don't know if I got the update, but did get a new station on 300. "Find your movie on Shaw Video on Demand"
The blocks of missing Guide channels is definitely not fixed. :(

I checked this morning and my versions are the same as Jorton. What was updated was the guide and a couple of other things, entitlements and logs I believe.
so would that be my weekly reset that I noticed happening?

I think they are starting in Vancouver so other areas should happen soon. So far, mine hasn't changed either.

On another note: The Daily Show last night got split into 3 parts. I was really hoping this was a cause of the update but no such luck.

No software update here (Calgary) yet.

Nothing here yet, either (Vancouver). Similar to Jetranger, I noticed that my recording of George Snuffleupagus last night was split into two parts, thinking that the update might have caused that, but no dice.

The software versions (Gateway and Portal) will change to 7.0.1b... for those who know how to find it. As always, if you know how, be extremely careful you don't inadvertently change any settings.

The code should be loading to boxes in Vancouver today and might take several days to be seen in other areas now. Not sure why but I guess all we can do is remain 'patient'.

I read on another forum that the survey I mentioned one page back only needs 17 more responses before it reaches 75 total responses, at which point the results will be released. I am curious to see what the priorities are for a broad sampling of customers; if you haven't participated yet please do contribute your opinion!

Good news is that my Portals were updated this morning around 9 AM; bad news is that the Gateway wasn't updated. Kind of strange. So the wait continues.

@Catnip - It is just bug fixes this time around, no new features.
