I have noticed that the Gateway clock (and the connected portals and guide) have gone back an hour. There is no daylight savings time in Saskatchewan, so this is screwing things up. Does anyone know of a fix for this issue? Thanks.
new gateway system installed thursday, and this morning no signal on either tv
unplugged all waited 10 minutes, plugged in the gateway, waited 5 minutes, plugged in the terminals, its been 10 minutes, still no signal...
went to the shaw website nothing really, the ask amy thing hooked me up to a chat box that hasn't responded in the last half hour

I live in Richmond BC and I've had the Gateway recently installed.
I've so far found nothing but problems with this unit.
Its very unstable and jumpy using the fast forward capabilities on recorded material as well as live broadcast. Some HD channels look unclear and soft
compared to my previous Moto 6414 III . I really hate not having the channels on the front of the unit like the Moto had, who needs a clock when we have clocks throughout the house. The Moto had its disadvantages like only having two tuners and such and you couldn't portal it like you can with the Arris but when watching TV, the things that are important are the 1. picture quality and usability of the menu system and activation of the PVR itself. Another noticeable gripe is the slowness of the changing of channels on this unit, the Moto was quicker and more responsive.
If I had seen this unit in operation working in the store I would have never boughten it. In my case Bestbuy. I'm totally shocked being that this unit has been on the Canadian market for months now and being that Shaw had built up my confidence with my experience with the Moto 6414 III, that this PVR is close to being called cheap junk. Maybe thats why Shaw reduced the price by $200 because they know it cheap junk as well.
Anyone else have these issues with this unit ?

Concerning bad picture quality, I have the opposite experience. The picture looks better using the Portal compared to what I had before, the Motorola DCX3400. Another person also noticed this on my set. I also had a Motorola DCT3416 before the DCX3400 and didn't notice any difference in PQ between those two (so one could infer that the Portal also looks better than the DCT3416 on my set). Anyway, that's just my experience and the reasons for the PQ difference could be anything.
All in all, I'm relatively content with the Gateway (and eagerly awaiting future code updates). The only reason I'm not as frustrated as you are is that I made my purchase after reading this forum. I knew all about the "quirks," so if I had any regrets, I would have only myself to blame. As for those who weren't fortunate enough to read this forum beforehand, I certainly understand your frustration with Shaw releasing a product with so many quirks, which must have been an unpleasant surprise for many.

Ok anyone know why when watching music channels in the 400's do the songs only have the title and no artist or any other info? Is this a known issue? or is there a fix for this? Just curious and did not see others complaining about this.

Edmt area GW and 3 portals for 3 weeks now.
Like most I've had good and bad.
Initial install Oct 19 - Shaw backend or system or servers or something crashed related to the GW. Tech could not register/setup everything that day. We completed the install later that night/next day by remote/text/phone. Props to the Shaw tech for following up but wish it had gone smoother.
Several phone calls, reboot power cycling and a service call to replace many of the faulty splitters/parts on Nov 2.
Nov 6 - new problem not seen before. I mainly watch HD channels so not sure if it's on non-HD. 4-6 of my channels have 'no signal' errors black screen. They might come back after 20-60 mins but by then 3-5 different HD channels are now MIA with same message.
Call to SHAW GW support. He was unsure of this particular problem and cannot communicate to my system (is this a big warning?). He can see that the signal seems strong going into my system. Scheduled another tech visit for later this week but the fact he wasn't aware of what could cause this problem makes me wonder how up to date the GW support is?
Any help would be appreciated.

Is anyone listening about the auto sleep mode? It is rather annoying when you have music on and it suddenly goes silent. I decide when equipment gets turned off normally, and find it a real hindrance to have to come in and tell the unit to $^%$% wake up!!!

The old Moto remote had a Day up/down button.
I hope there is an equivalent key combo for the Gateway that I simply haven't found yet.
Alternatively, what are folks doing to set PVR into the future for single recordings?
Scrolling through time is pretty awkward as is doing a search so hopefully there is a better way.

Day - = back
Skip and Replay do three hours each I believe

Having a 'moment'. Were do I find the Day button (or button equivalent) on the Gateway.

Skip button on gateway remote = day + equivalent on old moto remote
Replay button on gateway remote = day - equivalent on old moto remote
The Next buttons and Back buttons go forward or back 3 hrs in guide.

Here's another interesting one for the mix
I've been turning on the tv/portal and it's been defaulting to channel 13 (CityTV/CKVU) but it's got station logo of MeTV and they keep talking about MeTV during commercials. Everytime I've looked at it in the past week they were showing cowboy movies, I'd hit info and it would list something completely different, like some talk show or whatever.
Well today it was listing Rachel Ray, so I fired up the DCX3400 and it was showing Rachel Ray on channel 13.
Called Gateway support number, got a tech that said I need to talk to the Gateway Support department and transfered me?!?!!?? Anyhow confirmed with the next tech that he was with gateway support.
He didn't have any info on this problem, and couldn't find a listing for MeTV on the Shaw channel listing for Vancouver. He suggested a reset of the gateway, that resolved it and channel 13 went back to Rachel Ray.
Turns out it was KVOS, not sure how it accidentally or randomly got switched to channel 13 on the gateway, but there you have it...
And yes JetRanger, things do seem to be slowly coming apart at the seams again with the Gateway system :-(
I don't see any updates on IS3, you've got any updated info on that? Shaw Champ, DeaEnforcement?????

Was watching tv at 3 am (Nov 10, 2011) and a message came on and stated an update was available and the portal needed to be restarted. It actually appeared twice so I restarted it both times. Went to bed shortly after so I didn't play around to see if there was any improvements. Is this a regular event or could this have been a new iS update?

Really wish they would colour code different types of tv programming in the guide (Sports, movies, etc)
Also, like the old guide, where if you press to bring up the guide and press guide again it will just show you what the channel shows for the next hours.
And I still find it odd that they don't have a true exit button.
