JethroChoiceBro, I noticed the same issue with the channel guide missing channels after editing the channel list even though those missing channels weren't deselected. It's a known issue since before the code update to iS2 (see Shaw Guru's post from the old thread (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=1286197&postcount=928)).

Try starting from scratch, i.e., reselect everything, then deselect all the channels that you don't want in the guide except don't deselect the Galaxie music channels (assuming you were deselecting the music channels in the first place). That solved the problem for me (showing the minimum amount of channels that I actually prefer not to see, which are all the music channels in this case), although I can't guarantee it will work for you since we probably aren't subscribed to the exact same channels, plus the issue seems kind of random, anyway.

Biggest item for me is the sync issue with audio. It seems others are getting this as well - I have not seem any information on a fix or fix coming yet.

is anyone else noticing this,

my audio at times will drop out for a split second, like a little blip. sometimes quite often. Is anyone else experiencing this?

That combined with the audio sync issues makes watching tv unejoyable.

Hope a fix for these is on its way soon.

Last night, I was watching Dancing With the Stars (don't hate me). It was recorded from the eastern feed in HD from ABC. There were several skips forward through the program, as if I was hitting the forward button. The information was not there (the skipped part) as I tried going back and it played back exactly as happened originally.

Assuming any of you folks out there were also watching the same show (because you were watching with your wife of course)... Did this problem crop up with you too?

Perhaps your wife "mentioned" it to you because real men don't watch this show???

There does seem to be a growing list of both old and new issues. I have had an increasing number of both audio and picture 'skips' and I have confirmed they are not in the signal as the same time period and channel on my 3400 has no occurrence of same. I haven't had any issues with audio sync but I have seen it on some channels that were previously mentioned but I never watch them so it doesn't affect me.

The next code release should be in Shaw testing soon, if it isn't already, and we will likely see it either by the end of November or at least before Christmas, I think. This is all just speculation so please take it for what it's worth.

I did a search and there are several people that have reported getting a P002 error when selecting VOD. I do not see any answers on how anyone fixed it. I would like to avoid calling Shaw as I don't have the patience for waiting on hold for an hour or 2 to get it sorted. If anyone found a fix I would love to hear it.
Thanks.

Avmechanic,
I fought with this since install; calling tech support to get them to reset/refresh my account which would get VOD to work for 1 day before going back to error.

After approx 10+ resets, finally got tech to my home who found my gateway was not responding to network requests correctly so replaced gateway unit.

This was earlier today and it still works so I'll post in a few days if it resolved the problem for good.

Downside is switching gateway means I lose ALL my recordings, ALL settings, ALL scheduled recordings, everything. I'm trying to get a partial refund now since I bought a PVR and ...

@ShawChamp - So double checking my 2 portals I stand corrected - having the same channels selected in the list does give me the same missing channels in the grid guide on both portals.

@MetroVan - Thanks for your suggestions, it got me close but was still missing a handful. Played with it for a while selecting some of the PPV channels also, got me closer again but then reached a point where selecting an extra channel in the list would add a missing channel in one section of the guide but delete one in another section. No matter what i tried could never get the combination right.

Oh well, the other guide is certainly usable and as mentioned, its a known issue so hopeful a fix will come

Hi roopster77, my girlfriend (honest) had the same issue with Dancing with the Stars on the Gateway recording where there were several skips forward. I'm also running a moto as well and have been recording using both as a precaution until some of these gateway issues are fixed. After getting annoyed at the skipping we switched to the moto recording and had the same issue with some skipping forward on the moto so I'm assuming maybe it was a network issue or something but not specific to the Gateway.

Cheers,

T3

Had the same happen to me this week, wife then mentioned that it had happend a few days before, spent a good hour on hold with gateway support (this was around 9pm or so) and the tech mentioned that he'd heard some of his colleagues discussing this problem with other customers, he then indicated he had a long procedure to follow to resolve it, 15-20 minutes later and a reset/reboot of the gateway and it was working fine. This tech seemed to know what he was doing and answered technical questions well.

Next night, same problem, called gateway support, got someone that didn't know the system very well and said as much, she contacted the higher level support and she said there was nothing they could do but send a tech out. I pointed out that the previous nights tech had followed a known procedure, but she couldn't find info on that, she'd also asked me to reboot everything to which I replied, I hadn't had to reboot ANYTHING with the previous tech. After about 15-20 minutes of me getting more frustrated, I tried it again and the error was gone with nothing done on either side, at which point I said goodnight and that I'd call back for service call if anymore problems.

Happily problem hasn't reoccured in the past 3-5 days.

This is actually the first time I've called gateway support where I didn't get someone who really seemed to know their "stuff", so both a novel and somewhat unpleasant experience..

Just to add one additional point to this for anyone experiencing the P002 error on VOD ("Badly formatted request" error).

When the tech came out and replaced my Gateway unit, the issue that let him to believe it was faulty hardware was that the Central shaw location can send a signal to the gateway instructing it to restart, and "ping" back an OK that it is ready. From what he said, this should be a function that always works - in the case of my unit, the central station would send this signal, but my unit would not reset or respond back..

Perhaps if anyone is trying to debug this, and calls tech support, maybe you could ask them to send this signal to reset your gateway and ask if they see it respond back. That might at least expedite the diagnosis of bad or misbehaving hardware. I'm on day 2 of a new Gateway and VOD still works and this was not ever the case with my original hardware. Fingers crossed.

How is this going to work?

MyVOD

is it a hidden feature they just have to turn on on the IS2 boxes or is this something we will be expecting in IS3?

Given that it's purportedly available on Nov 01...

I think it's safe to assume it's already in the current code.

Hey, I currently have a 3416cb but I'm looking to upgrade but had a quick question for any Gateway owners that might now this first ?
Does the new Arris Gateway box support consumer electronic control or CEC protocol is HDMI 1.3 ?
It should be able to as the Shaw site says it HDMI 1.3a spec which is what it needs to support this great feature.
What CEC does is allow you to control a HDMI 1.3+ box or bluray player using any TV that 1.3+ .
The reason currently my plasma in my bedroom only has a HDMI cable connected to it which means to use my current 3416cb (this is in my av rack in the media room) I have to use I a remote extended to control my 3416cb but it flaky at times. I know my TV is capable of this as I can control my blu-ray player but was wondering if any knows if the Arris gateway box was capable of this ?
Thanks Steven

Mach3, If I understand you correctly, you are feeding more than one TV with a single DCT3416? With the Gateway system, you place a Portal at each TV or 'viewing location' so I don't think your question will apply. Forgive me if I have misunderstood you.

Sorry if I didn't explain it too well but he the deal. In my basement I have my bedroom, media room & 2 other utilities rooms. Currently the 3416 is in a rack in the media room with a hdmi out that splits into two feeds which then send one hdmi to the bedroom plasma & one to the receiver then a projector. Controlling the 3416 in the media room is no problem as there in the same room but controlling it in the bedroom is the issue. I currently using a wireless remote extended but that's not working too well so I either try one of the wired system or hope that the gateway box does CEC. The CEC the idea way as then it just uses the IR remote pickup on the plasma & send the remote command over the hdmi like I can do with my blu-ray player.
The problem with just adding a Portal is there is no cable out free near the plasma in the bedroom as the only income feed to the basement is already split between the 3416 & the internet cable modem.
Any input or guidance is welcome :-)

After a quick search of the ARRIS website, it seems the answer is: 'No'. From what I can tell, while the HDMI 1.3a specification is 'capable' of handling CEC, it does not necessarily mean CEC is part of the system. I couldn't find any mention of CEC or Consumer Electronics Control on the ARRIS site using their search tool.

Maybe this is something ARRIS should consider adding? It might have more uses than they would think but more than likely Shaw didn't want it as they can sell more Portals without it. Is there a problem for your installation to run a new coax to the bedroom? Adding splitters to the system isn't a big deal and Shaw will do the work for you for free, including appropriate splitters and cable.

I know they can but they complain last time about how cable outlet we had last times when they came to install the phone modem. I really just want to try the Arris gateway setup on one of the TV but from what I have read it's not that easy. Thanks for the info on the Arris

I had the Gateway and one Portal installed on one TV initially and had moto boxes on my other two TV's. I did this primarily because of the numerous issues identified on this site . It isn't a big deal to do this they just have to isolate the MoCA from the other feeds. I have since replaced the two remaining Moto boxes with Portals and I am very happy with the setup (finally :))

Got the gateway today and its really annoying me... one thing I noticed is I have had the box "working" for 4 hours... none of my channels have call letters or logos... guide listing is complete.. . but no logos like in the videos or mentioned here.... is this a winnipeg only issue?
