dh1s13 2011-09-15, 08:06 PM Hi
Yeah,I have been getting lots of break ups on City TV ever since the beginning of this week.Sometime the signal is completely gone for one to two minutes then come back and my signal meter is only showing 32 on my Sharp 26'' lcd.I know that they are broadcasting from the First Canadian Place until the end of October, when they will move permanently to the CN Tower.I wonder if thats the reason for the inconsistent signal.
PPL4GOLF 2011-09-16, 01:06 AM I lucked out in Willowdale area. The signal has jumped from 3-4/10 to 9+/10 on CityTV since the switch to 44.1 while Omni 1/2's are about the same 8/10 to 10/10.
This part i really can't complain....BUT
PPL4GOLF 2011-09-16, 01:09 AM City TV is 58 minutes ahead again on the clock...What's going on ?
Not that it matters with the garbage PSIP data...but still, wrong clock is just plain unacceptable.
City TV is 58 minutes ahead again on the clock...What's going on ?Same in Ottawa on 65.1. :( Roger's OMNIs haven't had this issue...
El Gran Chico 2011-09-16, 10:55 AM Suggestion: phone them and ask for engineering or master control (if you email them, chances are you either won't get a response or get some form letter response).

El Gran Chico 2011-09-16, 04:49 PM I have to pinch myself to see if this is real - I see real program data on CITY and Omni's PSIP. Looks like 24 hours worth.

Maxwedge 2011-09-16, 05:03 PM Nice! Just a few more to go..... ;)
recneps77 2011-09-16, 07:09 PM Give them a week or so to realize someone took initiative in their job and put it in without being asked. Then they'll correct it to DTV PROGRAM #### again. ;)
Jase88 2011-09-16, 07:48 PM Yes! I see this as well! What a shock!
scruffy416 2011-09-16, 07:51 PM Prior to the DTV Transition, when I watched shows like Law and Order:SVU, it looked like the picture was 480p or 480i source upconverted to 1080i.
I'm watching today and the picture looks a lot more like 1080i source, or maybe 720p upconverted.
Also, a lot (not all) of the 'promo graphics' for the channel (next on OMNI, etc) are a lot more crisp and sharp. As are some of their HD ads.
Anyone else notice this?
Jase88 2011-09-16, 07:56 PM Hmmm. HD on all three channels looks good right now. Can't say definitively if there's an improvement or not.

LOL! I also think this is just an accident which will be 'fixed':)
DH is great and I hope the station engineers do read our stuff and get a good laugh (at themselves).
Now, CBC went 720p and it's such an eyesore. The quality after overscanning is terrible. Anyone reading ?:)
I have to pinch myself to see if this is real - I see real program data on CITY and Omni's PSIP. Looks like 24 hours worth.Brilliant! :D Getting the EPG (with full descriptions) for both OMNIs and CityTV here in the Ottawa / Gatineau area as well. That's great.
downbeat 2011-09-17, 03:01 AM Alas … no program info for Citytv or Omni in Calgary at this time.

Letterman is a hallmark program to spot PQ difference between WIVB-HD and CFMT/Omni1.
They fuzzy image on Omni1 was so apparent before and you could spot it easily looking at the prints on the mug and the detail on the microphone.
I flipped back and forth a few times yesterday and the two channels seemed to identical.
The PSIP descriptions are different. CBS's is more useful with who's on. Well, I am not complaining LOL
Well done Omni !
Jase88 2011-09-17, 05:22 PM Agreed that Letterman is a good "benchmark" for PQ on OMNI 1. Even back in the SD days, Letterman's show had an inferior PQ on OMNI. Good to hear that things have improved in that regard.
As Letterman is back to new shows on Monday, I'll set my DVR to record and investigate for myself.
Jase88 2011-09-20, 12:55 AM I would definitely say that PQ has improved at OMNI 1 (47.1). I couldn't discern a PQ difference between WIVB 4.1 (CBS Buffalo) and the OMNI 1 feeds. The "Letterman" comparison test was applied...
dsspredator 2011-09-20, 06:39 AM I couldn't discern a PQ difference between WIVB 4.1 (CBS Buffalo) and the OMNI 1 feeds.
Same deal with TPIR.
Bman72s 2011-09-20, 08:55 AM I am still having minor break ups on City Toronto every minute or so. To a lesser extent this is also happening on the 2 Omnis. Anyone else experiencing this? Must all be for the same reason. Seems too coincidental with the 3 stations all tied together.
