At the risk of being a broken record, it is interesting how many issues they are having given the several years they had to prepare.

Schmerpy, don't forget the CBC had to switch to a brand new way of distributing HD video. Marc, correct me if I am wrong, but from what I gather they used to use a direct link from Toronto to each station. This was fine when there were only a limited number of stations broadcasting in HD (and mostly in Ontario or Quebec), but now that all stations across the country require HD streams, this would be prohibitively expensive.

The new system has them transmit 5 HD streams on satellite (one for each timezone) and have the local stations add the local commercials. This required a new automation server and it is that server that is causing all the problems.

Now I can understand the frustration with the problems, but understanding the root cause can sometimes help.

roger1818,

I've basically said the same thing in this topic, although not in as much detail. It doesn't seem to matter to some.

Myself, I don't excuse it, but I understand the kind of issues CBC is dealing with, and I know for a fact they will resolve the issues and PSIP will work fine. The only question is when.

From direct first hand experience I can tell you any number of US DTV stations had the same kind of issues for years after going on the digital air. Years. And they weren't doing anything as complicated as network distribution either. I don't expect this will be the case with CBC.

Anybody watching Jeopardy right now? I just flipped it on...some sort of echo/phasey/flanging going on. :o

Commercials are unaffected, and twice as loud as the show. :( Reception is fine. Hopefully it's just Jeopardy?

...ok, false alarm, the audio is fixed now that the commercial break is over. As you were!

I didn't notice anything unusual with Jeopardy from CBLT-DT Toronto....

For the first time CBET Windsor is now sending program guide info today.

Are you sure this isn't TVGOS data that your tuner is catching?!? There's no EPG (PSIP) data going out over CBLT Toronto currently....

Getting EPG on the TV's and converter boxes here right now. Looks like the transition is 100% complete for CBET.

edit: stopped working on 1 converter box but the HDTV still has it.
Current program is no longer being displayed but future stuff is shown.

edit2: At 5pm, working fully now on all tuners.

Interesting. You'd think they'd start with a larger cities' transmitter first. Good to know that it appears CBC is (finally) moving in the right direction....

OddyOh - I noticed the weird audio on Jeopardy as well. I've heard it a few times before on other CBC shows also, but it's always been brief.

I can second that CBET is now passing EPG data in its PSIP stream on all my units. At 5pm my AccessHD DTA1080D and Samsung DTB-H260F shows guide info including CBC News Windsor from 10:55-11:05. The Samsung DTB-H260F is also showing program descriptions for some events such as The National and Republic of Doyle. The current event that is on does not show any guide info so I can check to make sure it appears on my Samsung LN-T3242H, although that unit is at least showing the name of the current show.

Way to go CBET!

Yeah, I think it's happened on HNIC a few times before. Oh well, part of the uncharted territory of this brave new HD world, I'm sure.

I can verify that EPG is working on CBET, as well. NOTE - the time is ~4 minutes slow though...

For CBRT-DT Calgary, still no program info. And the clock is off … by quite a bit.
Current time is purportedly 10:21 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2106!

My Motorola HDT100 DTV tuner, which is about 9 years old, lost the previous call letters (CBET) and channel 9-1, and is now showing the channel as 9-3 with zero PSIP info.

9.3 is the actual channel. Properly formatted PSIP data maps that to 9-1.

Update: After another rescan, today I'm again getting the correct call letters, channel 9-1, and time (3-4 minutes slow). The current program data is missing, upcoming listings are there but are incorrect:

5-6pm The Truth About Liars
6-7pm CBC News Windsor at 6
3-6pm NHL Hockey
6-6:30pm CBC News: The National
6:30-7pm Hockey Night In Canada: Hockey Tonight
12-1am Coronation Street

Ken - I am getting call letters and EPG on CBET currently. The time is the only thing that is off(by 4 minutes)
