Threads that say "Status" in the title are only about the current technical and operational status of stations and/or networks.

They are not about local reception experienced by consumers.

With all of Canada divided up into local OTA reception threads there are times when situations at the stations or networks affect many or all areas at once. To prevent a bunch of different threads from each having their own post saying something like "CJTL 43.1 just went dead - what's going on?" we require that the appropriate Station or Network Status thread be used instead. Here are some important requirements:

Give your location or put it into your member profile
Give the call letters and channel number of the station or name of the network in question
Don't make a full local reception report
Don't discuss whether you or others may or may not like the programming on it
Don't ask for help with your OTA gear or comment on the OTA gear of others
Take discussions about local OTA reception issues to the proper Reception Results Forum thread

As always, if you are in contact with staff of stations or networks please remember to invite them to join this site and explain our Station and Network Status Forum. We have had many people from inside the broadcasting industry as members here, and they are all most welcome here.

Another tip for everyone reporting stations status updates: if you have a signal strength meter on your TV or tuner it would be informative to know what it said before and after any status changes. Whether it is shown in numbers, bars on a graph, or words it can sometimes be helpful.

If you lose track of where your post has gone, simply go to the DHC Quick Links menu and pull down to "My Posts". Another method is to go to one of your previous posts anywhere on the DHC site and click on your own user name to the left to get to the "Find More Posts By..." menu item.

Here's how to always have the newest, latest posts displayed when you open a thread (I highly advise it!):

In the blue navbar click on "User CP"
under "Your Control Panel" at the left of the screen select "Edit Options"
scroll down to "Thread Display Mode"
select "Linear - Newest First"

I cannot stress this enough - your LOCATION is critical information in OTA Station and Network Status posts.

Enter your location (city/town, nearest major intersection) into your member user data so that it is always visible.

As an example, look to the left of this post under my own user name to see my "Location:"

To clarify:
If a glitch/change/question concerns the DTV broadcasts seen on every station of the network it goes in the appropriate NETWORK thread.
If the same is particularly about just one individual location on that network it goes in the appropriate STATION thread.This was done to address some problems that had occurred in the past with access to urgent information being muddled. It also helps us to keep those threads more geographically based, which is crucial to those needing to check status.

Are there now separate threads for each station? How about repeaters (or do those problems get put in the master station's thread)?

Station threads, which are also for repeaters, are geographically based. For example, a person having problems with a station in southern Manitoba who has already checked that his/her local gear is fine does not need to go looking through Buffalo or Montreal station status posts. If the same person wants to see if the entire network is having the same problem as locally seen, the NETWORK thread might hold the answer.
