Hi Gang....

I had changed Calgary and I see Mackerel is reporting positive results.

I've now changed Vancouver. Can one of you with WMC give it a try and see if it's working better?

If so, I'll do the rest of the country late night on the weekend.

Thanks!

Dan

As for me now my computer only get 22.1 once and it is remapping to 8.1
I did a scan with the antenna on the tv it still gets 22.1 with no remapping so I removed the antenna did a scan then added antenna did a scan and it still gets 22.1 with no remapping to 8.1
With the computer workingas it should I can now get 25.1 remapping to 22.1 :)

Excellent work navwizard... 41.1 is working in Vista Media Center here just northwest of Toronto.

Thanks.

Navwizard,

I want to thank you for your work and consideration. I did a scan with my old Motorola DSR-550 today and I can now tune to Global Montreal. I couldn't be happier! This is testament to what an organization can do when it listens to its clients. Once again, thank you!

Gang....

Glad to hear it's working better for you guys.

For those technical types interested, the PAT/PMT can either come from the PSIP generator, or from the encoder. When we put our new PSIP/Encoder combination in, we were getting high PCR errors if the PSIP unit generated the PAT/PMT, so set the encoder to generate them. An artifact of that is the Transport ID inside the PAT did not match the TSID in the PSIP. That seemed to work fine on all the TVs we tested so we didn't notice a problem, but it appears now that's what was causing some other devices to have trouble tuning, notably WMC.

It seems different devices work different ways. We can't test all of them of course, and I appreciate the feedback to help us out and your patience as we sort out issues.

Thanks!

Dan

Hi Dan,

Its great having your input and efforts here on this thread.

FYI WMC still cant scan/find the global signal (RF6 mapped to 6.1 here in ottawa) on my system. NPVR finds it just fine....and I get the channel just fine in terms of signal strength on my vip-302sr.

Hi Dan,

It looks like there is still a mismatch on the TSID for Ottawa. I can't tune global in WMC, either.

From TSReader

For clarity, the 17195 one is the correct value. 17321 is the TSID for CIII-TV-41 in Toronto.

Gang...

Yeah, Ottawa is slightly more complex in that the TSID is "remapped". I'm guessing the device doing that is not doing the PAT either.

Thanks for the notes, I'll look into that.

Cheers!

Ditto here, Toronto RF41 on 41.1 is working perfectly in WMC again :)

Likewise, 41.1 started working here as well on Win7 MC - thanks navwizard for your help getting this going!

Noticed this in CIII Channel 41 Toronto's PSIP (EIT) today:

Channel 1
Service Name: CIII-HD
Provider Name:
Transport Stream ID: 17321 (0x43a9)

---------------------------------------------
Starts: 2011-09-02 19:30:00
Length: 97:30:00
EIT Source: n/a
Name: DTV Program
Description: DTV Program

I think this means we'll see over 4 days of "DTV Program" instead of nothing form program information, then maybe some real guide data?? :)

Manual input of global works in WMC & here in Ottawa today! I haven't tried the channel scan again but its working... that's what matters.

Excellent.

Ottawa "should" be working correctly now for those of you that were having scanning problems. We did some PSIP tweaks late Thursday night.

Cheers!

I'm excited to hear that proper PSIP data is coming to Global stations! I've been waiting for this for a long time now...

Cool. i would really like to test but even if i was getting a fair to good analog Global Ottawa signal, now i can`t even scan it with my medium VHF antenna in the attic which is connected to a preamp after 20-25 feet. Model is Delhi VIPO302sr pointed at Camp Fortune, VHF Lo gain of 4.

Will Global Ottawa apply for a higher ERP on a temporary basis under the TO status ? That can help raising the power more quickly while the formal application is being approved. I am guessing Paris might be in the same boat.

Hi Dan,

I think your changes did the trick.

My Samsung TV now displays the CIII-HD call sign - it had not displayed it before.

I can watch Global with Windows Media Center on my Win7 x64 pc

Thanks for the hard work,
Bruce.

Update to post 113 - EIT/ETT is now present for Channel 41.1 in Toronto - 12 hours of "DTV Program" in 30 minute intervals.

Same here in Ottawa on 6.1. Not surprising, since I think Ottawa is a clone of Toronto, with the virtual and physical channels drop-inserted into the PSIP stream.
