Found some more articles and setting the Bios to Raid will put it into ahci as well. don't know want it cleared up before I buy a ssd drive.
RAID for SATA includes AHCI support.

Usually the choice is IDE vs AHCI (and create the RAID before installing windows), haven't seen RAID vs IDE as the choice in BIOS before :p

I suppose you could attempt installing with it in RAID mode, but just a single disk. If you don't get errors, then you're fine. Would also allow for future expansion to a RAID 1, 10, or 0+1 setup without needing to reformat/install.

I have a OCZ Vertex2 50GB ssd, 2.5 in, but it comes with a free adapter for 3.5 desktop. I installed it for my linux system and only using 26 GB. Boots in 25 sec (including typing in password). Software runs much faster.

I used the 3M sticky picture hangers to stick it to the bottom of my case :p

Nice! How long has it been hanging!

Mine is just in and I'll install it this weekend. It doesn't have a 3.5" adapter, but does have bottom mounting holes. My computer case case has a removable drive cage and if there aren't holes that match the screw holes, I will drill some to fit. But 3M stickies is another thought!

Been stuck to the bottom of the case for 3 years. I just removed it to replace with a larger one and let me tell you.......not easy! I was able to get it all off, no gunk stuck to it at all but it was no small feat prying it off the metal bed of the case.
