I just notice this today, Outlook failes to connect to the out going server...on BOTH of my laptops, so it can't be a virus or corruption on both. The 2nd laptop has not even been used for the last several days.
One is a Win7 O/S and the other XP/pro.
I googled the problemn and the most recent posts were a couple of years old??
Both PCs have the current updates, so I am really not sure what the issue is?
I also tried a Sys-restore, and deleted and added my e-mail acc. info, still did not fix the problem.
I can receive mail in Outlook with no problem.

Call up your internet provider and have them run through the Outlook setup with you. I used Outlook for years on Bell and one day my wife account stopped working. They had me change some of the connection setting from what had been working for years. It could be something as simple as that.
Someone a lot more computer literate than I am might give you some better advice.

Is this an e-mail account provided by your ISP or another provider? If it's the latter, your ISP may be blocking port 25 (as most do now). Try changing your port to 587 and see if that works.
If you are on Rogers, you may want to have a look at This thread (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=82728) as it may be relevant.

Thanks for the replies! Yes I am using Rogers Wireless. There is also another problem with the Rogers wireless "service", since it's a dynamic I.P. I have found a few Sites that the I.P. address is black-listed. I called Rogers and they said "they have never heard that before"...yeah..right! The did however, kindly offer to set me up with a private I.P. Address....for an additional cost!
I did try using 587, but that failed too. I'll have a look at the link that you provided BGY11...Thanks!!

I spoke to Rogers last week, and they confirmed that there was/is a problem with the smtp rogerswirelessdata.com. I am really surprised that there are not a lot more posts about this. Rogers told me that this issue had started on the 3rd of July. The guy told me that he was going to add my accoun to the list? But was unabler to give me an estimate as to when it would be fixed. He also said that many people were affected by this problem.
Does anyone have any new information?
