Before you yell at me, let me say/write this:

I've d/l'd an app that states:

Tuxera NTFS for Mac is a read/write fle system driver for the Windows file system NTFS.
Tuxera NTFS has been adapted to Mac OS X, and can be used with both Intel Macs and older PowerPC Macs. It can be run on Mac OS X versions 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.5 (Leopard), and 10.4 (Tiger).

But still can't see drive on desktop.

Disk Utilities - done
free 'mounting app' - done
Re-Started after install - done, twice.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

John

What version of OSX?

Do you just want to read an NTFS drive or do you want to read and write to it?

I had some trouble when I was using bootcamp on 10.6 and was using NTFS-3G in 10.6. Ultimately, I gave up on writing to the NTFS disk from OS X and just used the OS X native read ability.

Some more info would be helpful here. If everything is Ok physically the drive should mount read only in most versions of OS X without any additional drivers. I just pulled some Os 9 installers off of an IDE drive partition formatted as ntfs for AppleShare under w2k server and that drive hadn't been in a PC in years.

Does disk utility even identify the drive mechanism and the bus or chipset of the drive enclosure when you power it up? Do you hear the drive power up? If you don't see anything in disk utility, even if it doesn't mount on the desktop, this says physical problem to me.

What model of Mac? What level of Os? Ide or sata drive? Internal or external? If it's in an external case, USB, FireWire, esata? Old drive not used in years with an unknown number of partitions and possible disk managers like Ontrack, or newly formatted purchased drive? Could be something as simple as master/slave/cs jumper on an ide drive if you have it in an external case.

I hope this helps.
