I have the same issure as taxtwit, annoying that it happens so often.

OK, I had the problem taxwit and you have and now i don't have the problem. Or don't seem to.

I use to leave my 6100 on all the time and as you scrolled west for new shows the guide would soon have to download.

But my cat likes to sleep on the 6100 as it is warm. Been turning it off and the guide must download behind the scenes??? and I have to less download the guide it seems.

My 2 cents.. ( 2 cents american too ) not sure if this is a total fix but the 98% downloading seems to be not an issue now.

Hello All,

Did a quick search and couldn't find the answer...

I have a 9200 and am familiar with it's installation, however my dad may be getting a 6x00 and I've been trying to confirm what his cabling will look like...

Does the 6x00 require 2 or 4 cables into the multiswitch if he plans on have a 6x00 and a 4100? I think it's only 2 because the 6x00 isn't a dual tuner, but would like confirmation before we start running cables...

Also because he wants 2 receivers he needs a SW44 not a SW21 correct?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

I have a 6100 and a 3100 and have a SW21 and 2 cables running in.

6100 uses one and 3100 uses one.

As above, there would be no multiswitch required. You should install 2 x SW21's, each would have lines in from each LNBF and the out put of each would run to a receiver.

They are not powered so they can be mounted at the rear of the Dish with no issues.

If he already has a 4100 and NO channels from 82 degree's he would qualify for FREE installation.

hi..i got the 6120 deal at futureshop for 119 bucks. so far i like it. i also got a dvi to hdmi cable off ebay so the pic is nice. i opted for a dpptwin dish instead of the one it came with, and have yet to install a dpp44 switch to allow 4 rooms to have bell. will test that out later when i have more time....

anyway, one question: my guide is in 4:3 ratio, but i read that a fairly new firmware update allowed for it to be 16:9. is this true? or did somebody have their tv in stretch mode and get confused?

my guide is in 4:3 and although its a silly request, i want it in 16:9!

6100 only has guide in 4:3. I think the 9200 and 9242 have the guide in 16:9.

Does anyone know if you can hookup a 6100 to the SD Sat. 91 only and use the receiver to watch Sd channel only?
Or will it try to find Sat. 82 HD and cause problems in viewing?

The 6100 is fine when just being used as an SD receiver, lets face it, that is what it will be when Express Vu switch over to MPEG4 in the years ahead.

I just set up my 6100 for the upstairs LCD TV. I notice that the information banner has HD and SD indicator boxes. When I go to the HD 800 channels I notice that the information banner (banner that appears when you select or change channels for a couple of seconds) highlights the SD box. Should it not be the HD box. Is there something wrong etc.

Any help would be great.

I was hoping to get some help with an issue I've been having with my 6120. Here's the deal - it's on all the time, rarely do I turn it off. It's hooked up to a little LCD in my bedroom so we watch it fairly regularly (every night, or every other night).

Every night when I turn the TV on it works fine. The last channel we were watching is displayed on the screen (as we don't usually turn the reciever off). When I hit the "Guide" button though, I get a little box that pops up and says "Downloading Program Guide Information". I then sit for about a minute and a half while the download does it's thing. It finishes and populates the guide. Now here's the kicker....it doesn't matter what I do next (go to a new channel or stay where I am). If I close the guide I get prompted again the next time I hit the "guide" button -- "Downloading Program Guide Information".

I have to do this download every single night at least twice. AND, if I want to view something a few days ahead (say 45 hrs) I will need a new download again.

Why so many downloads?

Decrepit software/hardward basically. Read above posts - yours is just a variation of the "guide downloading issues" described in them. There is no real fix, other than turning off the 6100 every time you turn off the TV.

Greetings
I was wondering if there is any way I can set like a "native " option on the receiver so my TV can handle the HD proccess insteadof the 6120 handling the whole thing.
I just hate to watch up_converted SD prtogramns in poor HD picture, donm't you?

Thanx 4 any input.................John

(I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I've searched in vain so pls don't flame me)

Without getting into details, I need to send the output from a 6100 through the in-wall coax cables to another TV. Since the 6100 doesn't output to coax, is there a economic S-Video/RCA to coax adaptor out there that will allow me to do this? (And I know I will lose HD by doing this).

Any responses much appreciated.

One way we accomplished this in our old house was to feed the sat receiver's output to an old spare VCR and then the VCR's coax output to the wall.

As you need both audio and video; RF is the way.
Use a small Rf modulator with video and audio inputs.
