I have had to reset my 6100 once or twice in 4 months. Even that is too often for me. Just did it a couple of days ago. No picture like you. Likely a lock-up due to signal issues or errors. It's hard for me to believe that connecting to the same power bar as the TV could cause this problem!

The symptom is no picture at all.

I do get the guide, but the upper right corner remains a blank.

Also, when I select menu, the tabs show-up against a black background instead of the customary blue.

I have had my 6100 connected to a power bar with my TV, amp, dvd, pc & vcr with no problems at all. I did however add another satellite receiver(now have 3) & my 6100s had to be reset. I just had the guide with the upper corner being blank & no picture). I just went to the menu (I believe the # selections are 6-1-1), this should take you to the "check switch" option. I performed the check switch option & everything worked fine after that. I guess the receivers had to reset themselves.

Also, just the other evening as I was trying to setup my Harmony remote & all of a sudden my receiver's yellow light came on(instead of the blue one) & again I did not have any picture on the TV or in the guide. I called BEV & they told me to bring up the "guide", press the up arrow 2 times & then press "select". Lo & behold this worked. Got a picture & then selected other channels & all was OK. Not sure why this happened this time, but never had any problems like this in the past 1 & 1/2 years with my 6100. Hope this helps.

I had this exact same issue a couple of times before, but yesterday flipping back and fourth from OTA to Satelite this happened 4 times. I simply reset my receiver, but this is really inconvenient, as I will be going more to OTA in the future as more US OTA HD channels become available in my area.

Will the latest firmware correct this? And how do I check which firmware I have vs. the latest?

Press Menu, 6, 1, 3 (System Information).
It should be listed in there under software version. You can check it with the list posted in the current software versions thread.

Have you tried searching for the equivilant Dish Network (Echostar) hex codes? There might be users in the states that have created them for their receivers and even thought the model numbers differ, they are the same hardware.

HTH :)

I just got the Philips Pronto Pro TSU6000 and i need to set up my Bell ExpressVu 6120 receiver but cannot find the hex codes ANYWHERE!

Please help!!

I'm a newbie to the forum and have sifted through this thread as well as the 9200 thread with the diagrams, but can't find an answer to my question as I believe it may be more simple than some of the other scenarios out there. Anyways I recently activated a BEV dual LNB setup with 2 cables running to the house . Inside the house the two exterior cables enter a switch with two cables leaving, each feeding a seperate 4100. Each receiver has access to 82 and 91. Can I replace one of the 4100's with a 6100, activate it and have access to HD programming without any additional cabling?

Yes you can. That's how I hooked up my HD. No additional or different cable is needed. The 2 switches should have the 82 cables into the one switch and the 91 cables into the other. The cables should be labelled so that you can see the numbers (82 & 91) on the cables at the switch locations. :o

Setting up the 6120 package.

I've got 91 at about 83%... downloaded the software, etc.

When I hook up both LNBs, I still can see 91, but can't find 82 (says its on "Wrong Satellite .... BEV 91" I've played with the skew, but to no avail.

When I do the check switch option, it shows the 91 odd and even, but there are Xs in the other two boxes and it says the satellite is not connected....

When I switch the coax going into the switch box, then the 91 odd/even appears in the other two boxes and the remaining boxes have Xs.

I've tried switching the inputs on the 82 LNB, but no difference. I'm going to try different coax next.

My questions (aside from why it won't work):

1. Is this a switch problem, or more likely that I can't find 82

2. Do I have to alter my original skew number... I started with the skew (100.2) that I got from the KuSAT web site, but I had to drastically alter my elevation number (from 37 to almost 42 because my mast wasn't vertical.)

3. Does the "find sat 82" game involve both a skew and elevation change?

whew! Doesn't help that it's 5 degrees outside. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's your problem. Start by getting your mast plumb. It'll make your life so much easier.

Thank you, berner. I realize that would make my life a whole lot easier.

I have access to another dish unit and I'm thinking of using the second dish for 82, while keeping the one I've got locked in on 91. I've activated the receiver so we can get *something* with all the gold medal games coming up in the Olympics.

I was able to see 82 today, but only at 33-32 percent. Couldn't get any better than that and only locked in very briefly. Is the signal on 82 that weak? I'm hoping this upgrade and the related expense wasn't all for naught. I would have been happy with my old 2700, but maybe I got a little greedy looking for HD.

Has anyone had luck with using two separate dishes?

And when you're looking in the sky where is 82 in relation to 91?

thanks again

You can use two separate dishes. Standing behind the dish lookin south, 82 will be to the left and a bit lower in the sky. Your location will determine signal strength on 82. It seems to be a little weak around here. The best I can do is about 70. Other locations can get it as strong as 91.

Newbie to this site. Just purchased a Samsung Hi Def set. Recently received the the 6100 from BEV. Source suggested I buy a HDMI/DVI adaptor
to plug into my 6100 DVI port and then use the HDMI cable to plug both in.
Is this the way to go? Or should I just use DVI only and forget about HDMI.

any thought or suggestions?

It doesn't matter if you use DVI or HDMI - the digital video signal is the same. If you have both HDMI and DVI inputs on the TV, use whichever is convenient. HDMI can accept audio as well, but the DVI output used on the 6100 is video only.

Use DVI to DVI that way when you upgrade your DVD player it will probably be a HDMI connection.

6100 with firmware E559.

Trouble started around 2-3 weeks ago.

HD channels freezes for 2-3 seconds every 5-10 minutes?

Tried unplugging the power cord to reset the unit but still the same.

What to do next?

Note: No problem with SD channels.

Has anyone noticed that the SD zoom does not work properly with the latest firmware update (E559)? I tried it last night and the picture moves to the right edge of the screen with a large vertical black area along the left side of the screen. This happens with the Stretch, Partial Zoom and Full Zoom options. I haven't called BEV yet, just wanted to check with this forum if anyone has noticed this and is there a fix for it.

Thanks, John

This is a known issue for the latest firware, but apparently a factory default, followed by a front panel reset resolves the issue. but i have also heard this appears to be a temporary solution (any 1 with the issue resolved, pls correct me if thats not the case).
