I have the same problem as stated by musicman. I am aware of the procedure to force a download of the guide but it does not work. I have contacted Bell on this but they dont know.

Not sure if anybody's asked this question recently (a lot of postings to go through this past year), but have any of the firmware updates fixed the jumpy picture / skipped frames issue with these units?

(Check here (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5346) for details about this problem, as it also exists on other models.)

I don't think so. The skipped frames problem used to drive me nuts last summer when I first got the 6100. I wanted to through it out the window back then. Since then I haven't been noticing it as much. But I did see it happen a couple of times since taking the new software so I don't think that it's been fixed. I'll keep my eye open for it though.....

Just acquired 6120 and noticed dvi slot. my television has both hdmi and dvi slots as well, so do i want a dvi to dvi, or a hdmi to dvi??

Basically this
http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=2402

or this
http://www.monstercable.com/productPage.asp?pin=1867

i do get 60% off of retail, so dont look at the prices :o

I would say dvi to dvi but this isn't my area of expertise.

The HDMI interface simply combines DVI with the audio to create a "standard interface". The image from a DVI cable should be no different from the image on an HDMI cable as it is a physical layer issue - there is no protocol or image bruising taking place.

I would use whichever is easer to reach.

I just got my 6100 but I have not picked up HDMI cables yet. I noticed that at Best Buys the Monster cables are twice the price as another generic version. $199 vs $99. Is any difference between different brands of cables or are you just paying for the marketing of Monster. Is there any place to pick up the cables for cheaper?

Thanks

Hi, Basically, if your cable don't need to be long (3 to 6 feet) you won't notice a big difference between monster cable and other product, I got mine a Tigerdirect.ca 30$ to 40$ plus shipping (3 to 4 day delivery), mine was a DVI to HDMI cable.

DVI is pure digital, so the longer the cable runs, the better it needs to be in terms of shield protection. Monster cable have great sheild protection and will probably last longer but you'll easely last 15years with the one at 30 bucks!

So short distance = generic, more than 2meter = monster or better generic.

ps, You can also contact me if you wan't , i got a DVI to DVI cable that I can sell you, I'm from Quebec City in Quebec.

hope it helps.

Now that the 9220 system seems to be available, I am looking into getting a 6120 system. My question is (I think there is a difference now). What is included in the box. I recently spoke to a Bell rep and he said , as a current subscriber I can get the 6120 kit. But what (other than the dish) comes with it? Does it include a SW21 if so how many 1 or 2? LNB 1 or 2. And finally does it include an HDMI cable or just component?

Looking at the Futureshop website the 6120 can be had for $229.00. I don't know what the walk away price would be for an existing sub, so I called. I asked the sales person if I can get the complete system with the dish and he said NO. He said he would not be able to enter it into his computer. I then called Bell and the CSR said that I would have to buy the dish separately in an upgrade kit. I'm sure I read here that current subscribers can purchase 6120 system. My question is..does anyone have something that I can print and be able to show the salesperson at FS about this?

If you are not an existing HDTV customer then you are definitely allowed to buy a 6120 with the kit included. The salesperson is misinformed. Just go in and tell them to try and put it through the system even if they think it won't work. I had the same issue when I purchased my 6120. The FS salesperson kept insisting I had to get the stand alone receiver but I told him to put it through anyway. Lo and behold, it worked without any problem.

Remember, FS salespeople are even less knowledgeable about Bell's policies/products than Bell's CSRs. Believe it or not :)

I have a 6100 hooked up to a Sony HT series amplifier. I have tried for two months now to brogram the GD BEV remote to operate the volume on the amplifier. I have tried every code and procedure and none of them work. The remote works fine for the TV (SONY KV36HS510). Could this be a problem with the remote or is there something else going on? I would really like to resolve this because it is a real PITA having to grab for the Amp remote every time I want to change the volume.

Thanks and cheers

I went to my local FS yesterday, and I was able to purchase a
6120 system (dish included) for $229.00 plus tax. It came out to about $264.00. I installed the 6100 to my tv and then activated the reciever. I currently have only the 91 sat connected to it (as I have not installed the oval dish yet). I activated it so that when I install the dish this Saturday the HDTV channels should show up on my guide.

Thanks to supergenius for all your help

Well I have the whole thing installed. I installed the reciever when I got it Thursday night. On Saturday (early in the morning) I installed the dish. I chose early Saturday morning because the sun shines in the backyard around 1pm and it heats it up to about 40-50C. I wanted to slip the new dish assembly over my old dish arm that attatches to the anchor on the wall. I removed my old 20" non eliptical dish and soon after I removed it , it started to rain. ( this is because thier are other forces at work here ). I then tried to slide the new dish over the older support arm, but it would not fit. I guess the dish being exposed to direct sunlight over the years may have warped the support arm ever so slightly or (the forces were still at work ) I finally put the new arm on and was then able to connect the new dish (all the while it was lightly raining.) Once the dish was all hooked up it took a few minutes of tweaking to get both 91 and 82. I now have access to HDTV
I was watching a bit over the weekend and THIS is what NTSC should look like.

I tried to do this at BB this week. $268 + free 50 GC. Gave all my info to the salesperson and he entered the receiver # into prism and it said call bell CSR not allowed to add this. He then tried to sell me the 6100 for 298. No thanks.

Beleave me I checked this out.
If you don't currently subscibe to (and have) an HDTV reciever from Bell
you qualify to get a 6120 complete system. To find out for sure you can call
BEV and they will tell you if you qualify. I did the calling around thing and found out about this option.

Hey folks...

As of right now, I have a 3120 system installed (3100 and 2700 both hooked up to my dish)

What do I need to do/buy to switch to the 6100 and HDTV? Please go easy on me here... I'm a total BEV moron. I'm picking up a used 6120 package.

What should it have, and will I need to do much? I know I need to switch up the dish (and receiver, duh) but is there anything else I'll need to change up?

THanks!

Would like to know if you can set up the 6100 with a signal pass-through, bypassing the internal 1080i/720p converter. I would like to install an external video processor or scaler to do the conversion instead.

anyone have this happen, its becoming more frequent everyday.

not a big deal, just a pain in the butt.

Could it be someone else in the neighbourhood with a 6120?
