yeah serious conditions this AM. VHF is lit up too.

Couple new ones here.

WROL-HD VHF11 Toledo, OH
WTVG-HD VHF 13 Toledo, OH
WISE-HD UHF 18 Fort Wayne, IN
CIII-HD UHF 22 Stevenson, ON

TsReaderDumps (http://www.wuala.com/whosurbud/Documents/TsReaderDumps/Aug312011/) Including Several that I normally get
during enhanced conditions, as well as CFTO's VHF9

WROL-HD VHF 11 is an interesting one. May be causing some intermitttent
interference to some folks on the edge looking to get CHCH from Hamilton if it gets here with Tropo. Currently I can get either / or with just a bump of around 10 - 15 degrees or so with the rotor. i.e. Toledo & Hamilton may not be very far apart to be re-using a VHF Freq. Possibly even likewise with WTVG VHF 13 & Kitchener VHF 13?

Had WFFT from Fort Wayne also for a little while.

11 and 13 in Toledo are far enough from Kitchener and Hamilton that most times there is never an issue with them, but a few times a year CHCH-11 and CKCO-13 (the former analogs) would easily blow them away. This may happen in reverse now for you guys up there as WTOL,WTVG's ERP values are higher than CHCH,CKCO's.

WTOL-11 goes off the air every Sat and Sun morning from ~2:05am to just before 6am. Tried for the new CHCH-DT at these times over the last few weeks but nada so far.

----
As for tropo early today.. not much. More losing channels than gaining. A couple from Buffalo RF33,38 and WJET Erie. Brief WBDT-26,WDTN-50 from Dayton. WSMH Flint on RF16 when local CTV2 ch16 went down for flash cut.

I mentioned last night that I was getting an audio-only sub-channel that appeared to be linked to WXXI. I couldn't find out much about it on the web from WXXI's website, but I found this:

http://gallery.bostonradio.org/2004-09/nrcbatavia/100-02365-med.html

"This is WXXI-TV's brand new digital television transmitter, operating on channel 16 from Pinnacle Hill. In addition to its primary function, a hidden subchannel serves as an STL for WXXI relay WJSL"

WXXI operates on digital channel 21 (rf 16) from Rochester NY. Distance from me is 185 miles almost exactly due-east. The audio STL (?) is on 16.7 (which is strange, since the transmitter's virtual / digital channel is 21).

7:15 pm: Antenna pointed 225 degrees - directly at Leamington, and as it turns out, the transmitter for WBGU 27-1/2/3 (WBGU rf 27) PBS out of Bowling Green OH, which is coming in with 4 bars. 188 miles away?

Also getting CFTV (rf 34) - a low-power community channel. A little fuzzy, but very watchable.

8:30 pm: Bowling green and CFTV are gone, but Detroit and Cleveland look like they're coming in (need to go and turn the mast and see what's coming in now). I don't know about you, but I could listen to the never-ending music of the WKYC weather channel for hours. Not quite as mesmerizing as when WXYZ had a dedicated weather channel (I have an hour of that music recorded on CD). Oh, also now getting WGGN (God's Good News).

I was thinking the exact same thing about WKYC 3-2 just two hours ago!

Cleveland has been booming in a lot this summer, as has WBGU Bowling Green.

CIII-22 is actually weaker than normal- it's either another 22 trying to stomp it or they are working on the tower, or something else... I don't know.

CFTV is an occasional catch for me.

I'd blame co channel for problems tonight. Right now I have WKBW RF38 on here with good signal. Also see CH57 analog off the CN Tower.

Seeing new co-channel on 29 from Sarnia/Oil Springs. Is this CBC low pwr in Kitchener?

CBC 29 Kitchener/Paris analog is a full power station. CBC Francais Kitchener is a low-power station (as of today) on ch 61.

Generally a good night all around. I was even getting WUAB (1 bar) which I've never gotten before. Nothing from Akron, but 3 stations from Detroit.

WQLN is back on the air.

New stations:
WBNX 55-1/2 (rf 30) Cleveland 3 bars
CITS 36-1 (rf ?) location unknown (Toronto area?)
CHWI 16-1 (rf ?) 5 bars
CKCO 13-1 (not reliably)

Some analog station on rf 63 that I think is PBS. Antenna pointed in the direction of Youngstown. Anyone know what that is?

Analog rf 57 (city) coming in very good. I take it this is directly from the CN tower. Do they intend to keep that as analog, or will it switch to digital?

Where is rf 8 (CTV), rf 45 and rf 34 (cbc?) located?

CHWI was coming in strong (5 bars) but I was hearing audio problems (stuttering).

Does anyone know why CHWI and CFPL are still shooting their live newscasts with regular def (480 line) cameras? Looks awful on a 1080i broadcast.

Picked up 27.1 WBGU from Bowling Green, OH tonight (replaces WLNS from Lansing, MI as my most distant station received).

Also picked up at various times tonight:
- 9.1 CFTO from Toronto
- 11.1 CHCH from Hamilton (first time since switch from 18.1)
- 36.1 CITS from Hamilton
- 2.1 WGRZ from Buffalo
- 4.1 WIVB from Buffalo
- 7.1 WKBW from Buffalo
- 23.1 WNLO from Buffalo
- 49.1 WNYO from Buffalo
- 51.1 WPXJ from Batavia, NY
- 26.1 WNYB from Jamestown, NY
- 12.1 WICU from Erie
- 54.1 WQLN from Erie
- 66.1 WFXP from Erie

sumguy99, RF8 (CFPL re-broadcaster) and RF45 (CBC) are from Wingham, Ontario.

Thanks for the "head's up" regarding Bowling Green channel 27! I only manage to catch this one a handful of times per year...

CITS 36-1 (rf ?) location unknown (Toronto area?)

Hamilton.

CHWI 16-1 (rf ?) 5 bars

RF 16. Wheatley.

Some analog station on rf 63 that I think is PBS. Antenna pointed in the direction of Youngstown. Anyone know what that is?

Translator for WVIZ in Cleveland, it's on the lake shore between Cleveland and Erie.

Analog rf 57 (city) coming in very good. I take it this is directly from the CN tower. Do they intend to keep that as analog, or will it switch to digital?

Should already be gone.

CHWI was coming in strong (5 bars) but I was hearing audio problems (stuttering).

There have been sporadic problems reported with the CHWI signals.

Does anyone know why CHWI and CFPL are still shooting their live newscasts with regular def (480 line) cameras? Looks awful on a 1080i broadcast.

Probably hasn't been upgraded.

Heh. And I've yet to receive WVIZ.

Tropo starting up good already. Getting WICU,WJET from Erie real good while CIII-22 is taking a big hit from WFXP.

Logged a new digital:
CJMT-DT 20-1 RF20 OMNI2 London

Ugh.. and then there's the London CBC CH23 analog. This thing is actually coming in watchable with clear sound and in colour! It is strong enough now to actually take a noticeable chunk out of WVPX.

Ugh.. and then there's the London CBC CH23 analog.
Yah I can say good bye to ION 23-1 Akron now.......:( I'm so sad that this analog crap is still around.

Good news:
with CBC vacating RF40, I finally get 38-1 WADL very good compared to when RF40 was strong.

WADL 38.1-.3 should come in better than the Detroit stations since it is more north in Mt.Clemens.Keep that sweet spot for WADL, cause oct1 Antenna TV debuts on 38.2 with classic tv.I can't wait.We lost RTV but are gaining a better channel with Antenna TV.:p

Ouch. Major co-channel here. WXYZ has been destroyed by CIII-41 digital. Bunch of others way off normal or gone too.

On the flip side, picked up that weak 3kw CKXT-66, Global 6-1 from Paris at near 80%, and another new one OMNI 1 from the FCP building on RF 47. (http://i730.photobucket.com/albums/ww305/dxandmore/TV_DXing/CFMT-DT_OMNI1_RF47_TorontoFCP_ON_19604mi-3155km.jpg) 196.04 mi - 315.5 km

Indeed Phil, I can confirm reception of a few Toronto stations from here in London as of 7:00AM
25-1 CBLFT-DT RF25 100%
44-1 CIII-HD RF41 50%
47-1 OMNI1 RF47 40%
57-1 City HD RF44 40%

@Jase, I always thought you got the Erie's. That will be good to an already impressive line up for Cambridge, On. Your on par with our friend down in Dunnville.

27-2 is a WKBN sub channel for Youngstown on RF41, both are 720p
27-1 CBS, 27-1 FOX

Much like you Jase, since the transition I am receiving a few trouble stations more now

23-1 WNLO-HD CW RF32 Buffalo I used to barely get it pre transition
38-1 WADL IND RF39 Mt Clemens as channel 40 CBC analog always interfered with adjacent RF39
with that in mind RF41 now has better signal qualities.

Phil81 - you're in Leamington and CIII is "destroying" WXYZ ?!

As of 9 this am, I'm just barely picking up CIII with 1 bar - and like you it's well in the opposite direction of WXYZ.

Conditions seem somewhat variable at this time:

25-1 CBLFT 6 bars
41-1 CIII 1 bar
66-1 CKXT 2 bars
rf 27 (fair)
17 WNED 6 bars
23 WNLO 7 bars
2 WGRZ 10 bars
4 WIVB 5 bars
7 WKBW 8 bars
26 WNYB (strong - but who cares?)
24 WJET 5 bars
66 WFXP 4 bars
27 WKBN 5 bars
33 WYTV 10 bars
45 WNEO 3 bars
Nothing from Akron
61 WQHS 4 bars

I haven't scanned any further west than Cleveland yet. Cleveland itself was coming in poorly - I'll have to try again.

Jase88 - WSEE? Really? I think I've gotten that only once in the past 2 weeks.

And this is strange. Regardless if I punch in 32 or 23 into TV's remote, I get WNLO (RF 32, virtual 23). I would have thought I'd get WPXJ (ION) on rf 23 with Buffalo coming in so strong, but maybe there's too much interference with CBC's sad decision to change from 40 to 23.

For my yagi, I wire-tied a sheet of 1/4 inch mesh to the back side of the rods of the corner reflector. This sheet is a good inch taller/wider than the rods. I would have thought I'd improve the front-back separation by doing that. Next I'll try running a ground wire from the antenna to a water pipe (I have plastic mast).

edit: 10:30 am

Buffalo is super strong right now, but most everything else is dead. My TV is picking up the call-signs for many Detroit and Cleveland stations but not strong enough to show a picture. I am getting 3 bars for WGGN, and WNYB is still there.

Buffalo:
WNED 6 bars
WNLO 9 bars
WPXJ (ION) - gone, never to be seen again because of CBC
WGRZ 10 bars
WKBW 10 bars
WNYO 7 bars

I was getting CHWI with 1 bar.

Not a milestone for many, but WLNS on RF 36 from Lansing came in on my CM 4228 last night. Of course I had it hooked up indoors, so it was odd to see it as I almost never see any tropo stations.
