Ever go to a Tim Horton's store, and find the cupboards really bare?

No doughnuts and no timbits ? Or very minimal selection, almost nothing?

I thought Tim Horton's was supposed to be a Doughnut Shop ?

What is going on?

It's happened a few too many times now.

They say: "Sorry Sir, we don't have a Baker on right now."
(no one even seemed to care or give a hoot ...)

Well don't they have, say in a large city like, example, OTTAWA, a way to re-supply an empty store?

One central bake site to make doughnuts and re-supply the numerous local franchise stores?

Anyone wanna share their experiences with this ? Related issues?

Now they just pop them from the freezer into the oven. So you would think they would have more "reheaters" trained and a bigger freezer. I think the term "baker" is overkill. :)

My batting average is about 0.500. Call me old-fashioned but I like "old-fashioned plain" non-sugared donuts. They don't seem to keep many of those on hand. I visit a Tim's once a month or less.

They say: "Sorry Sir, we don't have a Baker on right now."

At least you found someone to talk to. A couple of years ago, I stopped by a Tim's in Orillia and there was no one there! This occurred at about 11 AM on a Sunday morning.

BTW, last year, I stopped in at a Subway sandwich store, across the street from my home, and found they didn't have any bread! Again this was on a Sunday morning and apparently whoever worked the night before, didn't make up the dough etc.

yes...quality has really dropped since going to all frozen centrally made products. The prices keep going up and quality going down...no one seems to notice.

Sounds like my last visit to Blacks for a passport photo: "Sorry we can't take your picture, we are out of film"!:o

... until you pull into a gas station some morning and there are signs on all the pumps, "sorry, no gas". It happened in 1973 during the first "gas crisis" and with the way things are going in the middle east etc. it will likely happen again. But there may be donuts in the "On The Run" at Esso. sailmaker

On a related note, I went to the local Subway sub shop for dinner last night and they were out of bread! Only flat bread left.

Holy Tims! All the various stories.

At a Blacks Camera once, in the 1990's, I had 35mm film developed. They had the pictures - but lost all the negatives!

They did an investigation - and never found anything.

And all they said was "Sorry Bud, you're out of luck."

Lucky it was not any really important photos for me ... but still ...

Another one ...

I like Wendy's Burgers sometimes... but now you see a sign:
"If you want tomatoes - you must ask for them."

Something about a weather freeze where they get their tomatoes, and not able to supply them - well I see quite a few tomatoes in the grocery store ... hmmm.

Another one ...

Ever try to find a washroom sometimes when you are out?
At a Mall?

Sometimes the side of the road is the only option.

I really wonder what is becoming of things sometimes.

Best learn to take care of yourself - I think - not rely too much on "what's out there" - have some "back ups" and "redundantcy" and "alternate plans".

Thanks all - keep the stories coming - very interesting.

I already stockpile some gasoline - transportation's very important y'know.

Perhaps I should begin to expand my gasoline stockpiling operation. Never nnnknow!

Get it at a good price, best quality gas, at one particular gas station, and location on Thursdays - and stockpile in safe location - refilling vehicle with stored supplies ... until it's time again to make a major purchase and haul.

Price is too high inside the major cities - so I get it "en masse", "en route", during my regular travels.

CASH is another item that it is good to have always on hand - in enough quantity in case all goes down.

CASH tends to give you the ability to get most anything you might need.

and yes ... credit cards have their special uses.

But be very careful out there ... whatever you do ...

Plan carefully ...

P.S.

oh ya... ESSO "On the Run"

or what I call it: "On the Run" "Got the Runs!"

Soon - Can get Coffee and Doughnuts at the ESSO "On the Run/Got the Runs" Store - but no GAS.
But when you've Got the Runs, from the food at "On the Run" ... no washroom to be found.

One of my theories: You never find something where you usually think it might be found / where it usually is found.

... gotta run now.

Back in the day (20+ years ago) I remember stopping at a Tim Horton's one early morning and they didn't have any donuts or muffins because they were still baking. That was back when the shops made their own, on site.

I don't think I've ever seen a Timmies in recent times without some kind of baked good on the shelf. That's the beauty of reheating!

Our local KFC a while back ran out of chicken. That's bad.

No doughnuts and no timbits ?

Reminds me a bit of the "No more Whopper" ad campaign Burger King used to have :)

I remember this. We went and got a few burgers at the local Wendy's drive thru and they had signs (to some extent) saying that no tomatoes were available. This was rather perplexing for many around here, since we are in "The tomato capital of Canada".

One thing that needs to be realize is that Wendy's supplier is not local and they all have the same supplier and they have a contract with the supplier and can't use anyone else.

This happened to Burger King a couple years ago here.

I've seen it happen on occasion with Subway too. Not nearly as often as Wendy's though.

My Tim Horton's is one of the worst I've seen. They usually have ok selection during the day but just past supper time is when it gets pretty scarce. My biggest beef with them though is their inability to make the sandwich I order correctly. There's alway something wrong with my sandwich. Either they are out of whole wheat buns and/or the large size buns altogether. But when they actually have the buns in the kind and/or size I want, they never get it right. I'll ask for Turkey Bacon, I'll get a Chicken Salad sandwich instead. Just incredible.

One morning I asked if I could get a Tim's breakfast sandwich on brown toasts instead of bagle or their biscuit and the owner came out and said: Sorry sir, we cannot do that. My staff is having enough problems getting things right in the first place, I just cannot confuse them more then they are now. I thought it was rather rude from the owner's part but after so many unsuccessful attempts at getting a sandwich right, sadly, he was right after all...

I also used to have some problems at the McDonald's near my house but they have gotten better... or maybe it has to do with the fact that I don't eat there anymore...

TH does have the market cornered on incorrect orders. I always order apple slices in stead of fries with Happy meals. Only once have they gotten it correct. I used to say oh I ordered apple slices instead I got fries.

But messed up TH sandwich orders can sometimes become an epic adventure in frustration.

I like Wendy's - "Dave's" - yes - better burgers ... and will continue to go there ... I like the Wendy's restaurant concept.

But when you ask for a baked potato instead of fries, and the reply is "Sorry we do not have any left".

O.K. ... I comprehend ...the baked potato is a limited item at Wendy's - but doesn't that just IRK you when that happens? "Sorry Sir . . ."
