: Sportsnet Picks up ATP Tennis
Andrew1 2011-03-13, 06:35 PM Before I complain to Bell or Sportsnet, will anyone with Rogers or Shaw let me know what their daily schedules are showing.
I have Shaw (satellite). Tennis isn't listed at all for today.
scrubby 2011-03-13, 10:34 PM Raonic and Fish are warming up right now (10:30 pm EDT) per live streaming but Sportsnet is showing Federer right now and I imagine they will show the Djokovic match next and then show Raonic/Fish after that, hopefully in its entirety since the are showing very little live, most of it is tape.
aeroplane 2011-03-13, 11:53 PM Yah TV is taped matches. Thank god for my otehr provider and I guess LIVE streaming
khanazam 2011-03-13, 11:57 PM guys wheres the live streaming? is it somewhere on the sportsnet website because i cant find it
NB Josh 2011-03-14, 12:07 AM I guess what they decided to do is show the full day of action from 4:00pm ET, even though it began two hours earlier. So, everything is on a 2-hour delay.
Tomorrow Sportsnet Pacific has live coverage beginning at 2pm in the afternoon. At least what Sportsnet is doing is a million times better than what TSN did, air 2 hours a day, usually on tape and usually cutting out parts of the match.
aeroplane 2011-03-14, 12:08 AM I was trying to find it as well as back up BUT their site is a mess and as you say Nowhere on the site is their a link for streaming.
Inflammatory posts removed after several complaints.
khanazam 2011-03-15, 04:11 PM im looking at sportsnet's schedule and theres no live tennis tomorrow? does that mean they wont be showing a possible federer raonic match?
alebowgm 2011-03-15, 05:26 PM It depends what time the match would be for... they cant bump UEFA off of the Regionals during the day... MAYBE they can bump PTS but McCown has said the show won't get bumped on Sportsnet One. If the match winds up being later, they could probably put it on Sportsnet One since the Regionals have NHL and MLB commitments.
will be interesting to see how it plays out
NB Josh 2011-03-15, 05:41 PM PTS is bumped off One today for tennis, and again on Thursday I think. I have no clue why Sportsnet doesn't have tennis tomorrow, seems odd to me.
Andrew1 2011-03-15, 08:24 PM im looking at sportsnet's schedule and theres no live tennis tomorrow? does that mean they wont be showing a possible federer raonic match?
Maybe the schedule wasn't updated when you posted or you weren't looking at Sportsnet One but now it says ATP: BNP Paribas Open from 2pm EST tomorrow (Wednesday) to 10pm when McCown comes on.
alebowgm 2011-03-15, 09:46 PM Yep looks like McCown got bumped, and that they will take the 5-6pm portion of show to air on replay later in the day across the network.
JackR 2011-03-18, 12:55 PM I'm grateful for any additional tennis coverage. Also great to learn that sportsnet streams additional hours of tennis over the web. Pretty good resolution and I imagine over time that will get better. That may be the future.
I was down in Florida during spring break and experienced The Tennis Channel. Wow, close to 24/7 tennis. If there's nothing going on live, they show matches from previous years of the same tournament, classic matches, programs with tennis tips, travel programs showing tennis in various locations around the world. Even a lot of the commercials are tennis related.
Wish it was available in Canada (although my wife and kids are probably happy it's not). ;)
scrubby 2011-03-22, 03:36 AM In Miami, Raonic has a bye for the 1st round and will be playing 2nd round on Friday March 25 but Sportsnet isn't showing any broadcasts until the Quarter Finals on Wed March 30.
NB Josh 2011-03-22, 03:53 PM Sportsnet has changed their schedule for Miami too. They will have coverage beginning in the 2nd round. Coverage still won't start until 11:00am ET on Saturday March 27 though.
alebowgm 2011-03-22, 04:31 PM My guess on the reason the Sportsnet schedule keeps changing the way it does is, its probably contractually obligated to air certain tournaments starting in certain rounds, so those are always set in stone in the schedule, and then it has the option to pickup coverage of earlier rounds should they be able to fit it into the schedule. I can't see any other reason why many of the rounds for these tournaments would at first not be listed and then they suddenly appear.
scrubby 2011-03-23, 01:06 AM I still don't see anything on Sportsnet's website until Wed March 30.
Where are you getting the info that they will broadcast earlier?
NB Josh 2011-03-23, 11:07 AM The Sportsnet Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/RogersSportsnet)
Tennis fans, our coverage of the #SEOpen has expanded. We have added round 2 action on March 26 & 27 on ONE. Coverage begins @ 11 am et
scrubby 2011-03-23, 11:28 AM Thanks NB Josh.
Since Raonic is playing Friday, round 2 being Fri-Sat March 25 & 26, hopefully they got their dates mixed up and will show Friday.
scrubby 2011-03-25, 12:38 AM Raonic plays his first Miami match Friday March 25 at 11 AM EDT and there does not appear to be any live tv coverage anywhere.
