My daughter has a 50 inch Samsung circa. 2008. She got it second hand and the manual did not come with it. I noticed a few days ago that the format is set to give full screen with 4:3 and that HD is also like this. What do you press on the remote to bring it back to normal screen? I have Bell but when you select full screen (partial zoom) on 4:3, HD remains normal i.e. it is not partial zoom.
Thanks,
Robin

You can toggle through the formats with a Bell Remote by pressing the "*" key.

You might be able to download the manual from the Samsung site (www.samsung.com).
With the * key on the BTV remote it will remember the stretch modes for the SD and HD channels separately. I usually recommend watching 4:3 as 4:3 and 16:9 as 16:9 for the best picture quality and no distortion.

Of course you need to ensure that the TV is not "fighting" the stretch modes on the BTV STB - that button on the TV remote may be labelled stretch, aspect, etc.

Thanks for help so far but I 'misled' a bit. I have BEV but my daughter has Cogeco and it is how to change the format, first using tv remote then using Cogeco remote. Maybe the latter does not offer this?
Thanks
Press the # button on the Cogeco remote repeatedly to cycle through the various stretch modes. You should probably be on "normal". It doesn't remember the stretch mode for SD and HD separately. Depending on the STB, there may be a 4:3 override setting to stretch SD if desired. TV remote should have a stretch button as I mentioned in my previous post. Don't remember what it's called on the TV remote but shouldn't be too difficult to figure out which one it is.
