Is CIVI DT 17 broadcasting from Mt. Seymour at this time? I don't get anything when I put it in.

I don't have my NTSC tuner running now - what is the status of Global analogue on VHF-HI channel 8?

BTW several posts about reception on the Island are now in the following thread: BC - Victoria, The Island, Sunshine Coast, BC Interior, BC North - OTA (https://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=68445)

Please keep this present thread clear for just station status reports and updates.

Stampeder, Global analog is still on and what's up with CBC's digital channel? What's up with those lines on the screen?

It's a shame really looking at these other stations.. what the heck is CBC doing? They should be the first ones to have done the switch at 12:00 a.m. today but CTV did that. And now reading the posts that the transition may be postponed to early morning hours of tomorrow and the channel broadcasting in 720p is just senseless. This is supposed to be our public national broadcaster. Lame excuses. Blah blah blah. So glad I watch all of my shows on CTV and just hockey on CBC.

I don't have any words for Global with their lack of interest in this transition. Worthless.

Pretty sure CHEK still has their analog up and running. I can still get 87.7 clearly on my FM radio.

CHEK-DT (6.1) has no audio for me. using WinTV (PC tuner card) I have audio for CHEK-DT, at least I did 10 min ago.

So CHEK analogue on 6 and CHAN analogue on 8 are still up it would seem.

Check earlier in the thread for some posts about all the work going on with CBC/SRC today and tonight.

A CBC account tweeted this:

#CBC is making the switch to #digital at 23:59:59 today. To learn more about the transition to #DTV go to cbc.radio-canada.ca/dtv/

Overall the conversion has been fantastic, but a couple of developments today have tempered my enthusiam a bit, and made it more of a mixed bag

1. CHEK DT only 4:3 SD. Huh no 16:9 1080i, are they reserving that for BDU subscribers only? I already received a very watchable anlog 6 so standard def digital is only small improvement. If 4:3 SD is all she wrote, then CHEK will remain the little 2nd (or 3rd) tier station from Vancouver Island. CHEK is showing a lot of NBA basketball so the 1080i HD would have looked amazing,

2. CBC and CBUFT in 720p? Will resevere final judgement as 720p can look great for sports.

3. CTV and CTV2. Kudos great job, love the onscreen program info and time

According to Rob Germain, the news director of CHEK, HD is coming in the near future. Considering that the station was going to go off air two years ago, I would say that they have come a long way since then.
After 55 years of broadcasting in analog, CHEK goes digital today. Flipping the switch on our transmitter soon. HD coming in next.

Good to hear thanks. It just would have been a shame to not show all their new content in highest format.

I just scanned in CHNM-DT on 29.1 and CKVU-DT on 27.1 in victoria.

cool, 27.1 and 29.1 coming in strong on the malahat as well.

I'm not getting chek on 49 at all though :( tvfool said I wasn't going to get it once it switched to digital but I figured it but be a mistake, guess not. So my strongest analog station is now gone for me.

My hdhr is still reporting 90% signal strength on rf 6 and 100% on rf 10 (no digital signal so it must be analog), hasn't chek and ckvu shut off their analog transmitters yet?

ya I read that it was shut off, I was just wondering why I was still picking up some sort of signal with my hdhr, perhaps the transmitter is on but transmitting garbage? same goes with rf 10 which is pegged at 100% signal strength still.mrplow@mythtv-server:~$ hdhomerun_config FFFFFFFF scan 0

But your HDHR's readout also shows high signal levels on channels that have not existed for years. ;) We can discuss it elsewhere if it keeps happening or if someone with different gear also sees it.
