One thing I don't think WGRZ realized is that the had a market here around the Golden Horseshoe and GTA that watched the Retro Network. Very few of us receive WBBZ, so it will be a loss for some of us. By the way, the announcement was made about a month ago.

May have to throw up my FTA dish to get RTV again.

It was gone at dinner time tonight.

US was on 2-2 and 2-3.

Apparently WHEC's (Rochester 10.1) addition of ME-TV has been delayed until near the end of September. The ME website has it listed as 10.2, so I guess the weather sub-channel will be ceasing operations.

I noticed that WGRZ 2.3 is still alive and now showing a duplicate of US sports. I wonder if WGRZ is keeping 2.3 alive and will decide to go with BounceTV?

Apparently WBBZ will apply to increase it's contour; what are the chances that other Buffalo stations will also? For example, WUTV had to go with a directional signal when they went digital 14.1, but it would nice to :eek:see an omni signal now...

Well, WJET Erie PA. 24.1 has now resumed it's original contour north since Sept 1st. since the CBLFT vacated the 24RF channel. So hopefully, now WNGS[WBBZ] original erp will now come back into play. I don't believe that ch7rf would be protected anymore since the transition.

WGRZ is going to drop RTV on 2-3 on Sept. 16th, I suspect their contract to carry RTV is up then. Here is article on it. http://stilltalkintv.com/2011/08/wbbz-shift-leads-to-channel-2-changes/
I doubt it is costing WGRZ any money to carry RTV, however Time Warner Cable and satellite providers refuse to carry the sub-channel (only Verizon Fios, carries it), so WGRZ is unable to sell any local advertising for the channel. WBBZ has talked about increasing their power level, but so far I have seen no application show up on the FCC web site, and it has been taking the FCC a good two years to approve some applications, so I wouldn't hold my breath. If you really want to see RTV stay on WGRZ 2-3 you should contact WGRZ via their web site www.wgrz.com it might not make a difference, but it can't hurt.

WBBZ is doable in a lot of locations. You just need to go with the right antenna, and mount it outside. Some people on this forum get it reliably in Toronto.

That's a really dumb excuse. Their removing it for business reasons.
Yes business reasons - the picture on Universal Sports looks miserable so they need some more bits to make an improvement. More people watch sports than retro TV.

17.3 PBS Buffalo appears to be showing World instead of Create now....Hope they're going to get rid of their SD simulcast on 17-2 as well...Put Create there please!

I've never seen CREATE on WNED 17.3 PBS Buffalo!

Erie's WQLN channel has CREATE on 54.2,... if you can get Erie channels.

I agree,.. it's time for WNED to move ahead into the future and let go of the CRT Television age and put something useful on 17.2

WNED has inegrated World programming into ThinkBright, but not the entire World schedule. For example, they do not show the 10PM rerun of the PBS News Hour.

If I'm not mistaken, WNED 17.3 had Thinkbright half the time and Create for the other half. Never understood why each couldn't have it's own sub-channel.

At this point though, is it totally World, or is it a 3-way share, or a 2 way share with World replacing the Thinkbright half of the schedule?

The schedule I saw for 17-3 had World + ThinkBright.

Read the news of WNED and had a look... still duplicating their main feed as SD, I see.
What a waste of bandwidth.. use that to bring in a third channel like every other PBS in the area. Then you wouldn't need to merge programming to make it fit.

This is Buffalo you're talking about. If it makes sense, we don't do it.
