Anyone else having issues with WKBW today? Keeps breaking up...

Having problems with NBC,CBS,ABC and Fox. Don't know if it is atmospheric or my equipment but it has been on going, though not to this extreme, for 3 to 4 months now.

Don't know what's going on, but this certainly sucks. WKBW is my number one US station...it has always been the most reliable to me...maybe that earthquake affected it somehow. Maybe I'll right in to them. My signal used to be up in the mid 20dB (25 to 26dB). Currently my TV is showing a dismal 14.5dB.

Does anyone have WKBW's email? I've looked quickly on their website, but haven't been able to find a contact number or email.

*EDIT*
Well I sent something through the "MyLocalLookup" link on their website. Hopefully will hear something back.

I am having the same problem with WKBW breaking up, but I live in the opposite direction in Wellsville, NY. I suspect it is related to weather fronts not WKBW's site. But here is the contact information found on WKBW's web site.

Gees Chips, kudos to you for finding it. Never thought about clicking on the little link that says "Inside WKBW" Gees

WKBW is usually a flame thrower.

Something happened around noon yesterday and when they came back on-air, the signal had dropped from a booming 100+ to only 30%. I have a suspicion that they are doing antenna/tower/guywire maintenance and they are either using a backup antenna, or they had to reduce the main broadcast power to protect the tower workers.

Hopefully it won't go the same as WIVB. I had great reception of that one until they did some repairs/maintenance last year...it has never been the same since.

WKBW is a little weaker for me, but still working as it should. It's always been one of the best.

Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic about the Canadian transition. Right now I'm getting CBLT analog 5 with some 30 year old rabbit ears, but I don't think the digital signals are going to get in the house. The UHF analog stations come in, but nowhere near as well as CBLT. I'm wondering if anyone knows the name of a good antenna installer. I'd have to talk it over with my dad, but we've all been wanting Hockey Night in Canada in HD for a while. I can go into more details if needed.

Thanks.

(My apologies if I shouldn't have posted this here, but I couldn't find a more appropriate place)

Your welcome Marbles, I had a hard time finding their contact page when I went looking the first time. It look to me that WKBW went completely off the air yesterday, before I left for work. When a station powers down I always see some signal (not enough for a picture), but WKBW was completely gone. So perhaps they were doing some work on their transmitter site.

A little after the fact, since WKBW is back at full strength, but I received an email reply from the Station Manager. Below is the main contents

We had a transimitter issue that hopefully should have been repaired yesterday afternoon. We had to reduce power to avoid tripping the whole system while waiting for the part. Thanks for watching!

One can really appreciate and respect these guys when they are open and reply to your concerns. Kudos to WKBW...

Maybe I'm late to the game, but I just noticed WNED-DT3 (17.3) seems to have switched from PBS ThinkBright to PBS World.

Good catch, DavidT! This must be very recent. I wonder if this is simply a name change, or represents a change in programming? I'll need to do some research....

Looks like they're integrating World programming into ThinkBright. According to the schedule, they're covering up the 10PM rerun of the PBS Newshour, for example.

I just noticed that WROC now has an 8.2 with color bars. The PSIP says its something called BOUNCE Tv.

New TV subchannel aimed at African-Americans. It sounds good. It was discussed recently in the US DTV subchannels thread.

Hi everyone!
I just read on WGRZ web site they are turning off RTN 2-3 to give more
bandwith to Universal Sport channel 2-2?

Is it true?

No more I Spy,Adam 12 or Kojak :(

That's a really dumb excuse. Their removing it for business reasons.

If you read it on their own website, chances are good that it's true.

The decision has to do with the addition of MeTV to WBBZ. The two channels (RTN & MeTV) offer similar programming, and the market was deemed not large enough to accommodate both stations.

Nuts. I barely watched RTV, but I watched Universal Sports even less lol
