The live in-studio stuff looked like good quality HD, but some of the footage looked wide-screen SD. I noticed their commercials were all SD. I'm not counting on their syndicated programming being in HD yet, but I guess after they outsource in October that will change.

Reminiscent of Global TV News Toronto's conversion to HD: In that the studio shots are HD, but most/all remotes are still SD.

In the last few days I've had an interesting occurrence at my location. I've been recieving WNYB rock solid without interruption. This is unusual because it's always been a tropo station for me. Has anyone on the fringe of that station noticed some improvement in the reception. I'm seeing an improved SNR moreso than higher signal strength. I'm in the Stouffville area.

Good for me at night all summer long. Much more than last year. Night tropo?

Not getting any signal in downtown toronto and mississauga though it seems that WGRZ has a higher signal for me at the moment but not sure if that's just the skip playing with me

Yep, I noticed WNED was dead on Verizon FiOS, checked the antenna, and it looks like WNED and WNLO are dead to the world. I think they're on the same tower, so I'd assume maintenance.

Just check...they are working fine on my end.

They were off the air overnight during the last 2 days for a few hours. I assume they were doing some sort of tower maintenance.

Thanks to all the Americans on this site for comfiming WNLO and WNED were dead even on WNY OTA and cable. Relieved all my concerns that it was something to do with my gear or, worse yet, TVO-DT overpowering the signal somehow.

Just for the record, WNLO and WNED are down again this morning.

I don't ever recall this much maintenance. Any ideas?

EDIT: I checked the FCC site and there doesn't seem to be any pending apps for any special work to be done.

I sent WNED an email. Maybe they will explain the downtime.

we've been off the air for scheduled maintenance and upgrade to
the transmitter. The chief engineer expects the work to be complete over
the weekend, if the weather cooperates. I can't tell you how many calls
and letters we've had about been off!

WNED is only going to be shutting down between the midnight to dawn hours for maintenance purposes over the next few days. Note that this also shuts down WNLO-CW23 whenever the tower is involved with this maintenance work.

WGRZ seems to be down this PM. No signal on any tuner.
It's feed is up on Cable here, so must be an issue at the transmitter site.

I just noticed this myself, thought it might be some weather event. It's down on Rogers cable too.

We had an extremme thunder storm at 3:am & again at 4:am and it was slow moving toward Buffalo.

Yup WGRZ has gone to take somes ZZZZZZZZZ's. I noticed just shortly after the noon hour, but I don't know how long it has been gone. There was an extreme thunder boomer headed for them early this morning, so maybe they had some weather related damages to repair.
