Seems to be back to normal. I'd heard before that fog could cause trouble but this was just incredible. Must have been pea soup out there.

Looks like the guide is broke on WNED today.
They aren't transmitting any events at all, per TSReader. Was Fine yesterday.

I noticed this with WNED. Unusual, as their guide is typically very reliable.

Anyone else notice that Daystar's been missing from WNGS? WNGS-Daystar still scans in as 67-3, just there's been nothing there the last couple days.

Yes, I did notice that this sub-channel isn't broadcasting anything...

BTW, today marks a year to the day that it first came back on the air in digital...how long was that contract with Daystar? wishful thinking I guess

The last I heard, it was a 10 year contract. But not sure if that was amended.

Got an email back from WNGS- "Stay tuned this sumer, we have some exciting changes going on at WNGS!" Probably related to a new sub channel that will carry MeTV. Maybe they could put out a better signal too, but now that they are on local Buffalo cable/sat, is it really needed/practical...?

exactly what I was thinking (hoping). 67.3 Daystar still dark.

Is WNGS not required by the purchase agreement to carry Daystar? Also is Daystar on cable in Buffalo? If not maybe Daystar may push for a better signal from WNGS.I used to get Daystar on channel 28 years ago but not now WNGS signal is so poor. So called LP repeater of TCT on 15 analog perfectly clear along with digital 26 but no WNGS or Daystar.WNGS analog had a better signal on 67.

Anyone else notice that WIVB is down? Or is it just me. I noticed it the other night, but with bad weather going around, I just passed it off as that. Today though, it is a little overcast, but the Indy race is coming in fine on WKBW (ABC), NBC and Fox are coming in fine, but now WIVB (CBS).

Anyone else?

All buffalo stations are good here.

No problem with WIVB here in Kitchener. Golf is currently on...

Nah, something weird is going on. Here are my TSReader reports of the big US three:

WKBW:

WGRZ:

WIVB:

It's completely dead, and its been that way for a few days.

All three stations are coming in perfectly strong here in Kitchener right now.

Nah, something weird is going on. Here are my TSReader reports of the big US three:
Your TSReader can only analyze from information that your antenna receives.

wgrz, wkbw and wivb are all fine here. Did something change in your antenna setup? Those are all strong signals, so I'm thinking 'multipath' issues if you have more than one antenna connected or else possibly something is new in your local area that is suddenly reflecting those signals to create multipath issues.

yup, a lot of things could cause one channel to fade completely.
I can usually find a spot where WKBW won't come in but WIVB does, yet
they're within a mile of each other. since I'm so much closer to em than u guys, reflections are that much stronger, so for me I write it off as multipath on CH 38 (semi confirmed via distorted looking shape on a spectrum display)

It's been the wettest spring on record, so I would rule out water in jumpers, etc. before proceeding with anything else troubleshooting wise.
Been bitten at least once by the weather so far this year. To get an accurate picture of errors, should leave TSReader on for a while longer than a few seconds, so ya can get an idea how many Cont, TEI, CRC errors occurr over time. Which source are you using, I didn't see any Signal Str/Qual Stats in there. If I knew which card ya had, maybe we can compile a . DLL that prints the signal/quality stats for ya? (been tinkering in that area for one of mine).

Thanks guys. I don't doubt that there is something going on in my area alone. I just don't know what right now. Since WIVB had their problems last year, this channel has always been a little weaker than the other two, but not to this extent.

My antennas are in the attic, so they haven't been touched for a few months now, so no water has gotten into the connections (if there is, I think I have more major problems to worry about than not getting a TV station :D ). I'm planning on going up there to install a RF9 Yagi when it cools a little, so I will take some time to inspect that antenna more.

I'm not aware of any new structures or other transmitters in the area that have been erected that could be interfering with WIVB.

@majortom
This is using my trusty ol'Hauppauge HVR1250 that I have installed in my HTPC. It was the first digital tuner that I purchased (TV or otherwise), and has become my defacto reference. I use it to setup because it has almost the longest run of cable from the antennas, and if it can pickup stations, then my other tuners shouldn't have issues (in theory).

As for TSReader, I was doing some captures for Trip from rabbitears. I sent him a sample and he noted that I had some dreaded Hauppauge bug and indicated to use a different driver. Since changing, I've noticed I've lost those extra readings.

I'm wondering if my issues were tropo related? I read in the Lake Ontario tropo thread that many lost all of their Buffalo stations. Wonder if I got a bit of that too, and was strong enough to knock out WIVB. Seems to be back today, though has been cutting in and out.

that could be. I've had a tougher time with CHCH and CBLT from here on ocassion lately also. Like when it was real foggy out, etc.

if ya wanna test a few TSReader_ATSC_BDA_Source.Dll that I've compiled from source code, let me know. I can post em on Google docs, wuala or sumthing for ya to try.
I know the one that came stock with it doesn't print the values correctly at all on one card I have. That's why I recompiled them. One version I use for one tuner, the other I use for another tuner, since they don't seem to follow the same standard in what they spit out for signal/quality stats. They are both actually the DCattley_TSREADER_ATSC code that ya find in the SampleSources directory.
