Wow that hd7697p works very well... I'd like to get one of the HD7698P to replace my dat-75 up on my 50 foot tower this summer. Does Save-n-Replay sell them?

Tropo was hot in Markham too last night through early morning as well. Was a quiet start but then Erie, Cleveland and Clearfield rocked in. Here's what I got:

Erie, PA: RF12 WICU, RF16 WSEE (wiped out Rochester's WXXI!), RF22 WFXP, RF50 WQLN

Cleveland, OH: RF15 WEWS, RF17 WKYC, RF28 WUAB, RF30 WBNX (PSIP only), RF34 WQHS

Clearfield, PA: RF15 WPSU (wiped out Cleveland's WEWS!)

@ HWP - congrats on the tower install, and glad you caught this great tropo burst to inagurate it!

@ bigcam406 - your post was from last week, but I had to comment that it's AMAZING you picked up so many Syracuse stations (including WTVH) because you were catching them *through* several Toronto stations!

I also wanted to comment on the odd tropo last week that killed many signals. Something odd was happening because my Buffalo stations were out and even analog CHCH was getting trashed. Yet, out of nowhere I caught Columbus, OH's WBNS (RF21) for a few minutes - a station 333 miles from me. So my guess is that the duct created massive interference and overlap of signals that caused less than favourable tropo. (At least bad for us in Southern Ontario. The Southwest Ontario DX thread reported some awesome catches!)

I am seeing Syracuse tonight, channels 3, 5, 24, 68. No sign of 9.

I am watching all Erie and Cleveland tonight.
Not too bad 273 KM to Cleveland.

And 52-1 WGGN for the first time?

Couple of firsts from Toronto tonight.
Have never seen SUN or Global here before.
Might have actually received every digital station from Toronto in one nite,
that'd definitely be a first considering how weak they are. Fell apart pretty quick though. Up for maybe an hour.

Hey everybody....just a heads up, but Rochester is coming in SUPER strong for me right now. WHAM on VHF-hi RF13 is blasting in at 77% signal strength! I'm getting all Rochesters, plus picking up bits of Watertown's WWTI (RF21) here and there. (It's flaky so it's only coming in for short bursts.) Erie's WQLN (RF50) popped up briefly after 11pm, but faded before the Rochester-mania began!

I got WNGS all day and all night for the last 24 hours with some drop-outs during the day.

Tonight:
3.0 CKVR - coming in remarkably well off the back of a high-vhf antenna
WROC virt 8.1
WHEC 10 (first time for me)
WHAM 13 (first time for me)
15.0 TCT
WXXI 21.1
WUHF 31.1
WXFP 22.3
W42CO (first time for me)
WQLN 54.1
56.0 Technical Difficulties
WXFP 66.1
WNGS 67.1 (rf7) -- still trying to determine if this is tropo/ducting or if it's a new everyday add for me. Either way it's working.

I love this new antenna. Can't wait to get a rotor up there.

Those analog channels are not tropo, I think I just never check for them.

Well the last two overnights have been pretty good for me.

Last night I was getting alot of stations fom Cleveland/Erie. Of special note I got decode from

rf08 - vc8.1.2 WJW-DT .2 ThisTV
rf28 - vc43.1.2 WUAS-DT .2 THISTV

These were decoded from my Kross 4 bay clone antenna kinda pointed in that direction for WNGS. Although WNGS wasn't able to quite make it.

Also tonight I also got strong decode from Rochester's 10 and 13. I was amazed by 13 because that one is usually killed by CKCO-TV in kitchener I guess. I usually never see it even when the other Rochesters are coming in. This was decoded by my mini-state pointed in that direction.

Also had some decode tonight from WNGS from the Kross for maybe an hr. It may not be pointed as good as it should be.

WHAM Rochester (13.1 and 13.2) came in strong from when I first noticed it at about 1:00AM, 63%, was at 77% (Panasonic 42" LCD) when I turned it off at about 3:00AM. But WNED Buffalo, which is usually very strong at over 85% was at 43%, and faded right down to zero a few times during the same period, sometimes for 5 minutes at a time. Other Buffalo channels: 2 - no reception, 4 - good, 7 - good, 23 -strong, 26 - no reception, 29 - good, 49 - no reception.

Using an HD 4221 pointed at Buffalo from Scarborough near Port Union Rd. & 401.

This is about the sixth or so time I've received a strong WHAM signal since setting things up a little over a year ago, but on none of them could I get the other Rochester channels, 8 and 10. Anyone have any idea why?

rf08-vc8.1.2 WJW-DT .2 ThisTV
rf28-vc43.1.2 WUAS-DT THISTV.

I hit both of those too. WJW is FOX 8-1 and WUAB is THIS TV 43-1.

WROC (8.1) - it is on RF 45 and remaps
WHEC (10.1) - just a guess but maybe adjacent channel interference from CFTO analog?

I got WROC the past 2 nights but otherwise my tropo results have been horrible so far. WXXI and WUHF were too weak to lock. I also had a WNGS signal but too weak to lock. :(

My CM 7000 DVR apparently saw WKTV-DT (Ithaca, NY) at some point overnight last night.

From news reports it seems that the Kawarthas, Holland Marsh, and other areas in that belt were hit really hard by wind storms and possibly tornadoes.

Anyone have their OTA gear threatened by those storms?

My gear has weathered the storms just fine so far. However, I can't recall a year where I've seen so much thunderstorm activity. We even had thunderstorms this past winter ("Thundersnow").

yep, I think we've been pretty lucky compared to others.
I do notice more & more tattered looking antennas around though.
Not sure if it's just because I look for antennas more often than I ever used to or what.

Somehow I ended up getting WSYR (RF 17) from Syracuse yesterday morning. Had it for a few minutes, enough for my Haier TV to get a lock on it, but it's gone now. I would guess 300 km or so.

My 91XG and 10-13 are no longer parallel, 91 slightly right. Mast also a wee bit bent. Fully functional otherwise.

WHAM is much improved here since last year, not sure why.
